Another really good week at Freshwater Beach.
Excellent location on the Jurassic Coast, good facilities, friendly staff, excellent toilet and shower blocks. Proper showers with no push button dribbles and controllable temperature! Spotlessly clean as well.
We really love to visit when the site is not so busy, should imagine that at the height of the season would be a different story though.
If full, access to your pitch would be extremely difficult without a mover as very tightly packed in. If you visit at the right times though, it is an excellent base.
Brilliant dog walking country, and, if you don't want to use your car it is not a problem. Two good pubs in Burton Bradstock within easy walking distance, both with very good food. Both pubs different in character though both good in their own ways. Food on site reasonable and well priced and bar prices acceptable. We didn't sample any of the entertainment so cannot comment on that.
On site shop has all that you need but Morrisons in Bridport a five minute drive, as is West Bay with some excellent fish and chip stalls!
Good beach fishing from their own beach, dog fish every cast.
In summing up, we really enjoy it here and will definitely return though will avoid busy times.
Only downside, in my opinion, is the lack of chemical waste points.

We stayed at Freshwater Beach in our touring caravan during the Whit half term which meant we travelled down on 28th May 2016, having set off very early we arrived at the site at 11. 30 hours and were immediately allowed onto our pitch with clear instructions of how to locate the caravan and awning, reception was friendly and informative and we had just started setting up when we were greeted by a member of the team checking who we were and we knew where to pitch.
Pitches are very roomy, plenty of space for caravan, full awning and car with room to spare, water points are very handy and this was the first time in a long time that the electricity did not trip out.
The site was extremely busy over the bank holiday weekend with a variety of tents, touring caravans and motorhomes, although that thinned out as the week went by. The location is beautiful with clear views across the nearby sports fields out to sea. Freshwater is nestled between two hills that were born out of the Jurassic era and offer exceptional walks which although a little strenuous are well worth the effort.
The site is well set out with two outdoor pools, three indoor pools with sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi for over 16s. The roof top terrace again is well located and offers drinks and food although we stuck to the drink option. Prices are a little inflated as you would expect but nothing astronomical, 3-50 for lager, 1. 80 for a small slush was a little exuberant.
There is nightly entertainment and the entertainment team work very hard to ensure that everyone is enjoying ourselves, we saw Jimmy Talmley, a ventriloquist who was hilarious, there is always something going on.
I am a little fastidious when it comes to toilets and showers and I have to say without doubt that this is one of the cleanest facilities I have ever used, on every visit there were staff cleaning and ensuring everything was in tip top condition, the toilets, showers and dish washing facilities were second to none and the staff looking after them should be applauded. We waited briefly for a shower at the peak time over the bank holiday weekend but as the site quietened down there was no problem, water was really hot, no time limit and the cubicle has a toilet, shower and sink which is another first for me.
The beach is right on the doorstep that my two boys, 10 and 7, adored, the river running into the sea is another form of entertainment, the area is beautiful, picturesque and quiet, a 5 minute walk across the hills to West Bay (Broachchurch) is a must or the opposite direction to Burton Beach and the Hive Caf another worthy adventure.
We loved our week at Freshwater, I cannot recommend it highly enough, it caters for all ages but would suit families more, in my opinion, the on-site shop is well stocked and again affordable, a fantastic time was had by all, thank you Freshwater!

Just returned from a really relaxing break at Freshwater Beach. We had a great time there.
Very large site, but, at this time of year virtually empty! This led to us having a stunning view from the front window of our caravan. I should imagine this wouldn't be the case in high season.
Shop on site very good but stocks running down due to the time of year.
Very poor mobile reception and TV. Satellite dish a must.
Excellent dog walks, which our Jack Russell took full advantage of.
Shower blocks spotlessly clean and warm, good run times on showers as well.
We only ate on site once at the rolling stone bar, food was very good and good value for money, bar not over priced too.
Pubs in Burton Bradstock also welcoming and very good value for money.
I fished off the beach a couple of times and caught plenty each time.
Morrisons in Bridport 5 mins drive as is West Bay. Excellently located for Abbotsbury, Weymouth and Lyme Regis.
Our first visit but will definitely return but not in height of season.

Nice site a couple of miles from Bridport and easy access for towing.
Friendly staff on reception and was shown on a map where to pitch, would have been better if we were taken to the pitch as the site is massive.
Found the pitch which is flat and large and set up, water/waste and elsan all close by. TV signal good, mobile poor and 3g non existent, you can get 4G if you want to walk up onto the cliffs everytime you want to use the Internet.
We were pitched around the outer edge which is better as the rest of the site was crammed in like sardines, far too claustrophobic for my liking.
Large toilet / shower block kept immaculate, no recycling was asked to take it to the local supermarket where they have it.
Great pea gravel beach and coastal walks, good swimming pool, bowling alley with balcony bar, and good spar shop on site.
Didn't use the entertainment as not enough tables, the kids hogged them for their parents who would arrive later.
Good playpark and inflatable noah's arc £3 for 15 mins which the kids loved and the site is a very safe environment for the kids.
Site was very peaceful considering how busy it was but as we were right next to the dog walking field we were woken early each morning by barking dogs and the gate banging.
Not too keen on the 10 am departure time and you were handed a letter the day before you leave reminding you of the strict depart time.
Not a cheap site but worth it for it's location and it's priced per pitch for 6 people which is good value if camping with 6.

