Stayed a few weeks ago, still in awe at how lovely the north pembs coast is. The camp site was tranquil, well equipped, spacious, unfussy, well considered, rustic, friendly, sunny, windy, cloudy, rainy and beautiful. Buying locally caught fresh cooked lobster and dressed crab on the camp site set the scene for us: perfect.
A fantastic location for cycling, walking, canoeing, kayaking, nature watching, visiting the cathedral at st davids and the art galleries (and pub) in porthgain and st davids. Surfing / bodyboarding at the abereiddy beach. Seeing John Piper and Graham Sutherland artwork. Seeing seals feed their pups off the Pembrokeshire coastal path. Cooking over the fire pits every night!
Thank you, we will be back soon, good value for money too.

We had a smashing time thanks. Took me back to my Famous Five reading days! Site is lovely, camp fires, views, toilet blocks (we did mention to Anne about the logistics!) The owner is such a lovely person, along with her doglets, Amber and Ruby, happy to help and bring us freshly caught crab and lobster at a very reasonable price. The owner joined us for a BBQ one night, and we didn't see her for days!
The area is beautifully unspoilt - busy surfing at Abereiddi, Red Bull flying fro there too!, Haverfordwest - don't really bother, unless you are missing home. St Davids, nice city, pants supermarket! Bring all you can, so you don't have to venture out into the big old world you left behind at home. Enjoy the joys of nature.

This is our second visit to this campsite and it's a real gem!
It's in Abercastle, 5minutes walk to the lovely harbour, inlet.
Right on the Pembrokeshire coastal footpath.
The great points for the site,
Lovely location in the coast with lots of nearby attractions, beaches walks etc.
Really big pitches so no worrying about the neighbours.
Has real fire pits and firewood is available so great for gathering around in the evenings.
Dogs are allowed
Anne, the owner is very helpful.
Loos and showers on site, simple but always clean, and no charges and always hot water.
Well worth the visit and at reasonable cost.
You will enjoy, Neil Beadle

We visited this lovely campsite in August 2011 and had electric hook up which was great to recharge batteries and for the children to watch the odd dvd film on a portable player that we have.
If youre looking for a campsite that has an on site pub with swimming pool, children's entertainment and all the trappings of modern life, don't come here. If you want real camping with as much privacy as you like in your own enclosed pitch, with a picnic table and a firepit to sit around and do barbecues and toast marshmallows, then this is definitely the place to be! We couldn't recommend it enough to be honest! We had some wonderful evenings doing this and it was a real family holiday that I'm sure our children will remember for the rest of their lives. Our only problem was that we only had a week, so next year were looking forward to spending two weeks there. The owner Anne couldn't be more helpful and even though the site was full, we didn't feel imposed on by the other campers because of the way the site is laid out. When we arrived home after driving for six hours, we had floods of tears from our 4 year old boy when we told him we weren't setting off back there straight away to our tent! Our only problem was that we only had a week so next year were planning a fortnight.

We stayed for a week at Garn Gwely, and had chosen it because of the small number of large pitches, and because you can have campfires. We paid for 2 pitches, as we were with my mum & dad in their motorhome, but chose to all pitch on one as there was so much room.
The location is lovely, with the harbour just five mins walk down the hill. We liked the site very much, but had just a couple of niggles.
We had paid £150 for each pitch, and accepted the high cost due to the fact that there were only 6 pitches advertised, so we thought that it was reasonable to have to pay a premium rather than being crammed in.
There are only 2 showers and 2 toilets, which is fine if there are only 6 pitches in use. But for four of the nights, there were about eight tents with families staying further up the field, on what looked like an area which had 2 or maybe 3 actual pitches. The group were all together, so obviously didn't mind being closer together.
It did mean though that there were at least ten pitches worth of people needing to use the facilities, rather than six, which put them under pressure a bit. Each of the showers and toilets is in a small unit alongside the washing up sink and fridge, so lots of people in a small area with this amount of people, and not entirely pleasant washing up adjacent to a stranger using the toilet! (or even your dad for that matter!)
Also we were a bit disappointed that the grass hadn't been cut, it really was very long, and it was a wet week, so made life a bit more difficult having to wade through the long wet grass to go to the loo etc! Especially as you are not supposed to arrive until after 4pm and have left by ten, to allow for 'pitch maintenance' of which there appeared to be none!
All in all, we would have been very happy with the site if there had been the advertised number of pitches in use, and if the grass had been a reasonable length. As it was, we felt that we had paid a premium price for average facilities.

