A little gem where there are very few sites.
Yes its a fairly tight road down to the site but more than manageable with care. The ground has been gravelled for hardstanding and the pitching areas are clean and clear.
Would not agree at all that facilities were primitive - the toilets and shower were very clean and more than adequate. There was also a small utility room with a washing machine available for which no extra charge was made.
Its a site on rugged terrain where you get ehu, showers, wc, chem disposal all for a fair price.
Add to this some amazing walks around the lochs which the owner will direct you to. She sent us around the lochs on a marked walk which took a little over 2 hours and was one of the nicest walks we found on the islands.
A lovely little site with a really friendly owner.

Stayed here for 1 night when touring the Western Isles. Had sailed from Berneray earlier in the day and toured around Harris.
Arrived in the evening, utterly exhausted. We hadn't booked and the site, which is very small, looked full so we didn't feel very hopeful that we would get in, but the lady who greeted us was just lovely - she said that she was full, but that if we didn't mind not having an EHU we could park up in front of the toilets and showers.
She told us where we could walk the dog and said how bad she felt that the weather wasn't good and we couldn't appreciate the lovely views of the Minch. She was such a lovely, canny lady.
The toilet facilities were clean and adequate and there was a washing machine which, unfortunately, was out of order until the next day when, she told us, the 'Beko Man' was coming out to fix it as it had been struck by lightening!
There aren't very many campsites on Harris but this one can be recommended.

Small campsite nestling in a hollow on the coast. It is a few miles from Tarbert with nowt but scenery around it. Price is fair. Facilities are clean although on the basic side. The owner was very pleasant and had plenty of chat and a warm welcome. Probably not ideal for families but fine for couples and as a stop over for a couple of nights if you are wanting to explore the south Harris coast which is well worth a look.

Well as in first review but has very little space and 5 hook ups and not suitable for larger vehicles, of any type.
I still don't know how all the vehicles got into such a tight spot parked less than a meter apart, sheep on site and cdp disposal was a large bucket sunk into ground down track towards loch, whilst toilets and showers clean, I would describe it as primitive.
Over crowded.
Redeeming feature, wonderful views.
Charge £12 per night including electricity

Now known as Minch View.
We found this site from the Tourist Info centre in Tarbert, Harris, near the ferry terminal/car park. It is in a lovely remote spot about 3 miles down the Golden Road from the end nearest the main road to Tarbert.
There is room for about 4/5 vans with EHU available. Has basic but clean facilities - showers x2, toilets in a small outhouse type block. Clean water tap next to hardstanding area. CDP point is down a boggy path so wear your wellies.
The owner, Mrs MacDonald is very friendly and shows you everything you need to know, small reception porch at the house with local info/leaflets.
Things to note - the turn in to the drive is tight so don't know how bigger vans would manage (ours is 18')and you definitely need a good torch as it is pitch black! No mobile reception but card only payphone 2 mins walk up the road.
We stayed for 1 night on our way up to Lewis.
