Just returned from Camping and Caravan Club Rally here. Spent 6 nights on this site and it was a fantastic experience.

The site itself is huge. There are shower/toilet blocks dotted around with plenty of facilities and always being cleaned.

There is a good supermarket on site, along with a restaurant and bar. The restaurant do an all-you-can-eat buffet for about 19Euro, arrive early and eat well.

The town is walking distance and very pleasant. As you enter the first tiangle-shaped area, the Italian restaurant on the left is lovely. Venture further into the town - if you see a Chinese restaurant called 'Legends' - stay out! It is awful.

Site pool - the only disappointment for me was there was no pool solely for campers, the free outdoor pool and the Tikibad waterpark can all be accessed by paying visitors to the theme park. However, the outdoor pool was nice and not that crowded.

Tikibad water park - Ace. Don't underestimate the speed of these slides, they are fantastic.

Theme park - superb. Free to use by campers again and again and some real quality rides, the queues were ok too.

Beach - there is a beach a short drive/cycle away - very clean and some nice snack bars on entrance, well worth a visit.

I would definitely go back here to hit the attractions for a few days and then move on, but don't think I would do another week there. Highly recommended for a crazy time and the kids (old and young) will love it.

I scored this holiday highly on value for money, but I did pay 'Rally' prices. Still - definitely one to put on your list of places to go.

This site was filthy.

Please note, my comments relate to the campsite and its facilities, not the theme park or the Tiki pool which are both excellent.

We booked our pitch (for 3 nights) through Carefree. When we arrived at our allocated pitch we were greeted by a used disposable nappy and other litter including paper bags and soil / mud as there was no grass on the pitch.

When we reported the state of our pitch to the reception staff on day 1 their response was 'is that all you want to say?'.

The nappy and other litter had not been removed by Duinrell staff when we left 4 days later.

The unhelpful attitude of the staff was made worse when they directed us to a fresh water refill point, in a space only big enough for a small family car, which was in fact only a waste point. Unknown to us (and presumably them) our pitch had a fresh water tap.

The toilet block appeared to be cleaned in the middle of the day. Notwithstanding this there was nearly almost always soiled toilet bowls and floors covered with toilet paper.

Admittedly the site was busy, but poor hygiene is not excusable.

We visited Duinrell at Easter, staying in a Eurocamp static. Initially the check in experience was somewhat fraught as there was a massive queue and only two reps checking people in, I'd say it took about 40 minutes.

Our van was very clean and just down the road from the Plaza. The statics are in rows and fairly closely packed in, luckily ours was set apart slightly on a row end.

The site itself is very big but clean and well looked after. There is a supermarket that is pricey, but comparable with other campsite shops. There is entertainment but we didn't go, so can't comment.

There is a large theme park which you have free entry to. Get there before it opens and let the kids go in the large adventure playground while you wait for the rides to open! There are several big rollercoasters, a log flume, ferris wheel and loads of other rides. Well worth visiting a number of times. The queues weren't too bad, although there were lots of large school parties visiting on most days.

The waterpark on site is also huge and although not free is subsidised if you stay on site. 3. 50 Euros for 2 hours per person. Excellent park, be careful when you go as it does get very busy. The lifeguards are very strict, if you have a child below a certain height (about 1. 3m or so) they will ask if they can swim 25m unaided. If they can't then they have to have armbands to even go in the pool with an adult. We had to buy some for my 8 year old as she can only swim about 10m even to play in the shallows.

The town of Wassenaar is just outside the gates of the park, so worth a stroll in the evening. There is an icecream parlour that is very good and seemed to get a lot of trade from the park.

Generally we thought the park was good, but the clientèle not so. There are a large amount of British tour operators using the site -Canvas, Thomson, Eurocamp, Keycamp and sadly the site seemed to attract a certain fraternity who were intent on getting drunk all night and making a huge amount of noise. The security were very hot on making your you had your passes to get in and out of the site, but didn't seem to patrol at night to check on noise.

I'd imagine the areas for touring caravans, which were well away from the statics probably weren't as noisy, although they were right next to the theme park so probably more noisy during the way.

Overall we liked the facilities of the site, but wouldn't return.

This was our first trip abroad with the caravan and started well with a crossing from Harwich to Hook of Holland. Would recommend booking a cabin, as this made the journey far more pleasant.

The site was easy to find, about 45 mins from the Hook of Holland. Booking in was ok- you have to park in the car park and walk to reception. It's not clearly sign posted where you need to park and what you need to do.

Our pitch was on grass, it was average size, but easy enough to pitch on. We have previously stayed in Caravan Club Sites, so were a little surprised at the slightly unkempt nature of grass and hedges, but it was not a problem at all, just an observation.

Toilet Block was large, clean and well maintained.

Our children (14, 12) enjoyed the Theme Park, which is FREE for campsite residents. We didn't use the swimming pool as there was too much else to do.

The C1000 supermarket in Wasenaar was excellent. You need to be careful where you park in the daytime as it was a display badge area. The evenings were fine to park outside the shop. It was within walking distance of the campsite though.

