Just returned from our second visit. Were able to sample the ice-cream this time which is delicious! The children's trail and zip-slide had been added since our last visit which proved popular with my children. They loved the park again and meeting lots of other children.
There are 2 showers, 2 toilets (1m/1f) & a disabled one plus 3 washbasins. There were 12 units there during our stay and the facilities were always available and kept very clean. The farmhouse also sells free-range eggs from their own hens. Ollie the dog visits in the hope of scraps and is very soft and doesn't mind being shooed away if dogs are not your thing!
We visited Longtown castle and the Blaenavon Ironworks during our stay and the whole area is great for walks of all abilities. Lovely to have the views of mountains from our tent to and we look forward to our next visit!

Can only reiterate what other reviewers said - lovely site. Bit exposed (hence the lovely views) and a little bit on a slope (good drainage).
Our three dogs also loved it as they were allowed to play with the resident farm dogs.
Nice play area and woodland trail plus adventure playground. If you like watching cows, sheep and pigs you are also in the right place. Only noise that I could hear was the mooing of the cows during milking.
Great ice cream right at your doorstep. The site is fairly quiet during the week and slightly busier at the weekend.
Would of course go again - fabulous site.

I have just got back from my third visit to this site in 12 months (and it's about a 3 hour drive away, too!).
The site is lovely. OK - the field is on a slight slope and the ground isn't the flattest, but we love it anyway!
I spoke to Mark (the owner) when I arrived and asked if the site was going to be busy over the weekend, but he told me that they only allow around 70 PEOPLE on site at any one time - that works out to be about 15 or so units on a 2 acre field (ie. loads of space). They don't cram you in, which is refreshing.
The playground is great for the kids, the woodland trails are beautiful, and you're a short drive from Hereford, the Black Mountains, Hay on Wye, and so many other lovely places.
The one downside is that the water pressure in the showers is dire. Sometimes it really is just a trickle (it's not too bad if you're the only person in there, but if both showers are in use, it isn't great)
I love this site and will definitely go back!

Another lovely CS in a beautiful situation and with great customer service. Mark, the owner, went to the trouble to phone us the night before we were due to arrive to ask if it would be ok to pitch in the car park as the field was waterlogged, which was fine with us (better in fact).
It has lovely facilities which are kept sparkling clean and is easy enough to find; the views are lovely. The lane to the site is narrow so pray you don't meet anything.
We were charged £15 per night which we thought fair for what the site offers.
The ice cream is great and surprisingly good value; the cafe also sells quiche and suchlike. Children will love the adventure playground in the woods but if it's wet they (and probably you) will need a change of trousers and socks afterwards.
The nearest small shop / Post Office is at Pontrilas about a mile and a half away.
Agergavenny and Hereford are both about 11 miles away, Hay-on-Wye about 20 miles. Hereford has the nearest supermarket (Tesco).

Just got back from this site and have already booked again! We were the only people there so had it all to ourselves.
The site is a sloping field but has lovely views and we pitched close to the playground with Electric hook up (there are 6 electric hook up points). We have 3 children and they all loved being able to go off and play as they pleased. There are lots of little walks round the site including a wildlife walk and an adventure trail - which had an adventure play area including a big zip wire in the woods.
The facilities were fine - 3 loos and 2 showers all very clean. Showers weren't the most powerful in the world! There was a washing up area outside the facility block.
The ice cream parlour is only open on weekends when out of season but we still managed to visit a few times and brought lots of ice cream home with us.
There are not many shops at all but we found a large supermarket in Abergavenny (about 12 miles away.)
We ate out in one nearby pub which was basic and served simple and inexpensive food.Everyone in there was lovely! (Neville Arms).
We visited the Waterfall centre, The Big Pit and the Roman remains in Newport which were all about 1 hour away from the site. Would definitely have to recommend the Big Pit as is free and you get a guided tour round the mines.
We have a young family and found that this site was just what we needed on our first foray into CSs, quiet, well maintained and good location. Can't recommend it enough

This was an ideal, small site, close to the town of Abergavenny. The surrounding countryside is stunning and ideal for walkers. The town is large and has everything you need. The surrounding Black Mountains are stunning.
The site itself offered minimal facilities, including electricity, individual water points and disposal facilities. Site fees were excellent, at around £10 per unit.
An excellent site - would use again.

Lovely site - very quiet when we stayed there. Playground was great for the kids.
Toilets & showers have recently been built and are modern, clean and warm.
I would definitely stay here again!
Down sides:
Only two toilets and two showers (plus a disabled toilet / shower). We didn't have a problem when we were there, but the site was very quiet.
The grass was really long (6 to 8 inches) but as the ground was really wet due to silly amounts of rain, this was actually helpful because it kept the ground 'squishy' instead of 'mudbath'. I can say that, given the amount of rain we had whilst we stayed, the site has good drainage!

I booked this site for my family and 5 other tents. The owners are very friendly but unobtrusive, that is, they are around if you need them but you are left to relax and enjoy the field and facilities without feeling overlooked.
The location is great, lovely views and access to the Brecon Beacons only a short drive away.
Not great for anyone needing public transport, but would be a good stop-off for walking backpackers as it's a lovely area.
Organic ice cream dairy on site is a big attraction too and there is a terrific little play area with frames and an old tractor for the children to enjoy.
With only a couple of unisex toilets and showers the site can't handle too many people but was able to cope with about 40 people on May Day bank holiday weekend.

Stayed for May half term and thoroughly loved the site.
The play area kept the kids amused for ages - the willow structures are great for playing in.
Facilities are spotless - modern and clean.
The ice cream is delicious. The site can get noisy at times - with the neighbouring cows chewing, sheep bleating and birds singing! (but we liked it like that)
The site is well located for the Wye Valley and Black Mountains with the Brecon Beacons less than an hour away.
Owners are friendly and helpful. There is a new adventure play area taking shape in the woods.
Fantastic value for money. Will definitely return.
The only down-side is that when 2 (free) showers are used at the same time the water can become a dribble down the wall.
