A really tranquil site, 1passing car in 4 hours in the day and the hoot of the owls at night that's as noisy as it got. Planned to stay 2 nights stopped 4. The toilet and shower were very clean with an endless supply of hot water no extra charge. The use of a fridge at no extra charge a rare thing these day's. The owners were so friendly and accommodating, attractions to see The Trogealite caves and especially the BIOPARC ZOO, not to be confused with the run of the mill zoo's a must to see it's like jurrasic park with the birds flying free above your head and no bars to look through. We highly recommended this campsite

This was just an idyllic campsite. Just what we like. Quiet, peaceful, not busy with children etc. They were the perfect hosts and the welcome from other campers was amazing. The facilities were clean and looked after and we lazed around in warm sunshine for 2 weeks. Our best holiday (and farthest trip in our caravan) but well worth the drive. Cant wait to return in 2013.
Our pitch was perfect, situated between trees but facing the sun as it rose every morning which meant we could drink coffee in the sunshine every day and then prepare our breakfast outside.

We had a wonderful 5 night stay with John & Mary and it set an excellent tone for the beginning of our holiday. As fellow Yorkshire folk, we had a lot in common and it was good to feel the stereotypical 'northern friendliness' is easily exported with no loss in transit :-) They were kind enough to show us their photo album showing the developments in renovation of their home. It has obviously been a labour of love!
Their campsite is unspoiled by any hustle & bustle and is certainly reminiscent, in both size and nature, of the CL type sites known by UK caravanners. A single (good & hot) shower, loo and domestic fridge are provided in what was once the donkey shed. Without electricity, we paid €10/night for a tent and 2 adults. Vernantes and the supermarket is barely 5 miles away (Super you on the D58 towards Vernoil).
My SAT NAV took us to their door (used co-ordinates here: http://goo. Gl/maps/0rnn3).
Our tourist treks took us to Château d'Azay-le-Rideau (an hour away) which was well worth the visit (via Langeais, also worth the stop) and in Saumur to Parc Miniature Pierre et Lumière at http://www. Pierre-et-lumiere. Com/ and Mushroom museum (Musée du Champignon) at http://www. Musee-du-champignon. Com/. These could be visited on a combined ticket discounted for the 2 locations but not necessarily visited on the same day.
We hope to visit again and would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

What a brilliant place to go to 'chill'. Sat-Nav. Took us straight to the little piece of paradise we were looking for on our 'get away from the UK' holiday.
John and his wife (the hosts) made us very welcome and the people already on site, quite a mixed bunch, were good fun, very helpful, and drank most of our red wine!
We stayed for 8 nights and had a really good visit.
Site close to a lot of beautiful French villages and rivers. Saumur, again, well worth a visit for the day.
Good little restaurant in Vernoil and Super you only 4 miles away with fuel station. Attractions. The Loire Valley!
Amenities basic but kept clean. Just one shower and one loo, but rotas worked well if needed??
Looks like we'll be there again on our next visit to France, next year.

Arrived on site to a warm welcome from the owners Mary & John. We had booked their flat for a total of 17 nights and found it perfect for our first holiday without the tent. Everything you could possibly need was provided and the seating and beds were comfortable. It is in a very peaceful location and very handy for numerous tourist sites. We would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely place whether camping or renting the flat. All in all, a very relaxing holiday. GPS co-ordinates are 47, 26, 13 / 0, 00, 25

Site was not as difficult to find as some people have made out, although perhaps putting 'lieu dit La Fortinerie' might have helped.
Site is easier to access from the west, rather than the east, as we did, but both are do-able!
Site is perfect for cl lovers. It's in a lovely location, quiet and charming.
There is a shower, sink and toilets, which were very clean.
There is lots to do in the area and for children, not just adults.
Site owners could not have been more helpful or more friendly. Would thoroughly recommend this site.

This is a lovely CL type site in a very quiet location well away from any traffic or other noise (apart from the crickets). The site is a small field with fruit trees, so there is a choice of sunny or shaded locations. The owners, Mary and John, are very welcoming and helpful. Facilities include a toilet, washbasin and shower, together with a dishwashing sink. There are EHUs.
The local area has interesting villages and towns and is away from the 'bustle' of the Loire valley itself, but this is easily accessible. Langeais is well worth a visit, as is Chinon.
Others have commented that the site is difficult to find, so here is my recollection:
Take the D38 from Vernantes towards Mouliherne. After about 3km of straight road there is a righthand bend with the entrance to a chateau on the right. Take the next left in about 200 m, which is signposted 'Plaissance'. At the first cross roads, turn right. The site is on the left in about 1. 5 km. If you reach another road joining you from the left, you have overshot! The site is effectively in the triangle between these minor roads.
Bon Voyage!

Lovely stay at this small, quiet site. Booked for 5 days and stayed for 10. Hosts were very friendly and facilities were basic but clean (toilet, shower, fridge about covers it)
Good central location for the Loire, Angers and Tours although does require use of a car to get about. Supermarkets choices were about 10 to 15 mins away in the car.
Also good range of weekly markets to visit as well.
Nice base for cycling with some good 2-4hr routes from the site and easy to drive to Loire cycle route as well.
Mouliherne is a quiet village which at time of writing was lacking anywhere to eat (although it was around bank holiday time). If this is important I would check at time of booking. Can recommend the truck stop in Auverse which is about 10 mins away in the car!(nothing like UK truck stops).
Would stay again.

We stopped off at this site for 3 nights on our way up to Calais. It is lovely and peaceful and in the heart of the countryside. Great value for money and the facilities are fine with a nice hot shower and kept nice and clean. The only drawback we found was that it was almost impossible to find. There are no instructions on the website and no signs until you are almost there. The postcode takes you to a farm about a mile away. We spent a very frustrating hour and a half searching for the site after a 7 hour drive so we arrived stressed and cross. However the one other camper on the site said that they had found it using the grid references but if you do not have a sat nav make sure you have a very good map. Otherwise a super site.

Spent 5 days at La Fortinerie and it was excellent a nice quite place good cycling in the woods and roads. It is a typical CL site there is a shower and toilet which are kept very clean and there is always loads of hot water. The local village is only 2 miles away with a bakers, small shop and 2 bars. Saumur is only a short drive away and the market on a Saturday is good with plenty of fresh local produce. Mary and John make every effort to make sure your stay is relaxing. We will go there again in the future.
