Just returned from a 4 night stay at this beautiful site with magnificent views and fantastic walks. The weekend was very busy - it was Bank Holiday and perhaps there was not enough facilities for the number of people that were there, but they were regularly checked, supplies replenished and bins emptied.
We had a fantastic time as everyone else appeared to have too. We particularly enjoyed the fire-pit that was provided, seeing the horses and pet lambs, and were lucky enough to see the ISS.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly especially the new campsite manager.
We look forward to returning. Thank you all.

This is the most expensive campsite we have stayed on and the most inadequate where the facilities are concerned.
One gents and two ladies loos, all very dirty and smelling of stale urine. There is no hot water in the ladies which I suspect has been a long running issue going by the notice on the heater. There are only two showers, also very grubby and smelly. As we only stayed one night we chose to go without.
The washing up area only has one sink for the whole site. The fridge and freezer for campers were a definite health hazard.
They charge £2/night for dogs but have no facilities. While the owners dog is allowed to roam free peeing and pooing all over the campsite.
There is a lot of development going on for new pitches but I think the priority needs to be the facilities.
When the owner came round in the evening and asked if we ok I felt I had to say something and he agreed with all I said but nobody came to mop or clean anywhere.

The site is set in a beautiful location with stunning views and great walks. The owner was friendly. However, we were disappointed with the cleanliness and facilities. One of the 2 ladies toilets was blocked when we arrived and wasn’t unblocked until the following afternoon. The bins in the cubicles were full to the brim. The farm dogs wandered freely and pooed on our pitch. It was still there hours later and we cleaned it up ourselves. The showers were adequate. The main rubbish bins were full and there no recycling facilities. There was an Elsan point but no water from the tap to rinse the toilet. Not great access to the hard standing pitches, even with a small 2 berth. A real shame as the site has great potential but on this trip, basic standards fell well short of expectations and requirements. We’ve camped extensively and never left a review before that wasn’t a positive one. We usually enjoy a site where you are left to your own devices, but there didn’t seem to be any behind the scenes management of the site when we stayed. Unfortunately, we won’t return.

Just returned from a nights stay and I must say what a relaxing time we had falling asleep to the sound of the babbling brook. A quiet site that accommodated us with 30 minutes notice. A clean and well tendered site with the opportunity to have an open fire. The scenery was beautiful. Mo the warden was so welcoming. We will be going back for a longer stay.

Excellent site with a lovely view. We stayed for 3 nights on the bank holiday weekend. The staff was very friendly and left us to it. There is a large modern shower cubicle unlike other sites you can have a peaceful shower without pressing the button. The location of the site is fantastic and the stream looks lovely. You are allowed to have campfire.
We had a fantastic and peaceful time. I would revisit the site if we are going to that part of lakes again.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of June. A lovely peaceful site with beautiful views. Ground nice and level although a bit stony under the grass so a little hard to get pegs in. Owners nice and friendly and basically leaves you to it but are nearby if you need them. Some good walking to be had as long as you don't mind walking through fields full of sheep and their droppings! But it is an area of working farms and the sheep stay out of your way! There are separate toilets for men and women and free, warm showers. They are in a steel shipping container but are lovely and clean. There are also facilities for washing up. We would recommend walking up the hill behind the site as the views are amazing, all the way to Heysham on one side and Workington on the other. You are allowed fires as long as they are off the ground. It is so quiet at night so perfect if you want a bit of peace. But for us regular campers, the best bit is that you are not expected to leave early on your day of departure, you can leave when you want so you can enjoy your last day in the area without having anybody on your back!

We spent a long weekend at Baystone Bank, which is nestled within a small valley near Millom. The campsite owner was friendly and accommodating as we had to be a little flexible in terms of how many nights we were staying and she was fine was this. The highlight of this campsite is the stream that runs through the middle - my children loved paddling in it and it was very relaxing listening to the tumbling water late in the evening. The toilet facilities and large shower cubicles were relatively basic but perfectly useable (and seemed to make a very comfortable home for a rather large moth!). A steel wheel was provided at our pitch for a campfire which added to the 'away from it all' experience at this small but beautiful campsite. We will definitely revisit.

What a fantastic find! My husband and I had a wonderful drive through the country, after finding this camp site at the (very) last minute following a tiring week; we were not disappointed. The owners were happy for us to arrive later on in the evening (9:20pm) which can sometimes be a problem.
Our expectations were exceeded with the friendliness and accommodating owner who kindly offered us a fire pit on our first visit and who will even take in pre-ordered shopping for you for your arrival. We were pleasantly surprised with the quiet and tranquillity of the area with the pitches well thought out. There were young families, couples and some from the older generation but all seemed content. A joy to lie on the grass listening to the babbling stream gazing at the hills surrounding the site with a glass of wine.
On the first morning we wanted to explore and asked directions to the nearest beach again the owner (unfortunately cannot recall her name!) was very helpful, especially when you consider that it is a working farm and so in all probability very busy; which is surprising when you notice how quiet and clean the site is without a hint of the typical 'farmyard smell'. The beach was a short 5 mile drive away along country winding roads the beach itself clean and wholesome with pubs and a town nearby.
The showers in the block are cleaned every morning and checked in the evening were very clean, water hot and little thoughtful touches like a sink with cloth and washing up liquid, also lamps to guide you in the dark. I was particularly happy with the mirrors in the ladies and the showers which are not always found in 'tent only' camp sites.
We enjoyed our stay so much that when we bought our new Tipi we stayed again ASAP. For £6/person/night it's worth every penny.
No complaints whatsoever just a shame that it closes for the winter as we would have liked to have spent New Years Eve there!

This has been our second visit here and again it was faultless. Clean, tidy and well maintained. Great little site with all that you need. Beautiful views by day, campfire at night and sleeping to the sound of the stream. Perfect! Fantastic place and we will be going again. Owners are really pleasant and nothing seems to much trouble. Really approachable when needed but if not, they leave you in peace.
