We've just returned from our 4th visit to Pondwell and will definitely be going back next year - all 11 of us! My family and I stay in the Cedar bungalows for a week every year in May and have only good things to say about them. The site is beautiful and extremely well kept. The site staff are very welcoming and are always on hand to offer advice and information when you need it. It's the perfect place to relax as it's so peaceful, and there is plenty of space to have a kick about or fly a kite. The Seaview Hotel in town is a nice place, although we only had a drink there, the food looked great and we'll definitely be trying it out next year. The Old Fort Cafe on Seaview front is really good for food too. One tip though - don't bother with the Wishing Well pub - I don't know what's happened to this place since we went last year. Go to the Appley Manor Hotel on the road into Ryde instead - good value pub grub (where you don't have to wait an hour for your food) and friendly and helpful staff. By the way, the Wishing Well is nothing to do with Pondwell, it just happens to be next door!

I visited this site twice in 2006 in April and September. On both occasions it was off season. I found it after a short tour of local sites, and chose it as it appeared peaceful and uncluttered. I was not disappointed.
It was what I consider the nearest thing to 'real' camping, with the bare essentials necessary being provided. No noisy clubs discharging late night revelers, no slot machines or anything to disturb the peace of the area.
I found it very well kept, the toilet and shower blocks were always very clean, the rubbish bins emptied frequently, and the field tidy. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the receptionist remembered me and welcomed me back on my second visit. She had good local knowledge and was happy to answer any questions I had about the area. The shop was well stocked, and had some local produce as well as the usual items.
I will be back again this year, and can't wait until I can enjoy another few days there. Very highly recommended for a peaceful break. Thank you to all concerned.

August 2004 Just got back from August Bank Holiday camping at Pondwell. It's an adequate site that could be so much better.
Pros: >Good location. The No.8 bus from/to Ryde stops just outside the camp site. >Good pub on site. >Lots of room for children to run around. >Shop on site stocks all the basics.
Cons: >Practically every pitch is on a slope. >The toilet and shower blocks are really showing their age. (In my view, ivy should grow outside a building, not in through the gaps in the roof!) >We had to borrow an extra long hook-up lead as our 25m one wouldn't reach the hook-up point. >Childrens playground very neglected and needing repair/replacement.
We had a pretty good stay at Pondwell once the weather improved. However, it's not a site we will be rushing back to.

July for 10 years I am only thirteen but I have been to Pondwell campsite for ten years in a row and we have never had one complaint. They have a safe site with area's for kids, they have good clean tolites and lots of warm water, you can even have a bath. They have a play area for the kids and a pub that sell delicious food, I recommend the garlic prawns. It is a short walking distance from Bembridge and Seagrove Beach. This is a wonderful site!!!!!!

May 2004 This site is basically a really big open field with toilets and showers at each end. You can pick your own spot to camp but be aware that not both toilets blocks are necessarily open so you may have quite a walk! The showers and toilets were clean when we arrived but got a bit muddy after a couple of wet days. Also not sure if there'd be enough showers if the field was full. The pub is virtually on site which serves good food and isn't too noisy at night. There's quite a busy road nearby but that wasn't too noisy at night either. In fact the only major criticism of this place is the geese that wander freely across the site. They weren't particularly noisy but the entire field was covered in poo! And as careful as we were, it still ended up on our shoes, on our tent, in the showers and even on our clothes. Can't imagine what it would be like with children!!

August 2003 We've just returned from a fabulous week on this site with our two young girls.
As per previous comments the site is well set up good shower blocks (even a bath) and a lovely pub serving good food at a good price (with a veranda overlooking the site).
You get woken up by the geese at about 07:00 but this was fine as it was quite family oriented so everyone was in bed by 10 or 11 and up by 8 or 9.
I spoke to many people there that come back year after year (some who even live in the vacinity). We thought this was a real find for anyone seeking to avoid the swimming pool/slot machine type site.
Very cheap too and tent size no problem (we have a 12 man tent which needs 10m2!)

May 2003 Excellent site - very friendly owners who made us feel very welcome and, if they thought we were mad stopping over in a tent in the pouring rain in May, they were polite enough not to say so.
Good clean shower and toilet blocks - should imagine it gets fairly busy in the summer. Short walk to the beach. Well equiped shop. In May in the rain it was just us and the local rabbits and geese - we would go back again

august 2002
- leave the a3055 from Ryde and head east along the b3330 the road bears south east.
- at the top of a hill as you enter Pondwell there is a junction with a minor road. Left takes you to "Flamingo Park" and right is Bullen Road.
- continue straight ahead along the B3330 down the hill.
- as the road goes hard right there is a pub on the left called "the Wishing Well "
- turn left of the pub and you have arrived.
Review:
1) the owners are very very helpful, very friendly with a well equipped shop for local info (and food, etc)
2)the site is spacious and surprisingly peaceful as it is a family site with plenty of room for the kids to play
3) there are two toilet blocks (arachnaphobes, be afraid) and one clean and spider free bath/shower block - there is a games room and tv room
4)it is right on top of the pub which has a good atmosphere and serves a wide range of good food (again not too noisy)
