Me, my partner, our 10 yr old boy and 6 month old baby have just arrived back from this site and we loved it. The setting is just beautiful, the field is set in a valley surrounded by gorgeous hills (virtually mountains)and has a lovely river at the bottom of the site. It was bank hol weekend and was very hot which helped. The area is very nice and the pub was good to sit outside on the benches and have a beer, the beer garden also has pens with chickens, turkeys, rabbits goats etc. which is a winner for the kids. My only grumble with the site itself is that it's basic, the 2 toilets are quite far away and there are 2 water taps and that's it, but is still very doable. Our boy loved the river and so did the dog. We really enjoyed our 2 days there and nearby castleton and hope are great 4 day trips. I recommend this site to anyone who can live with the basic set up.

We stayed here the last weekend of August, and it really felt like we were in the middle of nowhere (until the trains came past!)
This site is about 20mins beautiful walk through field to the village of Edale and the two pubs there (both pubs have lots of outdoor bench etc for you to sit in the sun having a beer).
We rang just before we arrived, and were told to go straight into the field with the caravans in, we didn't think that this sounded too great, but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find that the 4 caravans were there permanently, and only 2 were occupied, both by friendly and helpful couples. We parked up, only on find that the trains really did run right across the bottom of the field we were in. We thought this might be a problem, but actually it was quite funny and if you like trains, or have kids you like trains, you'd be on to a winner.
Over the bridge, the site goes on - just tents, but the field is massive, and would fit loads more tents than the 20 quoted on the details for this site. This area was more noisy than the field we were in, more of a party, but everything calmed down by 11pm. The facilities are really basic. Two toilets (with paper) and cold water taps (no sinks). That's it. But the people who were there love this site. If you want fantastic views, lovely walks, basic facilities and don't mind trains, it's for you. £4 a night each. We'd go back, but not for more than a couple of nights as the facilities are SO basic.
