A fantastic, quiet site. We arrived on the first day of the season, and were the first to arrive. Unfortunately, due to the rain over the previous days, many of the pitches were out of action, although this is no reflection on the wardens, just mother nature!
It's a basic site, so you will need your own conveniences! The pub across the road does the best steak I've ever tasted and would recommended this highly, OH had the mixed grill, and again he recommends highly!
The site is a great base to explore the Moors, and we will be visiting again!

Spent three nights at this excellent campsite. There are no shower or toilet facilities on site, so you have to be willing to use your own. This is reflected in the site's cheap pricing. However, all pitches have electric hook up and there are water and disposal points around the site.
It is perfectly located for exploring the North York Moors. The village has two excellent pubs and a handful of shops and cafes. There is also a 9-hole golf course which welcomes people on a casual pay as you play basis. Nearby Hutton-le-Hole and Pickering are also worth a look.
Overall, an excellent site, will use again.

Just returned from this site. There is no toilet block but this is reflected in the price which offers great value. The maintenance of the site is top quality. The best thing about this site is the fact that you are positioned in the charming village of Rosedale Abbey. There is a great pub across from the site entrance where you can sit out on a pleasant evening. The food served was very nice. There are two tea shops in the village and in one there is a small shop offering a small selection of groceries and newspapers. Sadly The Milburn Arms which was a pub well known for its food closed down in November 2008. There is also another caravan and camping site next door to this site which has statics and seems to be used more by campers than caravanners. You can use their shop which sells things like camping gas, cooking spares etc. Flamingo Land is well worth a day out and is only about 15 minutes away in the car. Dalby Forest is also good fun but you have to pay to enter the forest by car. There is a Go Ape if you like heights. Television signal is not bad but you cannot get any signal at all on a mobile. Overall lovely little site in a great location. Not loads to do for kids but mine enjoyed going into the village on their own.
