Spent 1 night here, it was great that they would take a booking for 1 night as a lot of campsites don't. Very peaceful and good value for money. As mentioned in previous reviews, the showers and toilets need updating but were clean enough. Nice little shop - bought a lovely cake! Would go back again for a night but toilet facilities might put me off staying longer

We had a fantastic weekend at this site, and we would definitely go again. All the other campers were extremely friendly, and the owners were very welcoming.
The only drawback I would have to say is that the toilet and showers were a little out of date and needed a good scrub(but really could do with up-dating). We also had our dog with us, and the fact that they don't charge for dogs is very good, as most other sites do.
Also they were very happy for our family members to pay a visit to us, so we could have a family BBQ,that doesn't happen on most sites.
All in all a brilliant weekend, with of course brilliant weather

During our stay the campsite was quiet with a nice mix of people. The pitches are not very flat so better for caravans and motorhomes.
The shower/toilet facilities are very poor and I think they were only bearable as the site was quiet. The children's playground is new and smart and the small farm shop is handy.
The staff are very friendly and the prices are fair for the area. Good location, near to supermarkets / pubs etc and Exmouth seafront is lovely. The entrance to the camp is very floral in summer.

We stayed here for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend. Good price for a pitch at the campsite.
There was a few noisy people there but the owners were very efficient in ensuring the campsite stayed peaceful.
Not much traffic noise but was very close to the town centre (about 10 minute drive).
Easy access to other towns from the campsite and the nearest pub is a 15 minute walk and serves great food at a reasonable price.
The shop was well stocked with the basic essentials. There is a Tesco within a 5 minute drive.
There are two blocks of showers and toilets. One nearest the farm shop has 1 shower with free hot water and is brighter than the block on the site.
The other showers you need to pay 20p for about 3-5 minutes of hot water and gets full of grass from the field. They do clean the showers though and is always stocked with toilet roll and hand towels.
I would recommend this site and would go back again. Now I know the way. Got a little lost trying to locate the site.

Small site with limited facilities.
Good points:
Friendly staff. Nice adventure playground for kids. Farm shop with useful products. 1/2 mile from large Tesco. On quiet road. Close to Exmouth beach. Crealy theme park a few miles away.
Bad points:
Site on quite a steep hill. There are limited toilet / shower / wash-up facilities. The brick-built block at the top with 1 wash-up sink and 2 showers (1 male, 1 female) is clean, if a little dilapidated. The 'portacabin' block in the middle of the main field was, quite frankly, gross. Filthy toilets and two extremely small shower cubicles.
Our pitch was right next to the portacabin block (pitch 13) and we were kept awake by people using the toilets most of the night. You could hear *everything*!. When we packed up and lifted the groundsheet we were greeted by the most gross sewer smell. Made us quite glad we used a poly sheet under our tent.

A lovely quiet site with very little passing traffic, nice shop with good range of meats and ciders, but like all the other reviews is seriously let down by the lack of showers! One per sex and then it only dribbles! But good location, level motorhome hard standings and nice people!
Would use again out of season. Large Tesco with fuel three roads away.

As the rest of the reviews say this is a really small quiet campsite, it is situated a bit out of Exmouth but not too far away from a great pub about 10-15 mins walk and a couple of minutes drive. It is about 5 mins drive from Exmouth, ideal for touring round South Devon. It is a great base.
There is an exercise area for dogs which my dog loved. It is a very dog friendly site. The farm shop is expensive but sells loads of nice stuff, mostly local produce which is nice to see in this day and age.
The shower/toilet blocks are basic but not very clean. The ones at the top of the site are the best but as a tenter we were at the bottom of the field so it was a bit of a trek but worth it.
All in all we would definitely stay here again as it was good value for money.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend others to go too.

A family of four, we visited Bank Holiday weekend (Whitsun). We stayed in a tent. This is a quiet site, which suits us just fine! Not too commercial. Buts. The toilet and shower block at the top is clean and suitable, although only having one shower (per gender). We stayed at the far end of the campsite though so used the shower block in the middle of the campsite - it's a small portacabin, tiny, cramped, of the two washbasins in the ladies only one has running hot water, of the two showers - 20p- in the gents only one of the showers has hot water (!) and everything is very squashed in. Walk further and use the facilities in the top of the site I urge you. The top half of the site is clean and well mown. The bottom half (where we were) is absolutely covered in sheep poo. I'm not fussy, but try dodging the doo-doo in the rain at 2am when you have to go by torchlight to the loos. The playground is under construction at the moment so 'not in play' :o) Yays. The shop is great in a fair-trade local produce way. Take a little extra money to reflect this. There are disabled facilities, although since I didn't use them I can't vouch for how good they are. I'd say if wheelchair access needed make sure you can get a pitch at the the top end, the site slopes far more at the bottom end. Overall, this is an average site. By car there are plenty of local things to do and see. Go to Sandy Bay / Orcombe point for your beach, for pebbles go to Budleigh. Not sure where the nearest pub was. So - great for families who hate Butlins, basic, cheap, could be better but hey - could be a darn site worse! If you're in a caravan you'll be fine.

Great, friendly, old style site, basic facilities but had all we needed, washing up sinks x2 shower loo's etc nice small play area. Half of the field is level and half gently slopes. The thing we missed was a washing machine (although laundrette 5 minutes drive away) handy for Exmouth beach and Tesco's is 2 minutes drive away. Very good farm shop on the site but don't expect cheap and cheerful food - it's all top notch with prices to match.
Some marked pitches have electricity arround the edge of the field, then in the center and down the slope it's a free for all.
At night we had no noise problems and our young children slept well.
We have had weeks at St John's over the last few years and i'm sure will be back.

What an amazing place to find it was beautiful and were treated brilliantly and even though it was bank holiday weekend we still felt like a valued customer and the farm shop was wonderful the toilets and showers were simple but clean and did the job, was very nice for my toddlers also we will be visiting again.
