Stayed for 1 night in large group - 4 tents. Facilities basic but as advertised. Beautiful countryside and lots of room for kids to explore; of far greater concern to us than having mod cons. It's a pleasant stroll to the pub - didn't try the food but the beer was good and the atmosphere was very child friendly.
As stated on the website 'SatNav doesn't work very well here' so take note of the directions on the site. I decided to ignore this particular piece of advice and wasted a good 30 minutes of camping time!
All in all a clean, picturesque, no frills campsite, ideal in my book!

I've stayed here twice with a large group of friends - first in May 2009 and again in June 2010. It's a lovely spot with very basic facilities (portaloos and a hose) and campfires are allowed. Best of all it's a lovely 10 minute walk through the woods to The Sloop pub (now owned by the same people who run the campsite)which has a pretty garden and serves good food.
My only negative comment would be that on our second visit the lack of facilities was becoming problematic due to the number of campers - it is a huge site so doesn't feel crowded but the toilets and washing up sink were certainly feeling the strain!

A group of us have just stayed here costing £20 per person for the fri n sat night.
The owner positioned everyone very well, seems all the families where close to the porta-loos whereas the groups the other side of the field - keeps everyone happy.
The trail to the pub is beautiful, but frustrating to see all the dead wood laying around knowing you cant touch it. The walk is no longer than 10 mins. The pub looks inviting with a nice beer garden, prices for a pint of beer/cider is around £3.30, bottle of pinot was £13.50, ploughmans £8.95. Too expensive for me and they stopped serving food at 3pm.
The log man came round daily, £5 per box.
A kitchen sink with drainer is next to the porta-loos, no hot water, there is a tap with a bit of hose pipe attached, which I think people are calling the shower, its not, its good for filling water containers and washing muddy boots but that's about it.
We will all be staying there again very soon weather permitting

A group of 6 families (experienced campers) visited the site late May bank-holiday.
The surrounding country-side is beautiful, the site fields are also lovely. Despite there being acres of space in the fields the choice of pitches (2) we were offered was not great, and we opted for the better which was adjacent to the loo block.
By the end of the week-end those loos were not in a well kept state.
The children had a good roam around the site, there is a good tree swing.
As you can read from the brochure there are walks from the site through beautiful woods, but there is no shortage of 'keep out' signs, wander from the path at risk of being shot. This was very much a 'look, but don't touch' experience.
There are no refuse-facilities-their 'eco-philosophy' - not that there was anything eco about the loos.
The owners were friendly.
This is an expensive campsite, but was convenient for us.

A group of us went camping two weeks ago and had a fantastic weekend. The site is much bigger than it looks on the website and there is plenty of room to pitch.
It really is a very pretty area with lots of walks nearby. The Bluebell Railway and Sheffield Park are within walking distance.
Also, The Sloop pub is very close!
It has a relaxed atmosphere and James, who runs the site, is pretty laid back and friendly. He checks the site regularly to make sure there are no problems and can bring you wood for your fire.
The only downside was the shower which was cold water and not enclosed. I think James is putting a screen or fence around it. It's his first year for camping here and due to it's popularity, I'm sure James will change things for the future.
I would definitely return. Great fun.

Just spent the August Bank holiday here with two other family's. We had a fantastic time, very rural and rustic with basic amenities how ever the web site was very clear about this before we booked so no punch's pulled.
Jame's is a fantastic chap that runs the site and his attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm to make sure every thing was good and there were no issues was very refreshing.
As mentioned the site is very rural and basic, so if you are looking for a campsite that offers packed pitches, radio silence and kurfews after 10.00pm that's run by the goose stepping no fun police (as so many are)then this is not the site for you, if however you are looking for serenity, and good old fashioned basic camping with a place where your children can run and play in a safe environment, enjoy the company of good friends and family around a wonderful open fire then this is heaven (along with the odd glass of wine).
There are some great walk's around the campsite and one that eagerly led us to the Sloop Pub where we had a great doorstop sandwich's and then washed down with some wonderful local Ale, Jame's recommended The Rainbow which we ate out at a fantastic gastro pub however there are a few around and the Griffiin at Fletchly is also a worthy choice.
Around and about, the Bluebell railway is a stone's throw away and can be heard, Ashdown forest home of Winnie the pooh and pooh stick's bridge is a short drive as is the coast as well as a few stately homes and castle's.
The campsite is newly opened this August so Jame's was very open to hear any criticism's and suggestions, the site has portaloo toilets that were cleaned daily and a washing up area and refreshingly cold Au natural shower, however I believe there are plans for improved cleaning/bathroom area next year.
On the whole a wonderful piece of beautiful Sussex, rustic and basic that's run with a passion and enthusiasm to be admired.
We will very much be returning and looking forward to seeing you again Jame's, we all wish you every success.

This is a basic camping sites with limited facilities, which provides for the really genuine camping experience. Situated in a lovely green area of sussex countryside a few miles from Haywards Heath, Kitts is easy to find. Its a large field, currently with a few portaloos and a cold water sink - there ends the facilities list. James is a very friendly host, keen to ensure his guests are having a good time. He sells logs for the real fire experience. When we visited there where about 20 or so tents, a few slightly noisy large family groups, so if you don't like the sound of the kids larking around then this might be a turn off. On our second night, the bank holiday had finished and we virtually had the place to ourselves as everyone had gone home - it was pretty magic. 8 mins walk to the sloop pub with Haywards Heath nearby for provisions. Good biking nearby (prepare for the hills though) and mid sussex golf club about 20 mins drive away. Lovely peaceful weekend. Recommended.

Lovely campsite with stunning views.
Very spacious with lots of choice of where to pitch your tent!
James the owner was extremely helpful and welcoming,
Supplying much needed logs for camp fires.
Would of preferred have had some type of screen around the shower but that is our only criticism.
There is a very good pub close to the campsite called the sloop.
We suggest that you stock up on the food as the closest shop is a drive away.
All in all we had a great time!

Have just returned from a very enjoyable week-end spent at this very natural camp-site
The sign leading to the site is very small so keep your eyes peeled for it
We stayed on the large field surrounded by woods lots of space couldn't see other campers on the other side
No showers but ample porta-loos and washing up sink (cold tap) Camp fires permitted which were great fun and logs are available to buy from James, who along with Toby were perfect hosts Tobys wife sells free range eggs nearby which we can recommend, double yolkers !
Public footpaths lead you to a friendly pub nearby and in the other direction we followed the paths to The Bluebell Railway which is worth a visit
We will definitely be returning as we found it very laid back and relaxing
