We have just enjoyed a relaxing weekend at this very laid back and friendly campsite. All facilities were clean and tidy, excellent inside and outside play area for children and beautiful surrounding countryside, in particular great access to the cuckoo trail!
We would definitely recommend and intend to return ourselves in the future!

Very pleasant family run site, very clean facilities. Very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble, play park for the kids and was nice to have a site where no rules next town about 1. 5 miles had major supermarkets fuel etc also close to eastbourne and quite a few attractions. Makes a great base Will be going back again.

Fantastic camp site. Shop is well equipped and very cheap for holiday a shop, having 4 kids of different age range they all kept entertained with brilliant games room including darts pool table, table tennis, arts and craft/baby corner, swingball, and little park very relaxed site with most welcoming owner
Showers are the cleanest I have ever seen on a camp site it was lovely to feel clean when camping as normally hate my feet on shower floor but as I say they were immaculate
So impressed with site we extended our stay and stayed 2 weeks which the owner juggled things kindly about so it was possible for us to do this as she is lovely and very flexible but best thing is the camp site is so kid friendly I strongly recommend any body visiting even if this site is on your doorstep.

Me and my wife visited this site over the August bank holiday weekend. We managed to pick the wettest weekend of the year, in a 24 hour period it rained for 23 hours solid! The site was so well drained, at any time walking across the grass was ok in flip flops. The site is small, very quiet and run by a wonderful lady. This was their busiest weekend of the year but we had an abundance of room for both tent and car next to it. Small play area for the children outside with a small games room inside open till 10pm. Site had tents, motor homes and a caravan all of which fitted in well.
A small shop at reception had the basic essentials needed. The showers were clean with plenty of hot water. One real bonus you don't have to be off site at any specific time, this was great as we needed a few hours to allow the tent to dry before folding it away. Eastbourne is only 20 minutes down the road and worth a visit, esp Beachy head.
If your looking for a small, quiet and well run site this is for you. We will be returning in the future.

This is a really nice site for families (and others but especially families. The owner is extremely helpful and clearly cares about the site and this is evident in the care and attention and personal touches. She is very flexible and easy to contact if needed, there is a warm and friendly atmosphere. There are a range of homely facilities and they are all very clean. For kids, there is a swing ball, indoor games barn, sand pit (think it may have started life as Boules!)and a few small play items like a swing. Children are encouraged to play in the centre of the main site so if you don't really like kids probably best stay away at certain times or pick your pitch carefully! That said, this is a very inclusive site and I do know they get lots of repeat visitors from couples to singles to families.
Theres a small shop, and a fridge and freezer that can be used for a few items for campers. If you want a small family run site where you will be made welcome this is great, its probably a better site for people with tents (any size) or small units but that's just my view. We are heading back again later this month.
Plenty to do locally and a nice farm shop (Sharnfold)up the road which has a pick your own area and play area, as well as a cafe. You will need a car although there are plenty of walks, cycle rides and things, but to really explore you would be best with a car. Visit the Tiger Inn pub at East Dean or the Bells at Jevington for a nice pint in a garden or village green.
Brilliant site.

We were looking for somewhere local to us for a weekend just to get the Tent out of winter storage and check it over(and see if we can remember how to put it up) before a week away in devon in august.
We found the site to be just what we needed. We got there at 12pm on the friday to be greeted by the owner, she was very friendly and polite and told us to pitch wherever we liked.
The site is very level and obviously drains very well as it had rained every day for the 3 days previously, and was not muddy or soft underfoot at all.
There is no electric hookup or hard standing, but this is not an issue for us.
It is surrounded by fields which had horses, sheep and 2 geese with 3 goslings.
As you enter the site on your left is the office/shop. The shop had all the essentials, and relies on an honesty tray for you to pay as it is unmanned. Do not worry if you do not have the right money as the owner will find you later in the day and give you any change you are owed. There is a freezer for you to freeze ice blocks at no charge
There is a small play area which has 2 swings and a baby swing a slide and climbing rungs. There is also a petanque(boules Rink) but this was being used as a sand pit much to our kids delight. There are 2 showers in the mens and ladies with free plentiful lovely hot water. The showers/toilets were always clean with plenty of loo roll. There is also 2 sinks for washing up again with lovely hot water.
There is a shed with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, and much to my wifes delight a mirror and 2 sockets so that she could dry and straighten her hair(there is a charge for the W/M and T/D).
The piece de resistance for our Kids(5 and 3)was the games room or the Club as they christened it. This contained 2 table tennis tables, a fusball table pool table and a dart board. One corner of it was sectioned of into a Kiddies corner with soft toys, games and colouring pens and paper.
I would highly reccomend this site, especially if you have small children, it is totally enclosed and we did not worry about our two the whole time we were there which made it more relaxing for my wife and i.
The ownwer is friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
We will definitely be going back again for another weekend as the kids did not want to leave.
We are so lucky having it on our doorstep.

