 The campsite is in a beautiful location on the top of a hill, with lovely views. We stayed in the recently renovated gite which gave us some of the luxuries of home, our own kitchen and bathroom, whilst still having full access to the facilities on the site.
With two young children (2 and 4 months), the campsite had great facilities, sand pit, playground and pool with shallow baby pool. And the bar was located close enough to our gite that we could relax their in the evening with baby monitors still in range.
Generally the site felt safe and friendly, and facilities were well located (sand pit close to the terrace to keep kids entertained whilst you relax). It was also clean and well maintained.
The owners were friendly and helpful with lots of suggestions for things to do and see in the area. They also arrange pony riding, which our two year old loved so much we did it twice.
The campsite is conveniently located in an area where there is a huge amount to see and do. We enjoyed walking round the immaculate gardens of one of the nearby chateaux, some great lunches, a boat trip down the river and some very relaxing days.
It's a good 10 to 15 minute drive to the nearest supermarket, but the hosts can provide fresh croissants, milk etc daily, and there are simple but good meals provided on site if you want them.
We are looking forwards to staying at the Mathevies campsite again and have already recommended it to friends and family.
