This has to be our favourite site yet - great location, friendly owners and good facilities. The woodland walk is a nice little bonus but what sets this site apart is the playground. Good size & lots for the kids to play on and you feel perfectly happy to let (even younger) kids go off on their own and they'll be as safe as if they were in your own backgarden. I think this is the first site we have been to where this has been the case.
If I had to be critical at all it would be the free-running of dogs in the site (and playground if the gate is left open). This is a tricky one as the relaxed way the site is run is nice but the free-roaming of dogs and children is not a combination that immediately fills you with confidence and I'd like to see a rule that prohibits dogs from the play area. That said, it never actually caused us a problem and the dogs we did see were friendly. A small negative against a very pleasant stay.
As already mentioned, the homemade ice-cream is to die for.
The area is truly beautiful. Probably not the first you would think of (you'd usually pass through on the way to Brecon or Hay) but this is a stunning part of the world and highly recommended for a more relaxed break. There are also plenty of rambling opportunities and more castles in the area than I have ever come across.
All in all, we had a fantastic break here and have already booked for later in the summer.

We stayed at Rowlestone for 4 nights in May with our 'almost 2' year old and absolutely loved the site. This is not a large site but if you want a quiet get away you couldn't do better. The views are amazing, the animals and play area great for keeping a little one entertained and the washing / toilet facilities were warm and spotless. Couldn't really ask for more. Home made ice cream on site is obviously another huge plus point and we will definitely be returning

We stayed here during the Easter weekend and had gloriously good weather! It was cold at night (frost and fog at times) but the stars were a sight and we enjoyed the sounds of the owls and the dawn chorus.
The facilities are new and very clean (the number of each was mentioned previously). The ice-cream parlour was closed when we stayed (which we had been warned about) and is re-opening in May. The views are gorgeous, mountains wherever you look and guests are able to walk though the farm fields and woodland, surrounded by bird-song.
We met Mary the owner who is extremely pleasant and reassuringly relaxed about our 2 dogs - they have dogs of their own, who do pay you the occasional visit. The children's play-area was given a huge thumbs-up by our children (aged 8&6) and they liked the willow structure that is taking shape.
There are walks galore from the site and an unfolding landscape of hills, rivers, villages and mountains if driving in the surrounding area. We were pleased to find lots of friendly out-of-the-way village pubs, proving that decent pub grub & a smile is the way to run a business. There are also lots of castles and lovely churches in the area to visit, all mainly built within the Norman period which is a big influence in the area.
We have found a great place to stay in an area we like - we will be returning!

This is a lovely quite site, with some flat and some slightly sloping pitches providing panoramic views across the valley.
The children’s playground is large and safe with full visibility from the whole camping area.
There are 3 toilets (incl disabled), baby changing facilities and 2 large modern shared showers and basins. All were spotless.
The farm itself is a working one but the owners have created lovely walks and areas set aside for meadows and natural ponds. In many ways this site feels like going back 30 years, if you want excitement, music and onsite entertainment this is not the site for you. If you want a quiet safe family friendly site where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings then you will love this.
A stones throw from Rowlestone are the Black Mountains an area of outstanding walks and beauty.
We discovered this site by chance following their signs for farm made ice cream which is made and sold on site, we've been back several times in the last 2 years for single nights and long weekends, says it all really :-)
