Lovely site, we had most of the field to ourselves (a party of 8 tents). Very friendly owner. Good use of freezer and fridge for £1 per stay, showers either 20p or £1 and change supplied by owner. Clean facilities. Extra eggs, bread, toothbrushes available but not actual on site shop as such. You can hire fire buckets and paving slab trivets for extra warmth. Only criticism is only 2 showers so I bet it could get busy, with a toddler though we were always up before the rush! We were also across the busy road, which wasn't ideal with a toddler. However, Would greatly recommend and consider going back again in the future.

What else can you say about this site other than awesome! We have lost count the number of times that we have visited Willow Garth and we are already booked to visit the site on a number of occasions this season.
The site owner is helpful, welcoming and very accommodating, we have phoned a number of times during busy times and she has done her best to 'squeeze' us in!
The field with no electric hook up is very well kept and the grass is always mowed. The field is never over crowed and the other campers are always happy go lucky and never had any issues! There are fire pits that you can hire on site and logs are available and cheap too!
The toilet block is kept clean, the loo roll is always stocked up and the showers are brilliant!
If you want a little walk there is a pub 5 mins up the road, however the landlord is very hit and miss, usually miss! The other nearest pub is 45 mins walk in the opposite direction! The food is ok but not worth the walk. If you need a shop the nearest is Malton! Take what you need with you! Eggs are available on site and are very good, free range and fresh!
I wanted to leave a negative review so this little gem of a site is kept all to ourselves but this would have been very unfair on the site owner and the wonderful site!
I would recommend a visit to anyone! Visit this site!

We stayed here for 3 nights, This is the best site we've been to so far, The camp owner is very welcoming and easy to get on with, All the seasonal caravans there have such a nice bunch of people in, Can't wait to go back, Perfect for the kids too, Our youngest loved the horses in the field next door, The toilets are immaculate shower room always spotless, Kirbymoorside is 6 miles away, that's worth a drive, Pickering the same 6 miles also, We also drove to Scarborough in 30 mins(ish)
It's a defo must this little site:)

What can I say! We have just returned from our Easter Bank Holiday stay at this site. We stayed in a tent as we are new to camping and wasn't sure we would like it. We were that impressed with the site, we have been and bought a caravan and are in the process of arranging a hard standing with the owner for a seasonal pitch.
The site is in a great location. 2 mins drive to Flamingo Land. 5 mins to Malton and 5 mins to pickering. We even jetted off to Filey for fish and chips along the seafront (approx 35 mins journey)
The showers and toilets are immaculate and were constantly cleaned throughout our stay. The site also has very good facilities, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge (reasonable prices)
We hired a fire basket and sat out on an evening which was very nice. We took our 2 dogs and they loved it. The other seasonal campers were very respectful of the site and very friendly.
Cannot wait to return with our caravan and looking forward to spending lots of weekends and bank holidays here.

Spent this season on this site and it's been great. Ideal location for either the east coast or country side. The site is kept immaculate regards the toilets and shower areas, the seasonal pitches are in the orchard area with areas for camping with emu adjacent and a further camping area across the road with plenty of room for the kids to play about. The owners are non stop from morning to night and nothing is too much trouble, you can get basic items from them at the house, one popular item is the fire pits available to hire, many visitors enjoyed evenings sat around them chatting and having a drink. We are looking forward to next season 1st march as we have rebooked our hard standing pitch for next season, treat yourselves and enjoy a chilled out week or weekend next year, ENJOY

Just had a very nice relaxing 3days at Willow Garth, on arrival was greeted very nicely by the owner and was shown all the facilities, and where we could park. We had a very nice pitch which caught the sun which is what I liked.
The toilets and shower block were the cleanest I have ever come across on a camp site, you could not fault them, the wet room was a good space one and nice hot water.
Didn't go to local pub as went once before and was not impressed,
The only thing that I found with the site it was on a very buisy road, noise didn't bother me but think the cars didn't ease off for the 40 zone.
In the summer months I think this would be a very nice little friendly site, and I plan to return in March and hopefully spend another few relaxing days.
Site owners very friendly and never seemed to stop working.

