This site is ideal for Bordeaux. With sandy pitches, clean facilities and all looks very smart. The staff were very helpful. You may need a long lead for electric.

The pool was good but was cold due to it being early May. Not much for the kids to do there was a swing or feeding the ducks. But you will need earplugs as the frogs in the ponds were very very noisy.

The restaurant looked nice, not cheap, we didn't eat in it.

Easy bike ride to tram station or a good walk.

37 Euros for 2 nights (two adults two children)

We stayed at this campsite during Bordeaux’s ‘Festival Du Vin’. This was the only campsite in Bordeaux that we could find. We paid approximately 17 euros per night.

The campsite was easy to get to. Reception spoke limited English, but we had pre-booked so after showing our confirmation it was easy to go from there. The campsite looks very new, and done in a modern style.

The pitches were a good size, with ample room for our 4 berth tent and our hatchback. The screening was obviously newly planted and privacy was limited because of this.

The sanitary blocks were well organised, toilets at one end and showers/sinks and washing up facilities at the other. Cubicles with sinks had a hair dryer – what a luxury! The showers were push button, and temperature could be varied. Some showers worked well, others dribbled!

There was an on-site restaurant and bar, although we didn’t visit it.

Two bits of advice – take mosquito repellent and ear plugs! This campsite is based around a series of man made ponds. They have been poorly done, and the ponds were full of stagnant water and green slimy weed. The problem was the frogs! There were so many of them, and they were SO LOUD! The croaking went on throughout the night, so earplugs are a must. We were both bitten by mosquitos here too, so take precautions.

The campsite was on a bus route, which took you to a tram stop. We didn’t use this, as bus timetables were not given and we weren’t sure how frequent they would be. We decided to take the park and ride. When following the directions to the campsite, there are directions to P&R. We followed these signs, and parked for 3 euros for the day. This included a single tram ticket each, which cost 1 euro 40 cents! The car park closed at 2am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and the last tram from Bordeaux to the P&R was at 1am.

Bordeaux was a beautiful city, and I highly recommend you go during wine festival. Stay for the light show and fireworks. Absolutely amazing.
