We have just come back from here 16th to 23rd Aug 2013. This is an unmanned site so all your details are in your email i. E pitch number, which is slightly confusing when you get there but I rang the number on the portacabin door as you go in through the gates And the girl explained all this. Now this is a cheap campsite (you pay for what you get!) The toilets leave a lot to be desired, there are 5 showers which each have there own toilet and sink in the same cubicle. There are wooden benchs and a nice big hook on the back of the door for your clothes, towel and washbag. One of the shower cubicles is large for disabled or if like me you have kids. But its a mens and womens toilet block so you can imagine! I noticed that these are also cleaned by men so no offence to some men out there but the floors were swept out and blue put down the toilet and that was about it. So if I was you ladies out there, take some rubber gloves, bleach and some anti bacteria wipes! There is only one sink for washing up for the whole campsite but to be fair it wasn't that busy and I only had to queue once in that week. Watch your things though, if its windy it will blow your crocks away as I have plastic bowls and a big gust of wind blew one behind the shed and I noticed other peoples pots and pans behind there lol. As a whole it was ok for just one week I could put up with it but would I go back, probably not

Cheap but not cheerful. The showers and toilets are ok, seats or shelves would be nice.

But. It is unmanned and unsupervised - it was quiet when we were there but the lady pitched next to us said that the night before we got there people were partying until 2am.

The site's website is economical with the truth, here are some quotes:

'All our pitches are level well tendered grass pitches' - Our's wasn't, we really struggled to get level.

'all enjoying the amazing views - Our's didn't.

'plenty of free toilets, hot shower and wash facilities' - The site was only about a quarter full when we were there but there is no way there will be enough if the site is full.

The photograph on the website of the lush green caravan site with two hills in the background doesn't bear any resemblance to any view we could see. Type 51. 17575, -4. 16602 into Google Streetview, this will take you to the site entrance, see if you can spot the hills.

The water pressure at the site taps is a joke.

When you check in you get a sheet of rules/terms. This says that the site doesn't guarantee water pressure or quality, also doesn't guarantee uninterrupted electrical supply. The real shocker is the statement that 'you are responsible for the first £5000 of any claim made against Bay View Farmers for whatever reason'. These terms seem to be written to prevent anyone from getting any redress/refunds for the site's admitted shortcomings.

There is a pub within walking distance, we didn't use it but it seemed popular.

Although it is nothing to do with the site, walking down to Woolacombe would be very dangerous with fast traffic and no footpaths on the road.

The Tarka Trail ran adjacent to the site into Ilfracombe.

In summary - the site was cheap but still not worth the money. Would we go there again? No way José!

Just back from a week at Bay View Farmers. The site is basic but good value for the money - £16. 00 per night for 2 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs.

Located 5mins drive from Woolacombe, 10mins Ilfracombe & Tesco. Site is rather exposed on top of a hill - great views if weather is OK.

Shower block is one of the best we've come across - 5 individual bathrooms with lovely hot (free) shower, basin and loo, cleaned regularly. Code required for entry obtained when you check-in at Europa down the road.

If you're looking for a base for a week this is ideal. Beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde are fantastic. I'm sure we'll visit the area again.

The site is situated at the top of Woolacombe over looking Ilfracombe Bay and the south coast line of Wales (on a clear day!) Because it is at the top you are open to the elements and low cloud base line.

It is a small site which is split into two small fields one for C&CC members and those who are not. There are electric hook-ups on both fields and slow running standby water tapes in each field.

The shower block is clean and well equipped with 6 x shower rooms each containing enclosed shower, sink, toilet, mirror and heater. Plenty of hot water, showers are of the push button 10 second push again variety but with all the hot water you can use and they are free. Entry to this block is by key code which you obtain on checking in(c5679x when we stayed).

Outside the block is an open air (no shelter) sink and drainer for washing up (only the one) and chemical loo disposal point.

This site is unmanned and is managed by the Europa site 1 miles down the hill, you telephone the number on a hut to book in and get your allotted pitch. They are on call and do visit the site on request if there is a problem.

All in all a budget site which is reasonably priced, clean but basic facilities. Beautiful location on a clear and sunny day. Short drive to surrounding beaches and bays.

Bookings are now taken at the Europa campsite down the road and it is more expensive than advertised because of this, which came as a bit of a surprise.