We used public transport quite a lot. A bus to Den Haag can be caught at the park entrance. The train service is good, but a little expensive. However we found that all the cities we visited had a good Park and Ride service that was very reasonably priced. (Rotterdam and Amsterdam).

Places that we would recommend are Escher Museum, Den Haag, Anne Frank's House, Amsterdam (book online before you go to avoid queues) and Gouda (Cheese Market on Thursdays) and Rotterdam.

Overall, we loved our first experience abroad. We were very happy with the campsite, Wasenaar is lovely. We stayed for two weeks and would definitely go back, but think it could also be used as a stop off enroute to somewhere else.

We stayed the first week of the Easter holidays in a eurocamp static as it was cheaper than taking our van!

The site was very clean, lots af facilities several restaurants on site and a takeaway where the service was very slow 20mins wait for 2 portions of chips! Supermarket well stocked but pricey. Hire of bikes and go karts, adult bike was 9euro per day. The bike ride along the coast was lovely. A good mix of rides in the park to suit all ages. The swimming pool was very good but very busy on our three visits. Wi-fi is available but not free on site.

Having a nosey at the touring pitches most seemed quite tight with very little space between pitches/vans, this was partly due to some vans being pitched sideways and others backing in.

The security barrier staff were very relaxed as we didn't have to show our pass cards at all as we walked in so anyone could wander around.

The town was lovely lots more shops/eateries than I had expected the supermarket was very good and many things cheaper than they are at home.

We found public transport expensive child prices only go to 11 years so paying 30 euro's for 4 of us to go to Leiden return on the bus when its only 10mins up the road by car was a bit much! Using the car was easy and we had no problems parking anywhere we went to.

'Corpus' is a new journey through the human body which only opened in March at Leiden it was great aimed at older children/adults with an audio tour and 4D effects we really enjoyed it.

The site is easy to find with clear signage off the main motorway. During our visit there were drainage works on some of the routes to it which was a bit tight with the caravan (two inches either side between parked cars and a works lorry).

This was our first stop off on our Dutch trip and we were not impressed by the standard of pitch. We had an all service pitch which was poor. The grass was about six inches long and the pitch itself was a rutted sandy mess. The tap on our pitch seemed to be used by all around us and it was only a push button on so we could not connect the water. We found the pitches cramped and people trying to take up more space than they were entitled to with huge awning annexes and windbreaks.

This was in the Romatisch Camp. I walked round the other areas and they were all in a similar condition. I don't think they are ever empty in the summer.

The access to the camping pitches is very tight so be careful. It is confusing where to go on arrival and we eventually worked out that you entered the main car park where the attendants showed us to the bus parking area to park. You then walk back to the main reception to book in before taking the caravan to the pitch. The signs are not clear.

The facilities on the site itself are excellent. The toilet blocks are immaculate and the on site theme park is also very clean and tidy. This is mainly suited to younger children from five to ten years old. My six year old loved it and the large swing park. The site is too big to let children go off on their own as they would probably get lost.

The eating places are expensive although there is an Aldi close by for cheaper alternative. The site can be noisy at night due to the sheer number of people staying there. We also found it far too busy with kids on go carts/bikes nearly taking you out every time we walked around.

The Tiki pool is good but extremely busy. It is good value at the discounted rate for campers but the pool is heavily chlorined so wear goggles. My daughter loved the wave pool and the lazy river.

This was fine for a two night stay and it made us really appreciate our next site in Delft which was fantastic and much more relaxed.

This site is like a busy Haven site in the UK.

Our first trip abroad with the caravan and we loved it! Ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland was easy and a real pleasure. I really wouldn't bother paying extra for an overnight crossing unless you have very small children who might be tricky to entertain for 7 hours. Driving on 'wrong' side of road was no where near as bad as we had expected and finding the site was no problem.

We were happy with our pitch although we wouldn't have liked it so much in a tent as the weather even in August was very wet and tent pitches did seem to flood. (Strangely it was lovely and warm just very wet in the mornings it seemed) Our tenting neighbours had to cut their holiday short after their pitch got so wet the whole tent was ankle deep in water!

The site was just brilliant. Facilities were all clean and well designed. Showers were a pleasure to use. Watch out for the bizarre piped music, very entertaining!

Theme park was excellent, our children 15 and 8 loved it. Dont miss the little kiddies train, think its called the Trollen Express (?) very cute inside and again very bizarre music! Tiki pool also fantastic for children and far far cleaner than the UK equivalents.

On site shop we found to be reasonable and to stock a good range, catering was VERY pricey though. Site is literally just across a road from Wassenar, a small but pretty town that has two small supermarkets. Good access to everything you could really want to see that end of the Netherlands although other people we spoke to on site never left as they were apprehensive about the driving but they still had a full week just enjoying the site. The art museum in Rotterdam (museum van bojimans beuningen is free on a Wednesday so great to absorb a bit of culture on the cheap!) Dont miss the Witch Scales at Oudewater its a tiny museum where you can be weighed on their ancient scales and you are issued with a certificate to prove you aren't a witch!

