We arrived on the Saturday afternoon to a crowded campsite. Unable to enter the pub I telephoned to say we had arrived and enquire where we should pitch our tents. I was told just to pitch up and pay when the pub was open.
We found a pitch in the corner and set up camp.
During the two days we camped we were not always able to access the toilets between the times specified. The portaloo provided was blocked and remained so for the entire duration of short stay.
The campsite is very basic and, based on the facilities, expensive.

We were lucky enough to be given a small touring caravan recently and looked on the internet to find a nice pub with a campsite – the intention being that we could have a nice meal and a few glasses of wine and not have to drive home. We read several reviews and picked The Bell at Buckland Dinham near Frome. We weren’t disappointed – the landlord and landlady were very welcoming, the food was amazing – so good in fact that we ate there every night. The campsite was a large field – there are no electrical hook-ups or hard stands but that suited us just fine – we don’t like to be told where to park and the fact that there are so few rules was very refreshing. There is a sink and a water tap and a loo. There was loads of room, it was very quiet (just a little noise from the cockerels) – you can have barbeques and the pub does takeaways if you don’t want to eat in the restaurant. It was bliss! We’ll definitely be back there as soon as possible. My husband said he was in cider heaven!

Stayed here last summer on what turned out to be a fantastic weekend.
My wife and I had the whole field pretty much to ourselves and loved the serenity. If the noise of chickens and cows isn’t your thing then you might not find the place as serene as we did.
The toilets in the pub are spotless but of course only open during pub hours.
The site is large enough to not feel hemmed in by other campers.
Camp fires are allowed and the pub landlord hires out pits and sells logs - a great bonus!
The chickens produce eggs and if you are lucky enough and place an order, there will be fresh free range eggs in the morning.
Pub food superb and beer is good. The couple that run the place are friendly and welcoming.
Local area is great to discover by bicycle with loads of good cycle routes.

This is the campsite if you want to get back to nature--chickens pecking around your pitch, even an egg laid right beside your pitch (if you're very lucky!) What more could the children want!
It's close proximity to Longleat and many other local attractions also makes it ideal for entertaining the little ones--even on a rainy Somerset day!
The pub food is amazing--my husband had the very best Rib-eye steak he has ever had--and he's tried many! A really varied menu using wonderful local ingredients and all cooked to order--simply delicious!
The Landlord and Landlady are so friendly, he's always fun and will go out of his way to make sure you have all you need! They make you so welcome and those toilets are fabulously clean and warm, bonus on a chilly wet Somerset day!
We can't wait to visit again, it's not your 'usual' cramped and crowded site with too many rules! We were even allowed a 'fire' in the pit, a real camp-fire! It was a perfect place to enjoy all Somerset has to offer. Oh! I forgot it's quiet too! it's only a village road--hardly a sound except the birds! (Oh and a Cockerel or two!)

Lovely quiet area - fairly close to Longleat - campsite had everything we needed - toilet open from 8:30am for most of the day and then closes at midnight. Tap for water on site also. We have 2 children, 3yr old and 10wk old and didn't need anything else!
Beautiful little pub, with stunning converted barn! Lovely food. The toilets were spotless and if you didn't want to access them through the pub, you go through the lovely garden at the rear. The landlord was very friendly and there are free ranging chickens, so great if you have children!
We had a lovely weekend and will definitely stay here again.

Flat, fairly sheltered field, campfire area, tap. Good basics but great site when you add in lovely location, cosy and welcoming traditional pub serving good food and with clean (& warm) loos available most of the day! Landlord very laid-back and helpful, no-hassle place to set up camp and explore surrounding area. Close to Longleat and not too far to Glastonbury, Wells etc and even Clark's Retail Outlet in Street if you fancy shopping til you drop.
All in all a good base with easy-going atmosphere. We will return when it's better weather!