Just got back from a 5 night stay at this lovely little site with friends of ours.
We were in the orchard part of the site but trees are spaced out enough so you are not parked underneath them.
It was very quiet as children had gone back to school and most of the other caravans on site were seasonal pitches with no one in them.
The facilities perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean although we didn't use the showers as we used our own in the van.
An ideal location from which to explore the North Yorkshire moors, Whitby, Pickering, etc. We were very close to Flamingo Land but didn't go there ourselves. Eden Camp is also close by which we did go to. That is well worth a visit and although the leaflet said to allow 3-4hrs, you really need most of the day there in order to take in all that the site has to offer. So much information. An amazing place.
We didn't eat out at the local pub given that some of the previous reviews were a bit negative but we did go to the Black Bull which is a 10minute drive towards Pickering one evening and would recommend this pub. Very friendly staff and food was very nice. We stayed on site for our other evening meals sitting around the lovely firepits that are available to hire. Pleasant evenings had around the campfire with a drink and the weather was very kind to us!
The owner was a lovely lady and was very helpful and left us alone. We just called in each morning to buy our supply of wood for the evening.
I would think its not really a site for children as you have the road, the river and some overgrown ponds at the back of the site to consider. There are clear signs to help you but knowing children can be inquisitive, it may be too tempting for them.
We would definitely go to this site again should we go back to this part of Yorkshire. Lovely!

We visited Willow Garth this weekend as a result of the reviews and search facilities on this website! We needed to be in North Yorkshire and we really wanted a site where we could have a campfire and this fitted our criteria! All the reviews were really helpful and helped us choose this site.
It certainly met our expectations. The owners were really helpful; they responded promptly to my emails and were really helpful on site. There were lots of EHUs on site but there was also room for those who don't use EHUs, including us. We made the most of being able to have a campfire and booked a fire basket and logs which they delivered to our tent.
The toilets and washing up area were all clean and provided what you needed on a basic level but this is fine for us. If there was to be one slight improvement, it would be a faster supply of hot water for the sinks but this is certainly not a problem for us. The showers worked fine on the coin operated system which always means there are no big queues!
There was no playground but there were lots of children who all played well together. Ours are 2 and 5 plus a 6 year old camping with us and they always love making new friends when we're camping. They certainly did this at Willow Garth!
We were on the orchard part of the site where the facilities are, which we requested following the reviews given. The field over the road was fine for camping with no EHUs. We found that the road wasn't busy but the cars that did pass could be going quite fast. I would suggest that it would be fine to camp on that side of the road with older kids that have good road sense. Traffic noise was not a problem.
We didn't walk out from the site - we went to Scarborough for the day so got some supplies there and went to Malton for supplies on arrival. We tend to self cater on site rather than use pubs. We did have fish and chips in Pickering which is about a 10-15 minute drive.

This is a gem of a site! The owners are friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. They have fire pits to hire and logs to buy.
The site is alongside a country road, which as others have mentioned, does have quite a bit of traffic. But we were camped in the orchard as far away from the road as possible and never noticed the traffic. It was wonderful camping amongst the apple blossom.
The extra camping field is over the road and has no toilets, and its definitely not a road you'd want kids crossing on their own.
Toilets and showers were extremely clean.
No great walks straight out of the site, but its very close to the Moors and to loads of other North Yorkshire attractions.
We'll definitely be back.

Just returned from a perfect weekend here! I have passed this site many times before and it always looks busy.
I have to say the welcome we got from the owner was most lovely and the site first class, also the weather was perfect all weekend!
The only down side to this site would be the main road, part of the site lies over the road but we were in the main site where the house is, if you have children I would advise you ask for main site when booking as we crossed the road a few times to go to the river, where you cross the road is at the end of a 40mph limit so traffic can be going 60+, I was aware of the road as I use it to get from Hull to teesside quite often, as do many others it also links Malton and Kirkbymoorside so can get busy, along with the flamingo land traffic!
But all in all the site is great, I'm used to traffic so never bothers me, some great places nearby including flamingo land, north york moors, hutton le hole, castle howard and York to name a few plenty to do and a great base to explore from!
