We really enjoyed our week's stay on this campsite. We found the owners to be warm and welcoming and the site itself was perfect for our needs.
We especially liked the quiet, peaceful location. Just off the beaten track but still close enough to local towns, the autoroute and many, many lovely places to visit. The area is beautiful, not at all touristy and well worth exploring.
The facilities on site are great. So nice to find toilets in France with paper and soap! Having bread delivered to our pitch felt like a real luxury. As tent campers, having a fridge to use was a blessing. It saved so much hassle with ice packs although we were able to refreeze these before we left. The little shop was great for an ice cream in the heat. The only thing missing was wifi although the owner very kindly allowed my husband to use her wifi at home on one occasion.
Unforgettable evening walks around the site, down to the lake to see the sheep and the coypu, along the river to the chickens, goats and pigs and back through the shade of the trees. At night I lay awake listening to the owls, frogs and crickets and loved every minute.
This has to be our favourite campsite in France and I know that we will return in the future.

We loved our 9 night stay here.
It is a good drive to get to this small, intimate peaceful site but it was worth the hours behind the wheel. Neat site with nice flowers.
As mentioned by other reviewers the owners are available, helpful and trusting. To have some food /treats available on trust is such a nice gesture. Walking leaflets helpful. Nice not to have rules everywhere on notices.
Had great fun on the lake, up and down, canoeing in the morning sun, badminton and table tennis great too.
Very happy with loos/showers. Pitch good size.
Visited many lakes and enjoyed swimming with the dog. Really enjoyed races at Pompadour, 6 euro for a fantastic day in quite the most beautiful setting.
We miss the star strewn sky and the frog/bird chorus.
We are in our fifties but were like children again! If you love being close to nature this site is perfect.
One suggestion is to bring tick removers if you come with your dog- they are annoying but with the right equipment easily dealt with.
Had pleasure of meeting Neil and Fay and lovely children! Hi to you both !It was so nice seeing the boys having fun on the lake and cycling around in safety.
Thank you for a lovely break Sharon and Steve- we hope to return! Walter (dog) loved it !

Wow. What a lovely find. A warm welcome from the owner Sharon. After a long journey it was lovely to get set up, have a shower in a proper shower ( no push button to keep pressing), and sit outside the awning with an ice cold beer. Our children (11, 9 & 4) were amazed at the site. A lake with a couple of boats free to use, they could ride there bike through most of the 11 acres of woodland, explore the Fairy garden, play in the playground, play bowls, badminton. They made friends with the owners son Harvey and played in his amazing tree house. We didn't see our children for most of our time on the site. You can order your bread, crossiants the evening before and then the following morning Sharon delivers them to your unit in a little basket. There are several swimming a lakes nearby, we can recommend Seliac, Tregniac and definitely Vigieous. Lovely sandy beaches, diving boards and life guards. The town of Brivie is well worth a visit as is the local town of Uzerche. Be aware that as this is not on the tourist trail, shops, cafe's do shut for the afternoon. There are great cycle trails nearby and lovely walks to do. The scenery is amazing.
The lake on the site has loads of wild life to look at, dragon flies, some very noisy frogs ( a real life frog chorus to be woken up to) and the infamous Ragadan. We will be back. The children have already asked if we can go to Harvey's place.
Thank you Sharon, Steve and Harvey for you warm hearted, hard work and friendliness you gave during our stay. You should be very proud of your site, it is a prefect peaceful get away. Thank you again, Fay, Neil and kids.

Looking forward to our third visit to Moulin de la Geneste.
2011 We were using this site as a stop off, 2 nights, on the way down to the Ardeche. Stayed 4 nights drove to Ardeche, hated campsite so turned round and came back to Geneste for the remainder of our holiday. Sharon and Steve were very helpful. Our Daughter loved the site learning to fish, caught 30! (small ones)
2012 we stayed for the full holiday, fish not biting as much but daughter learned to row a boat on the pool. Camp site improved over the winter and Sharon and Steve achieved 3 star rating Well Deserved!
2013 Looking forward to the holiday and trying out new tent in a beautiful and tranquil site.
As you can see from previous entries this site is worth a visit, but be prepared to relax and enjoy.

We stayed at this campsite in June 2013. We were meet by Sharron the owner who told us we had the whole camp site to ourselves well for one day anyway. This is a very quiet site which suited us and all the facilities are kept very clean. Sharron and her husband are at hand if you need anything and they work very hard to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. The only problem we had was with ants these where dealt with ant spray from the local Super u.

