We have been visiting the Parklands camp site for the last 4 years, and have always enjoyed our holiday there. Each year the site has been improved from our previous visits.
With plenty of space for the kids to play (the trampolines are the favorite ) and a games room, swings, slide and giant chess set, there is ample outdoor facilities to keep them amused.
Situated on a level field approximately one mile from Kingsbridge town center (easy access for the shops) the site has lots of hook ups and tap water outlets. There is a local pub and post office at the nearby village of Churchstow and a wonderful country butchers shop on the way to Lodiswell.
The lovely beaches of Bantham and Thurleston are only a short drive through the winding lanes, so we have the choice of country walks or sandy beaches to enjoy.
James (the site owner) has always made us feel most welcome, and he keeps the site nice and tidy. The only downside for us is having to leave when our holiday is over.

This was our third visit to Parklands over the past couple of years and I must say standards have slipped. I was very disappointed with the whole stay and attitude of the owners.  I made a group booking well in advance but our requests were not met and we had more tents than pitches with no price reduction.  The toilet facilities are no where near adequate to the amount of tents and people also they were very shabby and in need of refurbishment.  There are no facilities to leave rubbish unless you purchase a special black bag for £1.  I am hoping the owners will read this and improve and increase the facilities because the site itself is really nice very level with lovely kept grass and the location is excellent for South Devon, Dartmoor, Kingsbridge and beaches.

Ideal location.  Large supermarket at Kingsbridge, pretty town.  Campsite friendly but shower/toilet blocks which have been poorly designed and are rather grotty but just about bearable.  We had young children and managed.  They did clean with bleach which got on to one of our towels.  Water was free but a little erratic.  Site was very crowded but was quiet at night.  Play area not ideally located next to the main car entrance.  Children loved going to the small games room! Not sure if we would go back despite loving the area.

James made us feel really welcome hear despite the weather. We just get the tent up in time for the rain to start :)

Anyway campsite has free electricity, separate family washrooms, recycling, games room, pets, washing up room, washing machine room... and the trampolines are an instant hit with the kids!

Plots are nice and flat, with well kept lawns. What more could you ask for, well maybe an on-site shop would be handy, but Somerfield in Kingsbridge is big and not far away.

I will say that the site is well laid out, plenty of room, and nice and level. Furthermore there is a very good outside play area for children, although the games room would be crowded with more than six people in it, although that is immaterial.

The real bug bear for us were the facilities which are pretty grim, (Saying basic would be kind). They are certainly not modern, in fact, I would say in need of modernisation, and although basically clean, (loo's and showers) there were always a lot of stray hairs around, etc. The shower cubicles were covered by a nylon shower curtain which clung to you, and everyone else). The showers were difficult to regulate and you were likely to get a very hot one or a cool one.

Also during the night the site is not lit at all, not even the toilet blocks, so make sure you take a torch. Our final moan would be the rubbish disposal - or lack of it. While I am all for recycling, and would willingly recycle lots of items, there were only two standard size dustbins for general waste for the whole site. There were nine of us, and when you have three disposable bar-b-que's, plus meat trays, etc, you soon fill a black sack, which we then had to take to the local tip.

I think this place could be made into a goldmine, it is in a very good posistion

Can only echo reviews already submitted! Very new campers but found the site perfect for us, very quiet and friendly. On arrival James showed us to our pitch and said "anywhere there", pitches are not marked and got the impression as long as you don't take the mickey you can spread yourself. Trampolines went down a storm with the kids (aged 4 and 11)and plenty of space for them to play by our tent. Site was blissfully quiet past 9.30pm and sure we were first to bed and last up! Will definitely go again but will take more buckets to act as bins, site operates a strict recycling policy so easier to seperate at source rather than at the bins.

This was our second time at Parkland, first time was June and was very quiet with only 5 or so tents and 10 caravans on site, this time was much busier but still seemed quiet. Lovely kept grass and hedged sides.

Nice, friendly, clean, no pets allowed. Small site so not far from toilets and showers. James the owner is always on hand for any anything you may need or problems if they arise. 4 tramolines and small play area.

Close to the lovely town of kingsbridge which has supermarket, pubs, take-away's and post office etc.

About 15 minutes drive from Salcombe, Hope Cove and Bantham beaches and half hour from Blackpool Sands.

Seems to attract families and couples and we will definilty return.

This site is well situated for south hams, beaches & close to Kingsbridge for shopping. Friendly owner & uncommercialised. Children liked the trampolines, although no football area as quoted on website. However, we were there for one of the busiest weeks and James the owner was cramming tents in-approx 70 tents/ caravans when we arrived (website says 50 pitches). Tents were pitched in rows back to back up & down the field and some only had a 1-2mtr gap between them with no space to park cars. Also very little space for kids to play except for where cars are driven. This all made it feel a bit cramped. Also situated next to quite a busy road with hgv's and farm vehs out before 7am each morning.

I have to disagree with all other comments re toilets/showers. With the site being crowded the facilities were not kept clean enough. Plenty of toilet rolls & a squirt of bleach each day was ok, but stains on the walls and floors when we arrived were still there a week later when we left. Although hot water ran off combi boilers, hot showers were difficult to come by. We gave up one day, when the showers in each of the family rooms were freezing. At all other times the hot water was very erratic alternating between scorching hot and freezing cold. Also no shelves in showers to put anything on and hooks for clothes were above the doors, so out of reach to some people. Others also commented about the lack of hot water and cleanliness.

Recycling policy is good, separating all rubbish into separate bins.
Fridges & freezers were useful, as was microwave if you needed it.
Perhaps out of peak season when tents are dotted around the edge of the field as per the piccie on their website these problems would not occur. We had a great holiday in this area as there is plenty to do

"Why have we been coming back to Parklands for over 25 years ?"
Simple, it is a friendly, well-run site in an ideal location.
James Parker has created the right atmosphere and can always be relied upon for good advice on local events and places to visit. The site is equally suitable for both couples or families, without being over commercial.
The site location, just outside the attractive town of Kingsbridge, means that the superb coastline and beaches of the South Hams are easily accessible. Dartmoor is also close".

This is an excellent campsite. the facilities are great, The kids have pleny of room to play in and are completely safe.

We have been here twice now and will definitely stay here again.

We like this site because it is small quiet and well maintained. The owner is friendly and helpful.

There are also plenty of things to see & do in the area whatever the weather.