Good ol freshwater beach.
Been here 5 years running now. Always around the same time each year. Love the place.
Pitches are huge and level.
Plenty for the kids to do. Swimming, bowling, kids clubs, beach, river. Plenty to do for adults, walk over the golf course to westbay, along the cliffs to hive beach cafe.
Weymouth 12 miles in car, Lyme Regis 12 miles in car. Newquay 132 miles in car - did day trip to here for boardmasters. 2 hrs each way, amazing day.
The shop is like any other site shop, crammed with everything, but you do pay that little extra. 5 mins in the car though and you are in morrisons.
Food menu on the restaurant has been simplified, burgers and pizza and a few specials. Again not a problem if you drive, we hit takeaways in bridport. Chinese, Kebab House all top notch.
I even drove 32 mile round trip to dominoes pizza in Dorchester. Better quality, worked out cheaper.
Club in the evening is the standard cheese - no John Lee anymore though so I keep comparing it to when he was the entertainment.
Showers and toilets are mint at all times.
No doubt I'll be back there next year.

This site is way bigger than we expected but we found our pitch OK. You had to pitch in a specific way or you would be asked to move, since the instructions are designed for pitching a caravan, you have to use some judgement and guess work when pitching a trailer tent or folding camper (there was a pad that you must have your jockey wheel on)
Pitches are tiny and too crammed in so there is literally nowhere for the kids to play.
Roads where busy and there was no separation of pedestrian areas and traffic and no speed control so we did not feel safe letting the kids on their bikes.
Facilities on site where great, but some where to busy to be used. We where going to try to clubhouse but found people queuing outside 1 hour before opening just so they could get a seat and decided against it.
Food was good on site and priced reasonably.
Location is stunning, beach nice and pubs offsite within walking distance.
For us the site was just too big and pricey as we were not making use of the facilities. So we would not return again. However as already mentioned the location is stunning so we would return to the area

This is the consecutive third year we have been to Freshwater, and we have never holidayed anywhere consecutively before, which speaks volumes about what we think of it. The park itself is not perfect, but it meets our requirements as a family of three. Initially what we wanted was a clean park, well maintained with good entertainment, nearby to a nice beach; and Freshwater ticks all of these boxes. In addition, the views are exemplary, it has its own microclimate and the combination of polls is a real attraction. The cost of a well maintained caravan is also very reasonable.
Nonetheless, there are still some points that could improved upon. Firstly, the bar and food prices may reflect those found in the local area, but we live in the West Midlands where salaries are lower and prices are more affordable. Secondly, the absence of food before 12pm was disappointing, and we found it necessary to travel to Morrison's in Bridport to buy a good cooked breakfast at a reasonable price, this was particularly true of Saturday's when we 1) arrived early in the morning and had looked forward to the breakfasts that were available in 2014, and 2) we had also planed to buy breakfast after leaving our caravan on the day of departure.
Also, in 2015 the school holiday provision had a delayed start, we had booked for the first week of what in 2015 was a seven week summer holiday and found out that we were a week to early to enjoy some things, for example there was no 'Captain Blood' which our daughter had looked forward to.
However, despite our 2015 experience not being as good as our fantastic 2014 we will gladly return again.

Booked here for 9 nights from July 6th pre school holidays, enjoyed it so much stayed an extra night.
Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Entertainment staff brilliant. Johnny and Co worked hard to keep us entertained. Bar staff brilliant. Nothing was to much for any one who works here from the receptionists to the refuse collecting team. The site was exceptionally clean and we'll maintained. The toilets and shower blocks exceptionally clean. The restaurant offers a good variety as well as the specials on offer. The American 10 pin bowling is great. The pool with its sauna, steam room and hot tub all looked after very well. The only bad point for us was we had to leave. As it says in the advert Carlsberg doesn't do camp sites but if they did. It couldn't beat this one.

We have been coming to this site for many years and have watched its growth. My husband and his fishing club hold a friendly competition but it's more of a social weekend. The fishing is not too good on the beach but we can't find another campsite with as much to offer as this one so we keep coming back. Hard to fault toilet blocks immaculate always just generally top notch everywhere. Good walks along to West Bay friendly enough rules without being too many

Where do we start :)
At the beginning…. I phoned the site to book the pitch as I always get paranoid of booking wrong when online. The man on the phone was nice and polite. I asked if I could choose my own pitch rather than be allocated one - not a problem if it was available. I asked for a pitch near the park for the kids. He recommended the tent field as I have a large tent. Seems fair, no problem.
When I got to the site I find a bulldozer where the park once was and a few similar size tents in the field around it, but not to worry.
The allocated pitch in the tent field was HUGE and flat - they all are. I could've got another tent and car of the same size on the same pitch no problem! toilet block barely a minute walk away, spotless and large. Pleased with the showers as it had an on/off tap rather than the frustrating push button many sites seem to have. Restaurant was nice above some very small arcades. Food was pricey as to be expected (or maybe I'm just tight?!) - £35 for 2 adult meals 2 kids meals and 2 drinks. Very nice though. Didn't go to evening entertainment so can't comment on that. Swimming pools are great, didn't use the outdoor ones as it was a bit nippy but the kids loved the indoor one, should imagine gets very busy during peak times! private shingle beach is huge too. On site shop (spar) very handy and sell the wifi which isn't that bad but restricted to 100mb a day. Large playing field for older kids to play football and whatever else they choose, they won't run out of space anyway.
West Bay, Bridport and Weymouth all within half hour away so lots to do if you want a drive out with a Morrisons just 5 mins away by car.
Overall enjoyed the site and would go again although imagine would be very busy in peak times as already said :)