This is by far the most relaxed and special campsite we've ever stayed at. Facilities are perfect, toilets cleaned regularly and wonderful showers that use taps not daft press the button for 10s of dribble!
This area is fantastic for cycling, we usually hit the Alps or the Pyrenees but there's more than enough hills around here with lovely villages dotted around for interest. Plus, the locals are probably the most friendly and accommodating we've come across in France, this is one area we'd certainly consider moving too.
The owners Steve and Sharron couldn't be more helpful and having your bread order waiting for you on your pitch of a morning was the icing on the cake.
So, if you want to camp in a quiet and tranquil place with small lake and nature reserve to yourself, no noisy playgrounds etc this is the place to be.
Wonderful, we shall return.
Wi fi in reception would be fantastic and Sharron mentioned this was on the cards.
Andy and Lin. Pitch 19. Last week of August.

Meant to stay here 7 nights but so good we stayed 10!
Best site we've stayed on.
Everything positive you read about this site is true.
It has large, shady pitches nestled in mature trees and clean, child friendly facilities. Though it only has 25 pitches the actual site itself is big, encompassing hillside, woodland, lake for fishing and rowing (or swimming), river perfect for paddling, playground, fairy garden and countless spots where you can sit on cleverly placed benches and enjoy your surroundings. We fed our leftovers to the pigs each evening and watched chicks hatch out of their shells.
We took our 2 little boys and they couldn't have enjoyed themselves more. The children on the site all played together well and everyone was really friendly.
I could go on about the helpful and caring owners and the beautiful nearby town Uzerche which is well worth a visit but other reviewers have pretty much covered it all.
Go and see for yourself!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Facilities were excellent. Large communal fridge, washing machine and you could even freeze your ice packs in the shop freezer. Loads of space for children to play and they loved the animals and wildlife (even when the goat ate our breakfast!).
The lake was a particularly nice feature with a rowing boat available to borrow, a badminton court, boules pit and well equipped playgrounds.
Lovely large pitches, lots of trees and wonderful starry skies.
The owners were especially helpful and friendly. We couldn't ask for more.
We had some fabulous days out: horse races at Pompadour, the spectacular caves at Padirac, several bathing lakes, the impressive towns of Rocamadour and Beaulieu and the Prehistoric park. Lots going on locally too, theatrical evenings in Uzerche, farmers markets and even a firework display in the local village on our last night!

This is a very special site run by 2 very special people who love what they are doing. Very friendly welcome and attentive service. The limited stock in shop is there for you to help yourself and then leave a note on the counter for it to be added to your bill, as is the use of the washing machine. This air of trust adds to your holiday delight (I hope it isn't abused). As already mentioned, bread is delivered silently to your pitch in a wonderful little box cover in a teatowel.
Mainly Dutch and British. Pitches are a good size with plenty of shade. There are 2 lanes of pitches running at right angels to each other from the office and separated by a wooded area. Perhaps it was a coincidence, but all the English were in one lane.
The whole site is full of unexpected joys as you stroll around the lake, through the woods, along the shallow, clear river, past the farm animals etc, etc etc. We did not have any young children with us but this would be heaven for children to explore and make new friends. This would make a childhood holiday to remember. Happy children equal very happy parents.
The area is very beautiful with deep wooded valleys and very quiet roads. There are some wonderful hidden gems of ancient villages to wander around and lakes to swim in.
This site ensures you relax in it's tranquil surroundings; the longer you stay, the more relaxed you become.
I hesitate to add any negative comments after enjoying such a wonderful time but maybe this will be improved soon. The chemical disposal is the most user unfriendly we have ever used! Watch out for the splash back! Wifi would also be useful.
If you are towing a caravan, the last right turn is impossible as it is a hair pin turn, so continue into the village and turn 2nd left signed for the petrol and turn around in the car park.

Well, what can I say that already hasn't been written. This was our first camping experience in France and was not disappointed. The campsite itself is absolutely lovely, very green, lots of trees and very quiet. We were met on arrival by Sharron and Steve who offered us a choice of 2-3 pitches. Our pitch easily fit our large tent (7m x 3m), trailer and car. After an 18 hour journey the cold beer and bottle of red they kept stock in their reception was really appreciated. The daily delivery of fresh bread to our tent every morning was a lovely touch. Our 2 boys (age 11 and 13) really enjoyed fishing on the lake and caught a trout for tea one night as well as quite a few tench. The toilets and showers were always kept clean and plenty of hot water. The large fridge in washing up area came in handy too after buying more than you should! There is a BBQ area overlooking lake with large parasol and picnic bench that a few of us used together and made a night of it. Its in a very rural area and the nearest large town Uzerche is very pretty and well worth a visit. We did most of our shopping here at SuperU. We visited a couple of the nearby Lakes but the one at Treignac was our preference with good beach and pontoon to swim out to, also with cafe for snacks etc. We drove down to Dordogne one day which is about one and half hours so not too far. Also went to Rocamadour one day which is well worth a visit, all buildings are built into the side of mountain. All in all, we had a wonderful holiday and would definitely like to return. Steve, Sharron and Harvey were wonderful hosts and have done so much to improve the site with plans to do so much more. They deserve the 3 stars they have just received confirmation of.
