To find site:- From Ardres or the N42 take D224 to Licques. In the village follow signs to campsite.
Camping les Pommiers is a relatively new campsite which first opened in 2003. It is not to far from Calais so could be used as an alternative overnight stop to those campsites nearer the Port. It also has the advantage that it remains open until the end of October which could prove handy for late travellers. It is not a large campsite with about 55 pitches of which around 20 are touring pitches, all on grass, the rest being taken up with statics and chalets. There is an overflow area that could take, perhaps, another dozen units. Electric connections are in the main CEE17 connectors and rated at a very useful 16amps. Water points are dotted around the site but don't have much in the way of pressure. The toilet block is to a good standard with seated toilets but no paper provided. During the main season the site has a bar which does food. There is a small swimming pool. The site offers a discount on site fees to holders of the CCI Carnet.
The surrounding countryside is surprisingly attractive. The main shopping centres near Calais are about 20 miles away. Licques has two small supermarkets and there is a Boulangerie about a 10 minute walk from the site.

We have stayed here about 3 years running since first discovering it as a useful stopping place that's not too far from Calais. When we first stayed there we really liked the place as it was quiet and the owner friendly and helpful, but after last year's horrendous stay I doubt if we'll be returning. As another reviewer said it is no longer a quiet little site, and has grown much too big now for the number of toilets / showers.
Last year the first pitch we were given was opposite a chalet where the people put very loud music on in the morning - and it stayed on! This was obviously the normal sort of behaviour as well as a lot of the chalets seemed very noisy.
We wanted to stay another night so we could go to the beach, but we had to move pitches because we hadnt booked and our pitch was needed, so we were put down into the lower field. We weren't too sorry as we were glad to get away from the chalets, but it was definitly frying pan/ fire time! In the evening the french campers in the tent next door decided to put on a really loud cd and on seeing that we weren't very happy about it, played it over and over and over again! Luckily there was a downpour and they went inside their tent so the music was eventually turned down.
There was also a group of about 50 children on some kind of camping trip, which meant that the already overloaded toilet/shower block became very crowded indeed. All in all I think we'll look for an alternative place to stopover.

Went to this site for 1 week in july and had a really nice time. We had 3 children at the time and they all loved their week, but we were ready to leave after 1 week as we'd seen everything we wanted to see Toilets were clean but there's not enough for the size of the site. We had a meal in the pub which was nice and worth the price which wasn't too much The area around the site was ok but we found we had to take the car everytime, as when we went for walks there was not that much to see. Our 1 complaint would be the noise from the wooden holiday homes but that could be just the luck of that week as all the homes were full of teenage french kids, other than that our time was good and we would stay again but as a stop over not a week. The staff when we saw them were friendly but we didn't see them all that much.

This is such a little gem of a site that I'm not sure I want to tell anyone else about it! It's about 20 minutes from Boulogne, about 40 minutes from Calais and they don't seem to mind how late you arrive. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and is very patient with my execrable French. The loos and showers are clean and very well maintained. We have stayed there in transit three or four times now. This last time we were doing a midnight sailing on the Saturday night, which meant we had to leave about 10pm. The owner was very accommodating and only charged me for half a day. In fact he wasn't even going to charge me for that! When we had arrived the previous evening I had explained we would be there for a full night but had to leave at 10pm on the Saturday, and he only wanted to charge me for one night, but I said that didn't seem fair, so he charged me for another half a day.
We ate at the bar this time too and I have to say the food was really nice. You can buy bread and croissants at the reception. The village with shops is within walking distance and there is a small supermarket not far from Liques.
The only thing I don't like is the pool - it has a cover which means that it is open even if the weather isn't too good, but it's too noisy inside for me. My 2 kids love it though.
We have only stayed for a night or 2 on our way in or out of France, so I can't comment on any surrounding attractions. The last time we were there we had a glorious day at the coast which is only about 30 minutes drive away.

After reading the review by Dripping_Wet after we had booked this site we were slightly concerned, however we could not have had a better stay. We used the site as a 2 night stop over from Calais to the Vendee at the start of our holiday & again as an overnight stop on the way home. The pitches are slightly close together and this gives the feeling on being on top of each other, but the noise on the site was kept at a very respectable level at all times. The toilet & shower facilities were not adequate enough for the number of people on the site, but you never had to wait and they were always clean and tidy. The swimming pool is slightly small but OK. We did not try the food from the bar but the menu did appear a bit basic. Overall we were very pleased with this and would recommend it as a good overnight stop when using the port of Calais as it is only 30 minutes away.

From the outside this looked a nice campsite and according to the Michelin Camping France guide of 2007 this site was rated as a "Quiet site, especially at night" However this is far from the truth ! The site is made up of 9 wooden chalets, 24 permanent static vans and 29 pitches for tents / caravans. All had electrical hookups and were fitted with the modern blue European sockets. The best of the pitches that were available did not look like the grass had been cut for 5 weeks and as it had recently been raining this made things very wet and muddy. This seemed to be common throughout the campsite. It transpired that the site has since added a reception room for hire catering for 150 people which doubles as a games room. On the night we stayed they had let this room out for a wedding reception and the disco did not finish until gone 3:30 am. Subsequently half of the campsite seemed to be part of the wedding party and the noise that they made loudly shouting returning to their tents to gone well past 4 am was totally unacceptable to fellow campers. I note subsequently from their website that they claim not to hire this room out in either July or August however this was not the case on Saturday 25.08.2007. The 3 toilets and 4 showers per sex were very clean and modern however were inadequate for the amount of pitches. The children's play area was a good size and well equipped and the site had a swimming pool which was rather on the small side. Furthermore the low plastic roof 3 foot above ground level made it feel like you were swimming in a goldfish bowl.
