We had a terrific Easter weekend at this outstanding site.
I'd have to say there are a few negatives but these are easily outweighed by the positives.
Firstly the pitch we were on was rather uneven and had a gentle slope, it rained fairly heavily so this was more of an issue. The toilet block, though spotlessly clean only had one shower per sex and ran out of hot water if you were not quick off the mark in the morning.
The location is truly outstanding, whatever you want to do, country strolls or visiting the beautiful towns of Bradford Upon Avon or Bath. The owner was very helpful and the site wasn't bogged down by unnecessary rules. In amongst the farm and trees was a truly idyllic setting.
We will be back!

We had a fabulous stay at the Blackberries, Beryll and Adrian, the owners, are lovely people and were very generous with their hospitality. The Blacberries is a very special place and is unique with many features that one does not normally find on a campsite. You can forage for wood for your evening fire in the forest just behind the pitches this was a regular habit for us and became a ritual! We saw deer amongst the trees and there are Badger sets too. One evening we went for a moonrise picnic to watch the big, orange harvest moon rise over the valley amongst a field of inquisitive cows!
The site has an immaculate toilet block which was always clean and well maintained, early in the morning you can see the sunrise from it. We had no issues getting a shower and there are more on the way.
There is a little shelter with a large table and chairs near the entrance where you can read through local information books etc.
The one thing we enjoyed particularly was that Adrian and Beryll are folk musicians and they have music nights occasionally where anyone is welcome to join in and play or just sit (sometimes dance!) around the campfire. The first night we arrived they had a mini folk festival it really was a fantastic evening, full of laughter and great music and a great chance to meet your fellow campers. Having said that it didn't go on late as the owners are very mindful of not disturbing people. The stars were out, owls hooting nearby, bats flying overhead, marshmallows on the fire and flames flickering against lovely old trees.
Another lovely touch was the central fenced paddock which had chickens and goats in it, great for children and the goats are such characters.
The site is ideally situated near Bath and has access to glorious countryside, it really couldn't be a better location.
We miss Beryll and Adrian and the Blackberries and wish them the very best for the future, we will hopefully be back next season, maybe a bit better on our Mandolins!

This could be such a lovely site. No regimented formations, but pitches spread amongst the trees. We stayed for 4 nights, but the weekend nights were anything but peaceful, due to selfish parties that were staying and could not adhere to quiet after 11 pm. Come Sunday night and peace returned and you could actually get into the single shower (one for male and one for female). We did enjoy our stay, and visiting the surrounding countryside. We would recommend dring quiet periods.

A friendly, quiet, peaceful site. Unfussy and relaxed. The facilities are basic, but as we stayed at a low peak time we had no problems. The owners were helpful and were able to give good advice as to local walks and places of interest. Great location for Bath and all it's attractions. We really enjoyed our stay. Many thanks.

I travel on my own and look for seclusion and peace and quiet. I certainly found it here. I have just spent two nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Surrounded by woods and BLACKBERRIES. Lovely. I was fascinated to hear the owls as the light faded and as it returned in the mornings. There are chickens and goats in an enclosure and cows in a field next to the site. The facilities are limited, but adequate, so I have to rate this site highly for my put-your-feet-up-in-the-sunshine needs. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I will be returning here when I'm in the area.

Great countryside location on the outskirts of Bath, not far from Bradford on Avon. Very good compromise between developing the site for guests and leaving it in a natural state. I love the atmosphere of sites where money is not demanded from you before you can drive on. It's so much more relaxing to arrive and be pointed to a pitch and left to it. Paid the next day when we bumped into the owners, perfect.
Only slight negative was the one shower and toilet per gender and that water started to cool when busy. Showers were very good though and I would prefer quality over quantity any day. I am sure more will be added as time goes by.
We stayed in the lodge and the rest of the part was a caper van and a tent. We were all together and it was lovely to be around the fire pit at night.
Would recommend this site to anyone not seeking an 'all singing all dancing' commercial site.

Perfect little woodland retreat. Just had a lovely stay at the Blackberries and would definitely recommend this place. Had not camped in a woodland site before but loved it.
Short walk to a fantastic gastro pub 'The Muddy Duck'. Short drive to Bradford on Avon where we hired bikes and cycled the canal tow path.
Owners Beryl and Adrian are very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Would say that you will need to book well in advance. We could not get in for the May bank Holiday so booked for August instead. Would even suggest booking for next year.
Only very slight criticism was that there was only 1 shower and 1 toilet per gender. However we did not wait long, they were spotless and it definitely did not put us off.
I can't wait to return next year.

This site is the perfect retreat for those who want to enjoy a peaceful, friendly and relaxed time while camping. It is not your typical commercial site with pools, slides etc the camp site is your playground and what a perfect playground it is.
The site is beautifully laid out with areas for natural flora and fauna and credit has to go to the owners, Adrian and Beryl, for the work they have put into getting the right balance.
We were made welcome from the day we arrived to the day we left and the owners always had time for a chat and give us some excellent local knowledge, they even BBQ for us one evening, big thanks for that.
We were supplied with a fire pit and had our teenage children forage in the woods for sticks, and most nights we sat around the fire enjoying the peacefulness of our surroundings and our own company, something we forget to do in our busy lives.
There is one toilet and shower for each sex and they were kept very clean and we never had any issues waiting for them. I know there is plans for more and possibly a small shop but given that this is their first year I was more than happy with the facilities provided.
We spent 5 wonderful days in what can only be described as 'true camping heaven'
BIG THANKS FROM THE PALMER FAMILY

The camp site is very niclely located. The staff is friendly and you feel happy in nature. There are only 2 showers and 3 toilets for all, which can lead to some wait in the morning.
We had the experience, that the pitching pf the tents is not rgulated. So we found a large group 2 meters next to our tent one evening. Since people stayed up late and talked around the fire we had a hard time to sleep. We didn't like this and left early.
|
Management response: We always try to ensure that all visitors to our site are well catered for and have an enjoyable stay.
The people who camped next to 'Bouncy Tigger' were a couple of metres away. My husband at the request of 'Bouncy Tigger' went to check the situation, the time was around 8.45pm and found that the small group of people were enjoying a chat around the camp fire, toasting marshmallows. He did not think that they were loud and certainly had no music playing. Our cut off point for music / noise is 11pm and this was well within that time frame.
We are sorry for any inconvenience to any of the campers. Thank you, Beryl and Adrian |

We've just returned from a great week at Blackberries. What a lovely site! So picturesque and beautifully laid out. Peaceful and a haven for wildlife - including the chickens and goats!
The facilities are spotless, with plenty of hot water, although only a couple of toilets and showers at the moment, there wasn't a problem with queuing. More toilets and showers are being built. Lots of interesting walks from the site and a great pub, the Muddy Duck at Monkton Farleigh, 15 mins walk away.
Beryl and Adrian are very helpful and so friendly - we wish them lots of luck with their venture and hope to visit again one day.
