What a lovely site, we booked this last minute, we know the area but not the site. We were not disappointed it was peaceful. The trains pass about one a hour but not a problem. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and tidy. The downside is there is only one washing pot sink. But there was never a queue. There are no facilities for children but we like that. We have booked to go back the week before august bank holiday. The prices are really reasonable, even at bank holiday. The owner walked us to our pitch and helped with siting the caravan. A lovely couple. More than helpful

Suffice to say there's little new to add here, the almost universally positive feedback is well deserved.

We visited the site for 4 days having read the favourable reviews on this website; we weren't disappointed. On arrival we were met by the owners who were exceptionally friendly and made us feel immediately welcome. Having been shown to our pitch and set up we had no need to bother them again, they were available but discreet; presumably not wishing to intrude unless someone needed assistance.

The pitches are adequately sized - even with a porch awning - and not too uneven, despite the site being on a slight incline. Because of the small nature of the site all facilities are near all of the pitches and the site itself was wonderfully peaceful. There are no 'child friendly' facilities making this a terrific site for peace loving adults! The only 'minus' here being the 2 static sites on either side from where some noise emanated at the weekend, but we've certainly experienced much worse.

The toilet block was always spotlessly clean and unlike many other small sites did not 'close' for cleaning; something that I always find irritating! If you want to use the facilities during cleaning, the owner just waits until you're finished before resuming; excellent service.

Although there aren't any 'local' shops in the immediate area, there's a pub next door, the Martonian which is 2 minutes walk and the 'Co-op' is a short drive away. As is the '149' fish and chip shop; simply the best fish n chips I've had in years - don't miss this one!

Location very good then, peaceful as explained but a short drive to either Flamborough or Brid, and a pleasant 20 minute walk to The (Sewerby) Ship pub too. The locals in Flamborough we found very friendly also and the karaoke in The (Flamborough) Ship was fantastic on the Sunday; wonderfully amusing tone deaf locals giving it their all!

As for the immediate area, other reviews have accurately mirrored our experience. I'm reluctant to mention the oft quoted 'Malt Factory' as it simply wasn't an issue at all; no noise, smells or nuisance problems at all. The trains are almost as unobtrusive; very occasional 2 unit commuter units that simply sounded like a passing lorry.

All in all a terrific break and we'll certainly return!

Camped at this great little site for 5 nights. Spring bank holiday in our F. C

A friendly welcome on arrival at the site, and escorted to our pitch.

Found most pitches flat some hard standing, and

All had electric points, some including ours T. V aerial point.

The site has one small toilet block with pot wash, showers, hairdryer. And chemical waste round the back. They were kept spotlessly clean.

Although the site was full, we never had to wait.

The site as a whole was very well kept, and very quiet at night time.

Not much for kids on this site, but we knew this before we went.

A 15 minute walk to the coast line at Sewerby, where you can either walk into Bridlington approximately 45 mins or catch the land train. Failing that you can drive to Sewerby ample parking at £3 for the day, with a massive area of grass for kids to play games on.

The site does have a railway line running from the back, but it is not a problem, with just small trains running infrequently, did not bother us, it, s just like a large car going past. Opposite the site is a Malt factory, no noise from it and again nothing to bother you.

There is a static caravan site either side, but again did not bother us.

A nearby pub serves some nice cheap meals and is kid friendly and open most of the day.

If you like a nice clean quiet site, with some lovely walks then this ones for you.

I will visit this great site again.

Make sure you take a wide berth on entering the site with a large van as a massive tree narrows the opening.

Having visited the area for the last 6 years in a cottage and love it, we decided to give it a go and pitch our tent here at Poplars as it was very convenient for the area we knew so well. (and cheaper than the cottage).

The site is well kept, lovely and quiet. Yes, there is a railway line that runs right along the bottom of the site but in all honesty it didn't bother us and no lines ran through the night. The malt factory across the road makes no noise at all and can't really be viewed from the site so you wouldn't even know it was there if these reviews didn't mention it. There are also major static sites at either side of Poplars but we never encounter any noise whatsoever from them (don't know what it would be like at peak kiddie holiday season though).

The facilities are good but basic. The toilet/shower/washing up block is very near to all pitches and, being a small site, this is good. The men and women facilities are at separate sides of the block with the washing up facility in between. There are two showers in each which had excellent hot water and plenty of room in them, and 5 toilets/1 disabled. There is a hairdryer in the block too. We never had to wait for either, even considering there were around 21 used units on site.

The hot water in the washing up room was always hot unless someone was using the shower but did not bother us. No-one needs to completely fill the sink to wash a few pots do they?

As we have never paid over £15 per night for previous holidays in the tent, we felt for the area and the privacy of a small site the mid season price we paid was fair and we were prepared to pay it. (£17. 50 with 10% discount if over 5 nights are booked). We did notice not a lot of caravans had awnings up - didn't know if this was because of the weather, the size of their pitches (a little small if you were to have a car and awning up too) or because you have to pay extra. I am glad we were on the pitch we were though as it looked like we had slightly more room than other pitches (being the end one).

The owners were lovely people and made us feel welcome. There is a reception room to get information about the area if you wish and a shop next door at the other campsite for bread, milk daily newspaper etc. Oo and don't forget the pub next door with sometimes nightly entertainment.

All in all would definitely go back to this site. Probably wouldn't pay the high season prices just for a tent but would love to go again in mid/low season.

What a little gem of a site. Warm and friendly welcome from the owners.

Prices are very good £15 a night for a site in a seaside town with lots of places to visit, Bempton Cliffs up the road, Flamborough, Bridlington and Sewerby gardens with a land train which takes you into Bridlington.

Toilet Block is very clean with hot showers and a free hairdryer

Next door is a great pub Martonian with really good quality and value meals.