Just back from our first ever family camping trip! We chose Cuckoos Rest having read the reviews on this site and we weren't disappointed and will definitely be going back.
It is a small site with a lovely outside play area for the children and a great indoor games room for children of all ages that includes table tennis tables, pool and a small area for under 7's.
There is an area to wash up your plates etc. Which has 2 sinks and was very clean. There are fab. Showers that are immaculate and very clean sinks and toilets. There is a little shop which sells ice, ice pops, drinks, bacon, butter and snacks as well as torches, mallets etc.
Karina, the owner is absolutely lovely and very friendly and helped to make our first trip very enjoyable. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Our two children aged 8 & 5 had a great time and didn't want to come home.
Good location to visit castles and other local attractions.
A quiet, family friendly pretty site. Highly recommended. Great value for money. We are all looking forward to our next visit.

We found this site on the internet and were really pleased with it.
We were a family of 4 with two children aged 6 and 8.
It is a fairly simple affair, with a main field for camping, but is well run, not very busy and very friendly. Importantly the showers (and washing water) were hot when we needed them and the toilet facilities very clean.
We stayed here as we wanted to be near the Cuckoo trail cycle trail, which was 5 mins down the quiet road (we cycled there and back a couple of times with the kids in convoy, and only stopped on the odd occasion of a passing car - which all slow down to pass).
There was plenty of space for the kids to run around (our kids like to play football), it was fully enclosed with lots of room. The games room was also a big hit with a pool table, table tennis, and plenty of drawing equipment.
The little shop on site came in handy with all the essentials.
The kids also enjoyed feeding grass to the horses in the next field.
All in all a very enjoyable weekend, and if want to cycle the Cuckoo trail again - which was excellent so we might - we will stay here.
Thanks

As camping novices we chose Cuckoos Rest as it was local to us to try out our newly purchased tent. The owner was extremely friendly both on email and in person and offering help if we were to need it. The shop was useful and it was open all hours as an honesty box system was used. (I hope that people do pay!) A nice idea was that you could borrow magazines and books to read. My main worry about camping is that I have a public toilet phobia but I didn't have to worry here as the showers and toilets were cleaned regularly, had a plentiful supply of toilet paper, endless hot water and were warm. We were able to pitch the tent anywhere. There was ample space in the middle for children to play in the field. Plenty of games including table tennis, sturdy wooden swing and slide equipment and a sand pit. All in all a great campsite.

Just got back from a week in cuckoos rest, it was fantastic!
The owner is so friendly and couldn't do more for us, it rained really bad one day and she came to make sure we were all dry and ok, in all the places I have stayed over the years, she was the nicest most caring lady we have met.
The playground for the kids was great, we had 5 kids with us altogether and they all loved it and didn't want to go home, she sat down with them one day and asked them what other things they would like to have in the park which I thought was really good that she cared what the kids thought and listened to their ideas.
The shower block was cleaned on a regular basis and was spotless, no complaints at all about them.
Shop was well stocked with affordable prices which we found great, we could freeze our freezer blocks at no extra cost, we even charged our electric cigarettes as well which was a god send as I drained my car battery doing this for the first few days!
Really close to all local attractions either by car, walking or cycling.
All in all we had a brilliant time at the cuckoos rest and will definitely be going back again and again