In our opinion, it was not good value for money, compared to other Devon campsites. A short walk up the road to the bus stop will take you either down into Woolacombe or to Ilfracombe the other way.

The last bus is about 6pm (ish). The grass was a bit long when we were there and the toilets and showers are shared facilities in a barn.

The water boiler is on the outside of the barn and so it takes a while to feed through. We found that if we kept pressing the hot taps in the basins, then the hot water came through quicker for the shower.

It seemed such a waste of water. The facilities were clean and there was hot water for washing up on the outside of the barn.

We walked down the cycle trail but roads leading off were private.

 A Great Campsite.

Situated at the top of the hill above Woolacombe, you are in a great location for exploring the local beaches but far enough outside that there is peace and quiet.

The views across to Wales are fantastic (when the weather is clear!). The downside to our stay was that there was barely a break in the rain. The site dries out very quickly when given a chance. When it is too muddy to drive your car to your pitch there is plenty of space to park off pitch.

It is a level site with good facilities. The toilets and showers were very clean despite the mud all over the site. There were 5 shower rooms, each with a shower, sink, toilet and a very welcome heater! The water was always hot when I used them.

There was one outdoor sink for washing up. As others have stated this is uncovered but I have stayed at many more expensive sites (we paid £10 per night during August) that do not have one.

I never had any trouble finding the staff - who were very helpful (they towed us on and off our pitch).

My only disappointment was that I'd booked a Camping and Caravan Club Certified location as they are usually very small, quiet sites but this gets around the CCC rules by having a non-member's field which was quite noisy during our stay.

All in all a very useful find for when we're back in the area.

This could be an excellent campsite but has a very strange set up. No-one seem to man the site and it is a very much free for all. Field 1 for caravan and camping club members, field 2 non members! Far too many units are packed in. We paid for electric hook up and one wasn't available until someone moved! 44 units with 5 showers/toilets was not enough especially when most units had 4 or more occupants. Only 1 sink for washing up with no overhead cover. British weather and you get soaked! The grass hadn't been cut for weeks, so the groundsheet would lay flat.

If you want a central place to stay in Devon then this site is a very good location Woolacombe and Ilfracombe very accessible and plenty of beaches near by. If you do intend to stay here look out for Bayview Farmers Maize maise as this is the entrance you need to take and make sure you have the code keycode to get into the toilets!

We stayed for 5 nights. All unmarked grass pitches, fairly level. We booked in advance on arrival they did not tell us there was a code for shower & toilet block, luckily a fellow camper saved crossed legs outside door. Showers hit & miss was left covered in shampoo & shower gel on day 2. Site is at top of a hill. Walking to Woolacombe or Morthoe you had to walk partly on a busy road, a walk we would not like to do with children. Fairly priced basic site.

Came upon this site after being told by the site we were originally going to camp on was full. Stayed for 3 nights. Bargain at £5 per person per night.

Was nobody around when we arrived, but rang a number left in the office and somebody arrived quite quick to take payment. Was told to go and pitch while waiting.

Site separated into 2 fields, members and non members (caravan and camping club). Neither field was very big, but quite level and well maintained. We were in field 2 (non members) which had a limited amount of elec pitches and 1 coldwater tap.

Shower/toilet block looked quite new. Very clean and tidy with separate loo in each shower cubicle and lovely hot water. Was only 1 sink for washing pots which was outside so open to the elements. Chemical toilet disposal area too.

No other facilities on site but could use pool/sauna etc of Europa park down the road for free.

Was quite a walk, (sometimes dangerous) down to Woolacombe. No paths most of the way. Took about 40-50 mins. All downhill. 5 min drive in the car.

Nice pub just across the road, and walking track behind the field which I believe took you all the way to Ilfracombe.

All in all, enjoyed our stay and would definitely camp there again.

Stayed for 3 nights and never saw anyone other than a few other campers.

We had paid before we arrived, but could not find the place.

No instructions given about how to find them. We eventually ended up at Europa Holiday Park and it turned out they are connected.

We booked in there and were then sent a mile or so up the road.

Toilets had a code on them which we were not given and no-one came to see if everything was OK for the whole of our stay.

Any info we needed was given by other campers.

Very strange set up but lovely location.

This was a quiet time before main holiday season so it was OK.

Would not like to be there when main season starts and there is no supervision!

Toilets, showers and field lovely, nice walk behind campsite, but you have to find these things out for yourself!

Pub across road!
