Just got back from a perfect weekend. This is peaceful small site in the country. Between April and May the farm is lambing and calving, which is great for the kids. Other animals include inquisitive hens, cats and friendly old English sheep dog. My girl was lucky enough to help bottle feed some orphan lambs. The owners made us feel very welcome, without being intrusive. A good flat grassy field, with electric hook up if required. Water and waste are at one end. Good clean facilities that you would expect from a CL and well worth the £10 per night. Would definitely recommend and would definitely revisit.

Had a very enjoyable may day weekend at Brenk house.
Little gem of a site just outside the village of coxwold. The camping field is situated at the back of working farm with stunning views.
Lovely flat field with ehu along the farm wall which provides shelter from the wind.
Basic facilities but clean and well worth the £10 per night with ehu.
Situated near Byland Abbey and many little villages within walking distance. A perfect base for walking around the area.
Well recommend this site if you are looking for a small and friendly campsite for a peaceful weekend away

Very nice, and friendly site,
The owners are very helpful, helping you on arrival.
Nice clean single toilet, pot wash and warm free shower.
Nice price for a nice site.
The farmer even towed us out of the mud after a washout easter weekend.
Sited very close to Byland Abbey. And the village of Coxwold.
Good base for Thirsk and the Howardian Hills.
We will be back soon.

What a beautiful little site! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here this weekend. It's a lovely small site in a very peaceful area near to Byland Abbey.
There are pubs in walking distance (nearest one is about 1/2 a mile away) and the one we went to which is next to the Abbey was very nice, although we didn't eat in there so I can't comment on the food.
The site is also near to Thirsk which is a lovely town where you will find the James Herriot Museum which, in my opinion, is well worth a visit.
The owners of the site were very friendly and helpful and it is a very well run site.
The only minor problem is that there is only one toilet and one shower but as the site is so small this doesn't really become an issue. However the facilities were kept very clean and tidy.
We will definitely be going back to this site. At only £7 per tent per night it is well worth the money.

We've just spent a lovely weekend on this idyllic site behind Brenk House Farm.
The camping field itself is flat, sheltered, well manicured and well laid out with electric hook ups along the back wall where vans tend to pitch in a line overlooking the sheep field to the front, although we were offered an extension lead if we fancied being a bit further away.
We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and were shown the toilet and shower which are in the outbuildings of the farmhouse, very clean and the shower is electric so hot water is not a problem. There is a waste disposal for for grey water and toilet chemicals and a separate drinking water point.
It is a working farm so you see plenty of livestock, chickens , sheep, cows etc.
The surrounding area is ideal for walking and cycling with an on road cycle route passing the gates to the farm and a number of off road routes starting from the nearby Sutton Bank visitors centre where you can buy walking and cycling guides.
There are three good pubs doing food within a 15 minute walk of the site and a little further afield is the Black Swan at Oldfield which looked like a fantastic gastro pub.You do have to check out the opening times though as some only open lunchtimes and have limited evening hours.
The local post office and store in Coxwold has recently closed down but there is a shop in nearby Ampleforth with pretty good opening hours.
All in all a cracking little hideaway for less than a tenner a night!
