Other reviewers have stated how reluctant they were to comment as they did not want the site to become too popular. We agree wholeheartedly but recognise that it would be selfish if we did not share just how much we loved the quietness, extensive and beautiful natural grounds, sensible sized emplacements and well found facilities. Add to that the ever helpful owners particularly Sharon who spent quite some time preparing maps and identifying local walks that we could enjoy. We so enjoyed the site and local area that we spent our whole holiday there rather than the week we had originally planned.
We enjoy walking and found many local towns with signposted walks or cheap booklets of walks available from the Tourist Office. One needed some route guidance as footpaths are not marked as they are in the UK!
Although the Camping Moulin de la Geneste website includes some local towns it does not mention Ségur-le-Château (a 40 minute gentle drive away) which is a must. It is a beautiful unspoiled mediaeval town complete with river and 4 well signposted walks ranging from about 3 to 14 km. Furthermore, there is a good restaurant with a terrace overlooking the river where you can enjoy a post-walk lunch or dinner.
We may not have had any children with us but we know that our grandchildren would have loved it - there was so much for children to do and most parents (prepared to let their children out of their sight) could expect their children to amuse themselves all day!

The welcome - Steve, Sharron and their little boy Harvey greeted us as we arrived.
The pitches are private and of ample size to accommodate a large tent, the car and more space to dine al fresco.
Facilities - Showers, clean and airy.
BBQ area overlooking the small lake - beautiful, they even have a large canvass canopy over a large bench. With fairy lights to add to the ambience.
Bread can be ordered from the site office, and will be delivered to your tent door. Ours arrived in a basket wrapped up in a cloth (very special touch).
Site Grounds - Extensive grounds with a magical away from it all feel
Steve is a master carpenter, his handy work is all over the site. I will not spoil it for you so look at their gallery.
Location to amenities: Uzerche is a short car ride away. Nice place well worth a visit.
We have been visiting France for many years, and this is one of the nicest sites we have ever stayed on. Not a whiff of commercialism. Nature lovers will love it. Eden.
Would recommend this to any like minded camper wanting an away from it all experience.
Definitely need a SATNAV or a map as it is a little off the beaten track

My partner and I stayed here last year and had a lovely time. The site is beautiful - it is mainly wooded with a lake and stream in the grounds, and lots of paths through the woods to explore. It is a great place to relax and enjoy nature at its best.
There is a badminton net and a ping pong table on the site, which we made full use of! There is also a children's play area.
The facilities are good, with the washing up area overlooking the lake which is nice!
The owners, Sharon and Steve, were very welcoming and helpful and we are hoping to return soon.

Intending to try out my recently acquired Romahome, I chose a region of France at random. Having chosen a region I then clicked on the first site (via this website (also randomly)). The site ticked all the boxes I had in mind. Dogs allowed, quiet, fishing and all facilities. I Arrived (after first e-mailing Sharon to be sure of a pitch) and found a little sylvian paradise. They're so laid back and yet very hard working. However. I think a chap and his dog may have made a better choice of transport. You must consider getting out and about. Families with young, adventurous children are on a winner here.
I will definitely consider returning but with a different unit.

Used this site for a two night stopover on the way south. Selected after reading other reviews on this website. We were not disappointed.
Steve and Sharron will welcome you to their site and do all they can to assist during your stay. A lovely feeling of relaxation and trust exists here with so many good things going for this site. Yes, the owners still want to do many things to continually develop what they have, and what they have is a little special. Tranquillity and that 'away from it all' sensation abounds here and you may be tempted to extend your stay when you get here. You wouldn't be the first to do that!
Make sure you take good directions and enjoy this site like we did. Best wishes for the future to Steve and Sharron. Layla sends her regards too!

