 This site could not be more convenient for the Caen car ferry. It takes a matter of minutes to make the 2km journey.
That said, at the time of year we travelled, staying one night in mid-late September, there were some less good features.
We arrived on site at around 6.30p.M. The information received from Carefree,through which we had booked, indicated that Reception was open until late. It was closed at our arrival, and still closed when we left at 7.45 the following morning.
There is a barrier across the entrance which requires a number to be keyed in to gain admission. Thus, had a 'resident' not been nearby - and prepared to tell us this number - we would not have been able to enter the site and access a pitch.
We found two large toilet / facility blocks on site. The toilets had no toilet seats, and the facilities were not particulraly clean.
The 'convenience' to the port is thus mirrored in the higher than average costings for this site - a cost not reflected in the quality of the amenities.

Les Hautes Coutures is a great little campsite for either an overnight stop before or after a ferry crossing or for a couple of days while you visit the Normandy beaches or Bayeux. We stayed there twice this year, once on the way south and again at the end of the holiday. The staff are very efficient at checking everyone in quickly, particularly as there are often quite a number of caravans arriving at one time off the evening ferry. For one nighters there is a very open set of pitches at the bottom of the site where there is space to keep your car in front off the caravan ready to make a quick exit in the morning. Elsewhere the site has a more usual layout with smallish pitches (although just big enough for our twin axle) with good sized hedges giving privacy. The facilities were quite basic and relatively clean and all you need for a couple of nights. The bar and restaurant are bright and modern although the food was nothing special.
For children there is a small games room, good sized trampoline with safety net and a lovely multisports pitch. There is also a tennis court and mini-golf. There is a small pool but the site was displaying pictures of an impressive new pool area to be ready for the 2008 season.
For us this is definitely a site we will return to as it is only a couple of miles from the port at Ouistreham (Caen), very handy with pleasant, helpful staff.