This was our third visit to this site as we love it so much.
The pitch for each tent is very large and has a firepit and picnic table. We would spend most nights with a fire toasting marshmallows.
The owner is very friendly and helpful.
The toilet block is always clean and has two showers which always have lovely warm water. There is also a fridge and freezer provided which is really useful in warm weather.
The 5 minute walk down to Abercastle is a must as the harbour is really peaceful and pretty. If you are lucky you might even get to see a seal. The coastal path goes up either side of Abercastle and the walk along the cliffs enables you to see the some of the other wildlife of the Pembrokeshire Coast.
It is just the place for a quiet relaxing holiday.

We stayed here in August 2010 for a week and to be honest it wasn't long enough. So we're going back this year, having just booked a fortnight with The owner. The owner was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and explained where everything was to us when we arrived. The facilities are certainly adequate for the size of site but I always get up early and bag a shower first thing anyway, so I didn't experience any bottlenecks. We had electric hook up and this was a must for us on a main holiday as our children have games to charge up and we have mobile phones etc as well (but no telly!). We bought enough logs from Anne for the week and we really enjoyed toasting marshmallows on the open fire and laying out watching the stars later on after the children had gone to bed. If you want a site with all the facilities such as an on site bar with entertainment, swimming pool and the usual play area like the big companies run, don't bother coming here. If you want REAL camping with a REAL fire and a very private area all to yourselves surrounded by a banked hedge, this is a real gem of a site to come to. We could only just hear the people next door as they were in their own area and it is such a lovely quiet place to come to, a real retreat. Our children loved it and now we're spoiled for all the other sites we've been to don't quite match up to what is on offered here. I have just two regrets: 1. We should have booked two weeks instead of one. 2. I wish I had taken some cash on our first walk down to the harbour because I would have bought a fresh lobster from the fishermen that just happened to be loading up as we arrived. I didn't have a penny on me!

This is a lovely campsite and we will definitely be returning. The pitches are very large and it makes a real change to have so much space and privacy on a campsite. We found that there was lots of exploring to be done on the site and our little boy was fascinated by the wildlife in the banks, although he was especially taken with 'Gladys' the lawnmower. The surrounding beaches are fab ( a drive if you want sandy for young children) and there is plenty to do when the weather isn't so great - would recommend Castell Henlys. Anne is always helpful and approachable. We cooked on our campfire most nights, enjoying the view, and the wood was great value. Other campers on this site were likeminded and friendly.

A wonderful site in a beautiful part of the country.
The site is nice and private but the pitches are large we had a tent and a campervan on ours and still had plenty of space.
The ground was fairly level and each pitch has a brilliant fire circle and a very handy large picnic bench.
Toilet/shower blocks are clean and hot water was available 24/7. The communal fridge and freezer were very useful.
The owner was very welcoming and helpful and recommended a lovely local butcher where we brought plenty of bbq food for a really good price.
Logs are available on site for a reasonable price.
Nolton stables offer horseriding on the beach which was a wonderful experience and the druidstone pub is a drive from the campsite, but well worth it for good food and wonderful sunset views.
There are plenty of wonderful beaches in the surrounding area but many are only accessible on foot, it is well worth walking the coastal path over to the next bay where there is a wonderful secluded beach.

This is a lovely campsite only a few minutes walk from the small but beautiful bay of Abercastle. The pitches were huge, countryside all around. Surrounded by a bank and each had its own open fire pit. The site is only small offering about 13 or so pitches so the kids found they had no where to explore, however the coastal walk from Abercastle is truly breathtaking and it was lovely to leave the car behind. My only complaint was the toilet, shower and washing up facilities which are all together in two small rooms. At one time there was someone in the toilet, two people washing up, me trying to clean my teeth in the washbasin and someone in the shower all within a very small space - very little privacy to be had which my teenagers found very uncomfortable. Very often it is the small details which can help when camping like decent mirrors and somewhere to put toiletry bags etc which can make the difference both needed at these facilities. However the site is in a truly lovely spot. The weather was awful and it was very windy on our pitch but a lot of the other pitches seemed to offer more shelter from the wind. The beach at Newgale was lovely and it was worth walking further down the beach to find shelter from the wind. It had a cafe, shop and loos and it only cost £2 to park all day! What a bargain.