Have just returned from a great week at this site.
As other reviewer mentioned, I almost don't want to say how good it is for fear that it will become so popular that you cannot get in but the owners Sharon, Steve & Harvey deserve all the success for the wonderful site they have created.
The setting is magical. In the hills above Uzerche and nestled in a forest. The site is well laid out with a range of pitches. We stayed on 22 in a large 9 man tent but there was plenty of space for our trailer/cooking area and large family table. The site was quiet so we parked our car on the pitch opposite but could have got this on the pitch at a squeeze.
The site has a fishing lake/BBQ area (overlooking lake), fairy garden and multiple play areas including badminton/ping pong/basket ball together with acres of woodland to explore.
We have 4 children under 9 and they were never bored on site.
Abundant hot water in clean unisex toilet block.
4 showers/4 toilets as well as chemical toilet disposal point. Site has a washing machine and large wash up area. These areas are due to be refurbished next year but they are perfectly adequate and spotless.
Sharon & Steve have created a very relaxed site and this extends to the reception area with a few basics- milk/ice creams & cold drinks. The area is not manned so you write down anything you have and pay for it as and when.
Bread & croissant etc are delivered in wicker baskets to your tents if ordered the night prior (July & August).
Had a good days fishing on the lake. This is no specimen hunters dream but I caught about 30 fish to 1lb +. On light tackle it was great fun. (suggest fishing hard to bottom to avoid numerous small fish near surface)
Locally Uzerche is the local town and very pretty. Had a good day at the lake in Seilac and there is a great open air pool in Uzerche (speedos required as I found to my cost and my family's great ammusement-had to borrow a pair that did not really fit my XXL frame).
3 supermarkets within 10 minutes of the site and plenty of restaurants/cafes. Local coffee shop has WIFI.
This is a really quiet and peaceful site with a good mix of French, Dutch and English campers. At night the peace is only broken by the calls of the owls in the tree above you.
We are looking forward to returning to Moulin de la Geneste next year.

We told sharon that we would put comments on this site but we don't want everyone to discover it, being selfish. What a find - on the edge of a national park which we drove through on our way to the site, lots of hills and bends but great views. We picked our pitch as that's what the sign told us to do if there wasn't anyone about, set up tent and were welcomed by sharon, having guessed who we were (we pre-booked)
Breads were pre-ordered and delivered to your tent in a basket each morning. (the biggest and best we tasted in France this year)the family couldn't do enough and we just stayed on the site and relaxed, a little, badminton, and little boules and lovely surroundings. Private lake, only 25 pitches so very friendly, toilets and hot showers adequate but very clean, shop with emergencies if needed, shared fridge and even washing machine if needed. We are going back but for longer next time. This is the place to de-stress. Outstanding value for money too.

WOW! We visited the site as a stop off on our way down to the south of France and loved it so much we booked an extra stop off on our way back up! The site is set in quiet grounds with trees and shrubs making you feel out in the country, however there are shops in both directions only a few minutes drive. Sharron was the perfect owner choosing a pitch that was ideal for us, organising bread and croissants (The Pain au Chocolat is awesome!, sorting us out when we arrived after driving through the night as well as suggesting places to visit with our children (The swimming lake at Seilhac is great for a beach day). The toilet block was always clean and well stocked with toilet paper. There were woodland walks with a beautiful fishing lake and a river with a mini waterfall, also a play area for children with a football pitch, mini toddler play area and a basketball hoop and table tennis! Our 2 children 9 & 13 loved the atmosphere especially at night when it was pitch black and we could see ALL the stars and listen to the owls talking to each other.
We had such a relaxing time and were made to feel so welcome, if you go anywhere near this site you MUST visit! We'll be back next year!

What a find! Can't quite remember how we stumbled across this place online, but glad we did. It's a beautiful site in a lovely area, close to the pretty town of Uzerche. It's only a few minutes off the A20 so handy for a stop en route, though worth staying longer. The new owners are making a lovely job of improving the site, with lots of outdoor play facilities (badminton/volleyball, table tennis, a small football goal), much of it in shady spots). There are generously sized pitches for all types of caravans, campers and tents, with the usual facilities including a clean & spacious toilet/shower block, washing up stations, free communal fridge, communal barbeque, and useful items in the reception shop. Best of all was the bread/patisserie delivery to our tent early in the morning.
We booked the bell tent already pitched on site, with beds made, pretty lights lit inside, and fully equipped cooking station a few yards away. Brilliant.
Book this place while it is still a hidden gem (did I mention the site has its own woods, stream, lake and waterfall?)

Lovely peaceful site in very nice surroundings. Clean Toilet block with free hot water. Sharron, Steve and Harvey (there 5 yr old son) were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. They had only just taken over the site earlier on in the year but we were told by a Dutch couple next door, that they had already improved the site tremendously. Everyday Sharron took orders for Bread croissants etc and the next day they would be delivered to you in a basket fresh from the local boulangerie, what a nice touch. Plenty of nice places to visit too, Uzerche being the best in our opinion and only about 5 miles away. Three super markets only a few minutes drive away one selling fuel.Nice childs play area on site, also table tennis boules and a football net. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone wanting to visit limosin Ronnie and Sandra
