Wonderful stay this weekend - lovely small and peaceful site.
Views of the South Downs and surrounding fields are nice. Cuckoo Trail for safe walking/ cycling/ scootering is very close by, you can even walk to Polegate shops and railway station in 30 mins.
You can choose where to pitch and with everyone choosing the edge of the site and the entrance gate in sight you can always see where your children are, so can relax nicely. Lots of games on hand to borrow, like badminton, table tennis and swing ball.
Showers, toilets and washing up lovely and clean. Small shop well stocked.
Owner was very friendly and welcoming. A great place to stay.

A big thankyou to the owners of Cuckoos Rest near Polegate. Just returned from a fabulous few days over Jubilee weekend.
Site is small but not crowded with a range of things for kids to do. It is a level site and appears to have excellent drainage. A little lumpy in places and we were glad of airbeds to iron these out.
Site was easy to find with owners instructions and is down a very peaceful lane. On arrival we were met by the owner who explained the brilliant honesty policy in the shop.
Free choice on pitch location. She asked us to use common sense and it seemed that most people did apart from the chap who pitched up almost on top of the drinking water source.
Really clean, new shower block. Free powerful showers. Toilets regularly cleaned etc etc. Enough facilities to not have to wait for the first visit of the day!
Couple of clean sinks for washing up with hot water.
There is a shed with wash machine and tumble drier which can be accessed for £2. My wife has to wash hair every day and there was no hair drying facility so the owner gave my wife the keys to laundry shed and allowed her to use power in there for free. Owner has plans to remedy this and will be sorting hair driers.
Overall a fantastic small new and clean site. It is a 5 minute car journey, 10 minute cycle or 30 minute walk from any services.
We cycled into Polegate where there is a Harvester PUB. (OK)
We cycled the flat 6 miles to Eastbourne on the Cuckoo trail/cycle trails. Really easy.
We also went UP the Cuckoo trail to Horam. Do eat at Wessons cafe here it is a great stop to watch motorcyclists devour massive fry up!

Just spent a lovely weekend at this hidden gem that is Cuckoo's Rest.
I have to say we were a little apprehensive as there were no reviews to go on but need not have worried one bit.
Booked by phone,, booking was hassle free and informal.
Upon arrival owner met us at the gate and said we could pitch wherever we liked and she would come over and see us in a while (which she duly did to point out all the facilities).
The field is lovely, open and deceptively large, with fantastic views of the downs and meadows to three sides, one corner is well sheltered by some high hedges and a nice big tree gave some much needed shade from the sun.
There is a really nice play area for children and also a badminton net, swingball and a sandpit to play 'boulle'.
The toilet and shower block were nice and new and very clean and the showers were lovely and hot. There are two sinks and draining boards to wash up and there is a freshwater/drinking water stand pipe.
There is a nice little shop just inside the entrance gate and was well stocked with a wide range of supplies, there are even freezers where you can put your thawed out ice packs to refreeze. (the shop does have opening hours but even when it was shut they opened it so we could buy some bottled water and extra ice).
The camp site has nice big signs at the entrance so hard to miss and is a short walk from the cuckoo trail with nice walks to Hailsham and Polgate.
All in all, had a fantastic stay and my friends and I were made to feel really welcome.
We definitely recommend Cuckoo's Rest campsite and look forward to going back later in the summer.
