Lovely location and very tranquil, however facilities were very poor value for money.
Totally inadequate rubbish bins overflowing with rubbish for whole of stay as was the small unlidded bin in the toilet which was shared with farm workers and which guests were asked to keep clean.
Wet-room style windowless shower, chipped painted concrete floor always wet and muddy from previous campers, light and shower operated by dirty cords hanging from ceiling, no socket for hairdyers or shavers. Generally quite unpleasant to use and no cleaning equipment in evidence to clean up after use.
2 small recycling boxes on the site overflowing with beer cans and mainly seemed to be used by the occupants of a static van parked by the gate, (who also used the toilet facilities which we were expected to keep clean).
The only 'lovely view' was of the local church spire as the site was mainly dominated by 2 huge, ugly, modern barns. (Could be camouflaged with a row of trees?) plus the static van.
'Customer Service' non-existent during our visit.
This site could be perfect if more effort was put in by the owners to update the facilities and improve its unkempt appearance to bring it up to the standard of other certified sites which we have recently used and which have been considerably cheaper or, if in this price range had much better facilities.
However, we found some delightful walks from the site and a visit to the Ashdown Forest Visitor Centre at Whych Cross was very informative. We will be visiting Stairs Farm again and it would be nice to see some improvements.

We stayed over the bank holiday weekend, when we arrived we were met by the guy who was nice and told us where we were etc.
The bathroom and toilet are basic but we have no problem with that, we asked if we could leave late on the Monday and they sent a nice text saying no problem!, which was great. We liked the fact that we could just get on with our holiday.
The village shop, pub and pooh shop are about 5mins walk from the site.
The village it self is very quiet and lovely to wander around, the shop stocks every thing you could possible want and they are very friendly and welcoming. We didn't go to the pub, so can't comment. We did hear some areroplanes but not many and they wouldn't be any thing you wouldn't hear any where else! It was a relaxing and quiet break with a great location to other area's if you wanted to go out.
Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and will going back again.

The location is rich Sussex countryside and village quaintness. The site is easy to find and has a nice location. It is smallish and intimate. The facilities are adequate. There wasn't much in the way of staff to help although we sorted ourselves out. It has a really good outdoor feel to it.
A tad noisy from aircraft into Gatwick although not too intrusive. The best bit is Hartfield village, the home of A A Milne who wrote his Pooh books while living there. Much memorabilia regarding Pooh and a nice tea shop. All this is about 5 minutes walk away. There are two pubs, the Anchor which we used and the Hay Waggon. The food in the Anchor was a bit cafe-like although the staff were helpful.
I have visited the other pub, Hy Wagon, in the past and found the opposite,i.E. The staff not overly helpful but the food very good. Either way both pubs are fair to good.

Nice location just a few minutes walk from Hartfield village. Howether for us, the footpath walk involved lifting 30kgs plus of Labrador over styles which had no dog latches and locked gates.
If you have a dog take the road to the village.
All 3 pubs serve real ales, and food. The Anchor was well priced and good portions of reasonable quality, The Haywaggon more expensive, but good quality. The Gallipot,a 10 minute walk served the best real ale in my opinion.
The site has plenty of room, the toilet and shower were not clean when we arrived but were cleaned by the site owner who visits twice a week.
Obviously in between times it's down to the punters to keep it clean, which wasn't happening when we arrived.
They could do with a little work, they are very basic, but this is a small c.S so I suppose are acceptable. However at £11 per night + £3.50 for hookup I thought it was pricey for the facilities offered. With a little bit more effort put into the site this place could be great,a shame really.

A lovely, peaceful location on the edge of Ashdown Forest. The site is 1/4 mile up a track and is therefore, away from the road and very quiet. The only noises we heard were a woodpecker and the church clock's chimes.
The village was a pleasant 5 min walk alongside a field, over a stile and through a meadow. The village has a small convenience store, 2 pubs, a good park and a Pooh Bear themed gift shop & Tea room.
The site is basic (5 units only, some hardstanding, choice of hook-ups), but very generous in terms of size. The 2 loos (1 doubles as a wet room / shower) are in purpose built rooms tucked into the corner of a barn at the bottom of the field. They're clean and adequate but you may prefer to use your own shower. Don't overfill your chemical loo. You've a long walk to the CDP!
In summary: a great site to get away from it all yet with a vibrant village in easy reach.

The Hop Farm Touring And Camping Park
Set in 500 acres of beautiful, rolling Kent countryside. The Oast village on site is the World's largest Oast house collection and makes for a spectacular backdrop. Grass and hardstanding pitches for caravans, tents and motorhomes with electric option. Modern toilets and showers and multiple washing up facilities.
Small shop onsite and pub/restaurant at the entrance. The River Medway flows through the site, providing idyllic waterside pitches. Make the most of the location and try your hand at canoeing or fishing or simply sit back, unwind and enjoy wildlife spotting. This is a basic amenities site located on the edge of the little village of Hartfield in the Ashdown Forest. To reach it, you have to go through a locked gate (unlocking a padlock with a code) and up a rough, rutted cart track to the top of a hill, where the site is located. Being only a CL it consists of five hardstandings and some grass which can take tents. You are surrounded by high, open countryside, and the spot can be a touch breezy, but is very scenic with a view of a little church and not much else.
The amenities are very basic, consisting of a toilet and washbasin, and a shower which I would not consider using, in an unheated barn. The toilet emptying spot is sited behind said barn, a good 500 yards from the hard-standings and difficult to reach if you struggle to carry a heavy toilet cassette a significant distance as we do (being women).
There is no 'customer service' as such, our only communication with the owner being via email and text messages, and payment was made direct to his bank account.
As a location from which to visit Ashdown Forest this is an acceptable site, and for those who enjoy being remote it is ideal. However, we found the access very annoying.
