We used this site due to its proximity to the Mawddach Trail - (which runs from Barmouth to Dolgellau along an old railway line).
As previous reviews a tiered site with incredible views both over to Barmouth and to the mountains behind you.
On arrival owner showed us a choice of pitches and seemed very laid back about everything. She was friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive.
There are two sets of toilets / showers - one on the lower tiers looked very old and tired. On the upper tiers the facilities are based in a steel container. In the ladies 1 shower / 2 toilets. The facilities themselves are fine - its a well thought out little set up and close enough to the tops tiers. The site was fairly busy when we were there and we never had to queue. The water is on immersion so once its run out you have to wait an hour - not the end of the world.
The main problem seems to be that the facilities got very dirty quickly - so to be fair that's due to amount of use and the people staying not leaving them in a good state. Yes they needed cleaning more often too - so a bit more effort from both campers and owners would make this fine.
The site is well set out, plenty of space between pitches. Many people were outside till fairly late when we stayed but no excessive noise at all.
This is a perfect site for Mawddach, Barmnouth, Fairbourne etc. Its a good hour to walk into Barmouth and the hill from the pitches is very steep down to the main road. If you want to drive to Barmouth you have to head right back up to nearly Dolgellau as there isnt a road crossing over the estuary - however there is a train from Arthog which is 10-15 minutes walk.
We would use again for sure due to views and numbers of things to do in the area.

The facilities are fairly basic - small portacabin with shower, toilet and washing up facilities, which could be a little better for the price.
But as other reviewers have stated the views from the tent are stunning. The family are very friendly and helpful, and since we love exploring this area, we will be back.
There are shops in Fairbourne, and if you park your car near the railway bridge, you can in fact walk to Barmouth in about 40 minutes, which has a good selection of pubs for food.
But the site is also ideal for enjoying the views over a barbecue, which is allowed as long as you have the means to keep it off the ground.

As promoted in the site details, the view from the terraces is 'absolutely fabulous'! The owners are friendly and helpful (when you can find them!). The site is large with a mix of functions. En route to the touring camping plateau, you pass some very tatty old buildings housing a youth adventure centre and barns for the 40 horses of the Riding Centre. The track to the site is narrow and steep - a low powered front wheel drive might struggle with a loaded caravan (I am sure the owners would help with their 4x4 pick up).
The price for the site is high (£74 for 4 nights) especially as the loo block is dreadful - just a badly maintained converted shipping container. But if you are 'self-contained' and use you own facilities the cost and other shortcomings are compensated for by the fabuluous setting and the view.

2 night stay beginning October.
1st off I have to mention the fantastic views. When the sun is out the view across the estuary is amazing.
As mentioned the facilities could be a little far for those camping on the top terraces. And not very clean considering the few people on the site at this time of year. Nor had the bins been emptied. However they did have soap and toilet roll and the showers were very hot and powerful.
Generally a peaceful site with sheep wandering around although there was an off road bike on the odd occasion. (possibly the owners son) apart from the noise this could be very dangerous if children were around.
The owners were helpful and friendly and the pony trekking across the farm and beach was worth the £30 (2 hours). I would also recommend the walk across the railway bridge to barmouth
£14 per night a little steep.

Arrived very late at night to a friendly face who escorted us to our pitch.
Absolutely amazing views and very helpful and knowledgeable staff regarding local cafes for great breakfasts.
Although the toilet block may seem a little basic, the location wins overall.
Well maintained site, great for children and off the beaten track. Although you can walk across the estuary to Barmouth, you really need to have a car as there is no shop on site. Great location for exploring Snowdonia National Park with local walks and cycle paths. Amazing long sandy beach only 5 mins away and small village with shops.
The horse riding was also very good.
Had an amazing time and will definitely return.

We stayed here for 5 nights. The views of the estuary, sea & mountains are very impressive. The road up to the pitches is steep and narrow and tents are pitched on flat terraces cut into the side of a hill.
The Portable cabin toilet/shower block was clean upon arrival and there was hand soap available, but they were not cleaned again, nor the bins emptied, during the rest of our stay. A mop & bucket was placed next to the basins with a sign asking you to clean up after yourselves (not ideal considering we paid £27 per night!)
We pitched our tent on a nice flat terrace and didn‘t have to queue for the facilities as there were only a few other families there. The owner did state, however, that if more campers did arrive, she would pitch small tents both to the front and side of us on the same terrace (this definitely would have been too close).
Lots of nice walks from the site including the Mawddach Trail, the Blue Lake above Fairbourne and across the railway bridge into Barmouth.

The views from the site were absolutely superb, and plenty of great walks in the area.
Surprisingly the site was far from full.
Disappointed with the cleanliness of the facilities. Having arrived Friday evening through to Monday, the toilets and showers remained uncleaned. No loo roll at any time nor soap in dispensers. Ok, little things I suppose, but for the price I would expect a bit better.

Go to this site for the views, as said before can't get much better.
The site is elevated on the side of a hill with flat terraces cut in at different levels. The higher up the better the views, but also a longer walk to facilities.
If travelling in an older vehicle like our vw camper the climb to the site is interesting, but we did manage to tour the area on bikes, train & walking very easily.
Facilities basic, & hot water ran out quickly when site was full.
Owners relaxed & helpful.
Mawdach trail for bikes, walk over barmouth bridge, steam train from fairborne, pony trek from site are all good days out without having to drive from site.
£24 per night seems a little over the top, but as said before, the views are stunning & make it worth while

The site has upgraded their camping field considerably for the 2009 season.
The upgrades are:
On site upgraded toilets/ showers separate Ladies and mens, 'free of charge' & heated if needed, and washing up area all clean and really nice.
There is a good improved access road and terraced areas all with views of the estuary.
The camp field itself is not lit so do need a torch but the toilet area is and washing up area.
The views are just like being in new Zealand amazing, but we are an elevated natural farm site

Spent a night on this site. Whilst the views were amazing, the facilities were located at some distance away. The owners have been doing some work to upgrade the facilities; toilet block and washing up shelter. If you are camped up on the higher terraces, the walk to the facilities is still a modest distance.
The charge for a lone individual for a small tent for one night seemed a bit steep at £12