Overall we would whole heartedly recommend Duinrell and our children adored it and are desperate to go back and its not often a site works so well for 15 year olds and 8 year olds.

JUST RETURNED FROM A TEN DAY STAY ON A COMFORT BASIS 100SQM PITCH. HAD A LOT OF RAIN, BUT A MIXTURE OF SAND AND SOIL MEANT THE PITCH DRAINED WELL. WASH AND TOILET FACILITIES KEPT CLEAN AT ALL TIMES DESPITE BEING BUSY, ALSO VERY MODERN.

SUPERMARKET WELL STOCKED BUT PRICEY, VISIT THE C1000 IN WASSANAAR CLOSE BY FOR BETTER PRICES.

EATERIES ON SITE WERE NOT CHEAP EITHER SO WE DIDN'T TRY THEM.

THE TIKI POOL GOT VERY CROWDED AND EVEN THOUGH OUR DAUGHTER COULD SWIM SHE WAS MADE TO WEAR ARMBANDS BECAUSE SHE WAS UNDER 1. 2MT TALL.

IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE PRIORITY WAS THE CHUTES AS THESE ARE EVERYWHERE, GOOD IF THAT'S YOUR THING.

THE THEME PARK HAD A VARIETY OF RIDES AND ATTRACTIONS FOR ALL AGES AND PROVIDED PLENTY OF FUN FOR US ALL.

WASSENAAR IS A LOVELY LITTLE TOWN WITH SHOPS AND A FEW RESTAURANTS. THE TOWN OF LEIDEN IS 20 MINS AWAY AND WELL WORTH A VISIT AS IS THE BEACH JUST UP THE ROAD.

TO SUM UP, A FAMILY FRIENDLY SITE WITH GOOD FACILITIES AND PLENTY OF PITCH OPTIONS. THOSE LOOKING FOR PEACE AND QUIET WILL NOT BE SUITED TO DUINRELL. WE ENJOYED OUR STAY HERE AND WILL VISIT AGAIN.

This site is great for the family holiday.

It is within easy reach of the ferry from either Hull or Newcastle. Some of the pitch areas are tight to get big units into but once on you pitch there is plenty of room.

The toilet facilities are clean and there is plenty of hot water in the showers all day.

There is loads of good rides and a nice big play park for the kids (we have 2 boys 8&5).

We were lucky and got fantastic weather (no rain just lots of sun around 30 Degrees) but this park would still be ok in not so good weather as it is fairly sheltered by trees.

There is a lovely beach about 4K from the site which is well worth going to if the weather permits.

The staff are helpful and the shop on site is a little pricey but it is to be expected. There is a C1000 supermarket in Wassenaar itself which is better prices. The takeaway on site a complete rip off though and I suggest eating in unless you are loaded (20 euro for 2 burgers, chicken nuggets and 2 lots of chips)

Anyway this is one I will hopefully get a chance to revisit next year.

We liked this site, although given the challenging weather, 5 days was probably too long. First, the campsite. We booked direct with the park (4 nights in non electric pitch, euros 129), found the site easily as there were plenty of road signs, camped in the natural camping ground which was lovely, secluded pitches in pine woods leading onto sandy dunes then the beach. There was very heavy rain while we were there, but the sandy ground drained quickly. We had a very windy night when quite big branches broke off the surrounding trees. The showers (free)and toilets were brand new and perfectly clean all the time. We didn't find the washing up place, just used the sinks in the shower rooms. No plugs are provided in the sinks. There are good recycling facilities. This part of the site is far enough away from the rides to be very quiet at night.

Next the things to do. Usually we prefer back to nature style camping, so this was a big change. The children (7 & 9) loved the freedom to go off around the funfair by themselves. There were plenty of rides to keep them happy, some too scary, some too babyish but a good range. There were very short queues for a couple of rides, otherwise it was straight on without waiting. There were enough coffee stalls and snack places to keep the parents happy too. The site hires out bikes, trolleys and 4-wheeled bike things for the kids, there were plenty of these whizzing about. The funfair kept our kids amused for 3 days, then they'd had enough. The indoor pool was really hot, with cramped changing cubicles. Loads of fast flumes and rides, mostly with 10 or 15 min queues. The lazy river was packed with bodies and there was very little open pool space for ordinary swimming. Maybe it all seemed crowded because the outdoor pool was closed, probably because of the terrible weather. Kids enjoyed the pool for 3 days. The local beach (20-30 min bike ride away) is huge, sandy, with a few good cafes. Water rather murky and the surrounding area a bit industrial-looking. Fab place for a bracing walk. The local village has all the supermarkets and cafes you need. The shops on the site were more expensive than in the village, and we didn't think the quality of the food in the 2 cafes that we used on the site was very impressive at all.

We all agreed we'd really enjoyed this trip, but the weather was so terrible, we decided to find a similar place in the south of europe next time.