Lovely walks to sewerby, Danes Dyke and Bridlington.

We arrived Friday and did not take the car out till leaving on Sunday.

Definitely be going back. (Just hope we can get on) I think in the summer this site will be full most weekends.

Just stayed here for a few days on the last week of the season.

I found the entrance to the site quite concealed and would advise tourers to take a wide swing into the site.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, walking us done to the pitch and giving all the information on pot washing/showers etc.

The site has some hard standing but mainly grass pitches with EH.

As mentioned a train line runs close by but is not intrusive.

The shower/toilet block is clean and functional.

The pot washing has hot water issues, ie. Lack of it, as mentioned before. But we boiled our kettle and took this to the pot sink so no problem.

Pub is next door and offered entertainment for the Saturday evening.

Child friendly too, which is always good.

The site is not set up for children so would advise this if you come here wanting your kids to be entertained by play parks or something similar.

We enjoyed spending quality time with our 10 and 11 yr olds.

Great access to Bridlington along the cliff path or roadside for both walking and cycling.

Most enjoyable place to stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at this small, friendly site. Ideally situated for Bridlington and Filey, with Scarborough only around 17 miles north. The site has very easy access for tourers.

A railway line runs right past the site, and there is a malt processing plant opposite the site entrance. Neither was a problem to us at any time, and never heard any trains during the night.

For those who like their TV it's worth mentioning that terrestrial reception is excellent.

The toilet/shower facilities seem quite old, but we always found them perfectly clean and functional. Unfortunately the water supply in the pot washing facilities is wholly inadequate, and out of keeping with the way the owners obviously care for the site. A small investment in this area would make a big difference to the customer experience in my view.

The Martonion pub next door is worth a visit, as is the fish and chip shop in Sewerby. There is a short drive to a well stocked Co-op supermarket.

We will be returning to this site and I would happily recommend it to others.

We've been coming to this site on & off for the past 25 years! We've seen 3 different owners over the years and all have kept to the same standard of cleanliness on the site. It is, perhaps, a little fuller now than it used to be ? and no longer stays open all year round as in past times.

The shower block still contains the washing-up area and has the same amenities although been brought upto date with new sinks and toilets etc. Also there are now electric hook-ups for all units.

It also now has 2 static caravan parks - 1 on each side, and has on occasion been a little noisy.

Prices are for 2 occupying the pitch with a car. You pay extra for extra persons, dogs, porch awnings and even more for a full awning.

As there isn't a play area children do tend to play around the campsite with balls or on bikes. Sometimes to the detriment of someone's tent or caravan!

All in all if you're not child friendly or, like ours, they have grown up, then out of school holiday times would be quieter. We keep coming back because of the convenience to the surrounding areas, which we love. Also, unless a member of one of the 'touring clubs' all other local sites are for static caravans only.

We can highly recommend this site, it's only a small site and as such has only basic amenities, 2 showers each for male and female ditto the toilet facilities, but these are clean & well maintained with ample hot water and the owners are friendly and very helpful.

All pitches have electric hook up, there are also several hard standing pitches as available.

Taps for fresh water are dotted conveniently around the site, facilities are also available for disposing of chemical toilet waste etc, again clean and well maintained.

There is no kids play area on site, but during our stay we did get the feeling that the site is geared more to older, child free couple's ( though by no means exclusively) rather than those with kids.

The site has no shop but it doesn't really need one as there is a large caravan sales and accessories outlet less than 2 mins walk away.

Coupled to the fact that the site is well situated any-way, being only a 5 min drive to Bridlington, 10 mins to Flamborough and approx 15 mins to Filey.

The beach is only a short walk away, approx' 15 min, as is Sewerby hall & bird garden, ditto 'the Ship', a family & dog friendly pub that serves good beer and food at reasonable prices situated in Sewerby village itself. There's also a really good old style fish & chip shop in the village, which I can recommend

For grocery shopping there's a large ( co-operative) supermarket a 5 min drive away from the site, heading towards Bridlington

Another appealing thing about this site is the fact that there is a really good pub right next door, 'the Martonian', which serves good reasonably priced meals to eat in or take away. Although dogs are not permitted at 'the Martonian' the pub does have a kids play area

We ourselves didn't use it but the area seems to be well catered for by public transport, with frequent services to Bridlington, Filey etc running past the end of the road, again less than a 2 minute walk from the site.

We did however have 2 minor niggles, 1/ there's a railway line running past the bottom end of the site. 2/ there's a large malt factory across the road from the site but in truth these really did cause only the smallest amount of noise nuisance, hence my 9 out of 10 mark for site location

In short an excellent little site well worth a visit,we'll definitely be staying at the Poplars again next time we get down that way.

We have stayed here a few times and Bridlington too many times to remember. We cannot fault it, very nice small quiet site, helpful on site owners who keep the place spotless. There are separate male/female toilet facilities housing two showers in each with hairdryers. Also water and disposal facilities, a veg preparation area and sink.

The poplars is located ideally between Flamborough head and Bridlington, (about a mile and half to brid and about 3 miles to Flamborough) with lovely walks in Sewerby hall and gardens. We were lucky enough to watch quantam theatre stage their outdoor production of a midsummer nights dream, truly fantastic with the sea view as a backdrop!

There is a great pub next door to the poplars called the Martonian. Child friendly which serves lovely food, next door up you can use the facilities at the caravan park which has a club and swimming pool. (a torch is advised if you venture out at night). We walked to flamborough and got a bus back which was nice, also visited Danes dyke.

We were nice and cosy in our tent and had plenty of space with the option of E.H.U. Touring caravans seem popular. We love this area and never run out of things to do always discovering some new place. Will def return. Would recommend for couples/families.
