Beautiful small campsite; new, well designed and maintained. Split into thirds to accommodate caravans / tourers, tent field and wooden 'pods' for those that want easy camping.
Site nicely divided with hedges for added privacy, especially the separate hedged off camping areas that are ideal if you have a small group with several tents that can all camp together.
Family owned and run, very friendly and helpful - couldn't ask for more.
Previous reviews have mentioned single shower and two toilets as possible problem if busy, but relative to the size of the site this shouldn't be a problem - it certainly wasn't when we were there. The toilet / shower block is well designed and maintained, and also includes washing up facilities.
No fires, but BBQs are fine and they provide slabs to put them on.
Pigs, chickens and mini shetland ponies give this place an added bonus to amuse the kids / wife.
Quiet at night, great location for exploring both the Tamar valley and Dartmoor. Close to Tavistock for supplies, though no shops within walking distance. One pub about a mile away, but generally this is not a campsite for having everything included, it's one that has the basics to high standard and is in a nice quiet location.
Nice to find a site that doesn't greet you with a long list of rules telling you what you can't do - we would run a mile from these places.
Highly recommended - we certainly hope they do well and would come back again.

The Old Rectory is situated a couple of miles outside of Tavistock which makes it a great location for visiting the local area. The site has a combination of individual, very spacious hedged bays and a small general camping area. The hedged bays make for very private camping and ensure that even at busy times you never feel overcrowded.
We stayed for four nights the first week in June, the site was very quiet given it was a peak week. The site has only been open a year and I suspect that it will get busier as the season goes on. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
On arrival we were given a choice of pitch and we opted for one of the hedged bays. The facilities were spotless, but if I had to offer a couple of criticisms they are that there is only one shower and two toilets for the whole site and at busy times I can forsee long queues. Although this wasn't the case for our visit.
Also the proximity to the main road meant that road traffic noise can be a little bit intrusive at times, however, you get used to it. I would recommend this site and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when visiting Tavistock.

Tucked away in an area which harbours more than its fair share of commercial static caravan parks this is a lovely campsite in a great location. We took advantage of one of the camping pods which was warm and dry and I would highly recommend this option for a slightly lower maintenance break than pitching the canvas in the often inclement english weather, or for those who perhaps normally camp and fancy a touch of luxury! The owners were welcoming and helpful (including helpful emails on booking). Two pigs and two ponies provided daily entertainment and it would be great for families and small groups alike.
There is a pub within walking distance and numerous things to do including the infamous woodland riders tracks! We sourced local lamb from a great farmers shop and sampled cider at a nearby cider press.
The shower and toilet bock were clean and hot water plentiful, the only downside would be there is only one shower which in the height of the summer may result in queues.
A washing machine and tumble drier also proved useful on a particularly wet day!
Whilst I may not be permitted the luxury of a pod again we would definitely visit again with the trusty tent to spend a little more time exploring the dramatic Dartmoor scenery.
