A lovely, quiet, camp-site with beautiful views of the Purbeck hills (from the upper field at least). The facilities were always clean and well maintained for the ten days of our stay. The site is an ideal base for exploring the 'Jurassic coast', Swanage and Studland beaches, and represents such good value for money that the £8 daily charge for parking in the National trust car parks was not considered excessive.
This was our first foray into camping and we are now quite smitten, we will certainly return to this site at some point.
Our only concern is that this site might one day become overwhelmingly popular and thus lose some of its bucolic charm.

Pluses: lovely views, including of the steam train going past. 10 minute walk to Harman's Cross station to catch steam train to Swanage or Corfe (last trains around 11pm). Two fridge freezers freely available. No defined pitches. Footpath goes through the site and cows graze round the edges.
Negs: Basic facilities. Sloping site. Owners unwelcoming and verging on rude.

This site is perfect for back to basics summer camping and was a real delight to spend a pleasant sunny weekend at.
There are two main camping fields, a smaller largely level field that is close to the facilities and a much, much larger but very sloping in parts field that has the spectacular views. The smaller field was certainly busier, but not overcrowded whilst the larger field had 15 or so units on it, but all at least 20-30 metres apart, illustrating how large it is.
The facilities were very basic, bring your own toilet roll, but clean, and they were a very long way from the furthest pitch, 10-15 minutes there and back.
The best thing about the site among many, many positives was the owner who extended a very friendly welcome and walked around the site in the morning chatting to one and all. There is no better way to start off a trip than being made to feel welcome like this.
The steam railway is only five minutes walk away and a then 10 minute trip into Swanage. It was carnival weekend whilst I was there and Swanage was like Oxford Street at Christmas, but we were all treated to the Red Arrows.
To sum up, an ideal site for people who like the basics that camping has to offer and are quite capable of entertaining themselves. If you like a Haven holiday stay well away.

Primrose Hill Farm is a small working family farm overlooking Harmans Cross near Swanage. To get there, turn off the main Wareham to Swanage Rd in the middle of Harmans Cross, where there is a turning to the right (Haycrafts Lane) as you are heading towards Swanage. There are brown camping / caravan road signs, although we believe this refers to Haycraft Caravan Park (no tents). Primrose Farm is some 50 metres further on from Haycraft Caravan Park . It is a small driveway and easily missed although it does have a small sign for 'Primrose Hill Farm'.
Facilities are quite basic but adequate and were clean when we looked. There are two fields, neither of which are completely flat, although gradients aren't bad. We saw no marked out pitches and everything seems very informal. Gents Toilets, Ladies Toilets, a chemical toilet disposal point out in the lower field, and 4 showers (coin operated 20p for 4 minutes.) 2 male 2 female up near the barn.
The site is geared towards self sufficient family campers and couples and has very little in the way of on site facilities with no shop or entertainment. It is very much a base to sleep at after spending the day exploring the surrounding area, and not really suitable for families who are seeking entertainment and facilities on site for kids. There are also only 6 EHU's in a corner of the bottom fields for caravans.
Primrose Hill Farm is right in the middle of the Isle of Purbeck, close to some of the best beaches in the area towards Studland and Bournemouth, as well as the World Heritage Jurassic Coast including Kimmeridge Bay, Lulworth Cove and Chapmans Pool. Corfe Castle is just a few miles away, as is access to the Swanage Steam Railway which stops at Harmans Cross and allows you to go by steam train into Swanage. There are two garages, one of which incorporates a Spar Shop just over a mile or so away on the main Swanage Road (A351). High point of the year is the Swanage Carnival at the end of July, this year running from 25th July to 1st August.
Tariff when we visited was a basic £5 per adult and £2 per child under 14, so quite cheap for the area. The views across the valley are pretty good, and it's fairly quiet. They say they have around 50 pitches, and we only saw the one toilet block with 4 or 5 cubicles for men and I guess the same for women, and only 4 showers. Anyone camping at the top end of the Top Field will have a long trek at night to go to the toilets.
Conclusion. Cheap site for the area although with minimal facilities. Suitable for those who intend to be out all day exploring, and only come back for dinner and bed in the evening, or for people looking for a quiet site just to relax in the sun looking out across the valley.
