We have stayed at Dinas Island for the first time this weekend and as other reviews have said. 'WHAT A GEM!'

If we take the only negative that I think are valid in other reviews, the narrow road, then this is a very very minor issue. It's only a couple of hundred yards long and there are plenty of passing places. The beach at Pwllgwaelod which the road serves is not manic by any stretch of the imagination so the traffic volume is low. The chance of meeting another vehicle whilst on this road is negligible.

Now on with the positives.

What a beautiful place. The view is breathtaking. The site is compact and very relaxed which suits us just fine. Admittedly the facilities are better on other sites but everything you NEED is here. There is an atmosphere of welcome as soon as you enter the gate. It is obvious that this is a friendly place as everyone does everyone else the courtesy of saying hello. This is something that is sadly missing on other, more formal sites we've been to.

Lyn and Neil seem to work incredibly hard making everyone feel at home as well as tending their 2500 sheep.

This is one place we will be returning to and very soon.

I must go now and get some sleep as we have enjoyed our stay so much we are staying an extra night which men's that I have to leave at 5:30am tomorrow morning to get home for work.

Come and stay at Dinas Island. You won't regret it.

I loved this site as the views were fantastic and it was excellent value for money. The facilities are basic but as the price for the site is very reasonable they are more than acceptable - free hot showers in a basic farm building - might be a bit chilly in cooler weather though. I was very grateful as the water heater in our motorhome was playing up! My OH wasn't quite as impressed as me because he prefers to be a little closer civilisation! He was also worried about meeting something on the narrow farm lane with no passing places in our large vehicle! However if you want somewhere with basic clean facilities, fantastic views and to get away from it all, then look no further.

A beautiful location- we loved the area and the walking. Unfortunately we did not like the site.

We had not appreciated before our visit that it would be predefined pitching in a small field. We quickly got hemmed in by large noisy groups so all we could see from anywhere near our tent was other tents. If you are going in a big group then it won't be a problem- otherwise you may find yourself (as we did) in close proximity with strangers- either hearing their conversations or being woken by their snoring! If you want space and tranquility to enjoy the beautiful area then look elsewhere. For this reason we will not return.

The facilities were fairly basic. The pitch space was restrictive and there was little field space for children to play. There are better sites available for the same money.

What is not to love about this campsite? £5 per night per person, good clean facilities - there is one toilet and shower each for ladies and men but you can use the ones in the farmhouse if it gets busy - never had to queue though and always clean with plenty of hot water.

Fabulous coastal views from campsite and lots of lovely beaches in the area. You can easily get onto the Pembrokeshire Coastal path from the site, we walked a 5 mile stretch from the campsite then on another day bagged a lift from one of our party to just past Nevern and walked 10 miles back to the site - try this if you love walking - wear decent footwear and think about taking walking poles if you have them - there are lots of undulations!

Try the little cove at cwm yr eglwys a walk from the campsite it is delightful and very unspoilt as is the whole area.

Take advantage of the owners fabulous baking we had bread and rolls delivered to our door at 9am and became welsh cake converts.

Although we didn't take any little ones there were children from aged 2 to 8 in our party and a 13 year old - there is no club house or laid on entertainment but they loved the place - just running around and they loved the beach.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle come here it is beautiful - I'm sure we will return.

Simply fantastic. I am walking the Coastal Path and enjoy the simple things in life. If you stay here, that is just what you will get. Out of the way, facilities good, views second to none, information about local buses like the famous 'Poppit Rocket' and other local points of interest all posted on the notice board by the toilet block. I shall definitely return, a most beautiful place. I was lucky enough to enjoy a relatively good weekend of weather, in this most dismal year of rain and floods. I shall be back, as I said, Simply fantastic!

A really enjoyable 12 days here, in spite of some horrendous downpours in the wettest July on record. The field did get very soggy, and you needed the farmer to pull you out with his 4x4 if you were at the bottom of the field. Views great over Newport Bay, but only from half the site, as the roof of the sheep barns obscure views for half of the bottom half of the field. Facilities basic (this is a working farm) but adequate, though if the site is full, you would be struggling.

Farmer and wife very friendly and helpful, and passionate about what they do - if you have any interest in farming and the care of the countryside, take the time to have a chat. The fresh-baked bread delivered to your van first thing in the morning is highly recommended.

Fabulous site for walking - you're more or less on the Pembrokeshire Coast path and there are 2 lovely little beaches just at the end of the half-mile farm drive - one with a good pub and restaurant and one where you can get a lovely local ice-cream. The walk round Dinas Head is highly recommended - some great bird-life, we saw buzzards and kites. Newport is a lovely little place for 'local' shopping.

In a caravan we had our own facilities, so weren't too worried about the ones on site, which would be a distinct advantage if the site is full, but you have to be a confident tower to get there with a steep single-track descent from the village and then a bumpy, steep, concrete farm track up to the farm. Well worth it while we were there though.

The location of this campsites is really beautiful! The owners were very friendly and you could even get fresh baked bread in the morning.

It was very quiet when we were there, but at walking distance there is the Old Sailors; nice pub, nice owners and the best seafood my boyfriend ever had!

Facilities are ok; one shower and toilet for the ladies. The washing-up area is very exposed when it raine.

From the parking near the Old Sailors goes a bus that takes you to Fishguard and Newport. The coastal walks are very beautiful! Sadly we had to leave one day early because of terrible weather that ruined our tent.

We have just returned home today after a fabulous few days. The views, the bread, the walks, the beaches, the friendliness are every bit as good as the other reviews commend.

The facilities are adequate but remember flip flops or crocs for the shower.

The farm is rural, it is farm and field, not clubhouse and entertainment, so if that is what you like, it is perfect.

The last mile from the main road to the farm is a concern with a caravan as it is single track road, hedges, trees, with passing places down to Pwllgwaelod. We checked the local bus timetable, the 'Poppit Rocket', to make sure we didn't interfere with its timetabled use of the road and adjusted our arrival and departure accordingly. Having said that, we did not meet any traffic on the road, either there or back. In the event there was not a problem, therefore don't let this put you off coming. We are planning another visit soon.

This is our second time staying here, and we still can't believe our luck of finding this campsite. Beautiful views 360 degrees. Quiet, simple site.

Toilet and shower each for ladies and men, though a notice says there's an additional one in the farmhouse during busy times, but it was never a problem for us. Toilets were always clean.

You've got easy access to two beaches and the Coast Path. Site was pretty flat, though there were a few slopey bits.

The family that run the farm are really nice people, and Lynda makes home made bread and cakes which you can order in advance and she brings to you each morning. It's a working farm, so you will hear the sheep, but it's part of the experience. If you want to get away from it all and have a quiet, relaxing break with stunning views, this is your place. Cost at time of our stay was 5p/person and 4for electrical p/night.

If you require a quiet, no-frills site then you will love this one. Splendid views, perfect location and friendly hosts.

The showers are basic but clean and the water was hot. The drive up to the site is steep but this is Wales and only to be expected. We took a lovely walk around the island, I see another reviewer says it took two hours. It took us considerably longer but I expect we are considerably older and took longer rests (the views provide the perfect excuse to stop).

The lady in the farmhouse supplies cakes and even meals (i think) and there is a restaurant in the bay at the bottom of the farm drive and a shop that sells everything on the main road. Nearby Newport for shops and pubs, lovely small coves, preselis for hill walking and not too far away Poppit Sands, St Dogmaels and in the other direction the coast between st Davids and Strumble head. Wonderful walking country.

It was a quiet site while we were there and we had a lovely stay and will be returning.
