Have been to this site a couple of times now and despite the numerous campsites in the area and indeed in nearby areas, I find myself wanting to return here all the time because I know that if I do I'll be getting friendly service, super clean toilets/showers and well maintained facilities. Tent field is a bit smaller this year I think as a new entrance and etc has been constructed and is on a slight slope but that doesn't affect anything. Small heated pool is excellent and walk to the rocky beach is nice too. Great for younger kids too, but if you're a couple I wouldn't let this put you off because any kids I saw ( including my own!) were well behaved. Think the cleanliness etc of the park and attitude of the owners sets the right tone for the place.

This is a lovely site with fabulous views over the Dee Estuary. It is 3.5 miles from Bridgehouse Bay, which is 10 times larger & owned by the same family. One can use all the facilities at the sister site. Seaward is a very peaceful site.
The husband & wife team running the site are very helpful & friendly. The toilet blocks are a little old fashioned but very clean & the showers excellent. There are two family bathrooms. There is a lovely children's play area with mini football pitch (soft balls only) & badminton net. The outdoor swimming pool is very nice & remarkably warm. There is an excellent Pitch & Putt (extra charge). Kirkudbright is a lovely small town & about 2 miles away.
For caravans I would recommend the ordinary hardstanding pitches rather than the Superpitches which are extremely small & get more shade. Otherwise this site is highly recommended.

This was our first visit to Scotland, the first caravan park of our tour and also our first holiday away without the children so I had studied this site beforehand to try and choose bases that would hopefully provide peace, quiet and relaxation.
We were not disapointed here! Arriving early evening we were instantly met and directed to our spot. Always a nice start. We had no touring neighbours - it was midweek in October - and we were directed to a pitch which had wonderful views out to sea. As we tour with a Hobby (back to front layout!) we opened our living room window to a picture perfect scene.
The site was quiet and 100% peaceful, very clean facilities, hot water free showers, lovely walking area for the dog, nicely segregated from the statics which are on a different level.
Kirkcudbright is within easy driving distance, a pleasant town, shops, garage & good eating spots.
We enjoyed a lovely meal in the The George, friendly staff and good food.
An ideal base for touring the local area, we went as far as the Mull of Galloway, Port Logan and Portpatrick followed by the best nights sleep ever in the peace and quiet of this lovely spot!

We had a great holiday at this campsite. We really liked the site, it is kept in fantastic condition, with beautiful plants, great views of the bay. It is near enough to Kirkcudbright that you can easily pop in to get shopping. The showers and toilets are very clean and the washing facilities are great.

We're just back from our third trip here in the last 12 months and I thought I add my views on this wonderful campsite. It's in a lovely location with stunning views over the bay and located a few minutes drive from Kirkcudbright itself. A short walk to the nearby beach (which has toilets located in the car park) or a lovely drive to other nearby beaches at Brighouse Bay and Carrick Bay (where you can even walk across a sandbar to an island, great fun for kids.) There are some level pitches but many are on a slight slope, however, this isn't too noticeable. The small outdoor pool is great for messing about in, the shop has all the essentials and a few treats for children. The games room has a TV (if you must), an air hockey table and some video games. The lounge / bar (with separate family room) is open for a few hours on Friday and Saturday evenings and you can play darts, cards, dominoes or watch TV. The shower block, laundrette and covered dish washing area is very good and spotlessly clean, although a fair distance from the camping field (which does have its own emergency toilet however). The (free) showers deserve a special mention as being the hottest and most powerful I've ever used on a campsite. And you don't even have to keep pushing a button as you just turn the dial when you are finished. Jan and Paul, the park managers, take an obvious pride in their site and it is well looked after with the grass short, edges strimmed and no sign of rubbish anywhere. The bins were never full and there is even a recycling station. There is a useful play area for under 12's which has swings, a climbing frame house, playhouse, table tennis table, etc., and a separate playing field with small football goals and a badminton net. However, this is not a site for those with older children or for large groups looking for late night parties. All pitches are clearly marked and you are expected to pitch within your boundary and observe the site "quiet time" curfew. All in all one of the best campsites I ever been to and we'll definitely be back before the end of the season. If you're looking for a small, quiet, child friendly, professionally run campsite with stunning views and all the basics you need you will struggle to do better than Seaward.

Well what can I say? If you have teenagers this is not the site for you ours were bored sensless and spoilt our break. Nothing for them to do really. If however you have small children or are a couple then this is the place for you. A fantasic find, clean and maintained to the highest standard, beautiful views and very peaceful, lovely walks along the beach too. The facillities are second to none, lovely pool lounge bar if you wish and every where is spotless. Well stocked shop I could go on and on, the wardens are; friendly helpful and nothing is too much trouble, they have local knowlege and can recomend a day trip out if you wish. Will I return? Just try and stop me. Minus the teenagers of course. So if you want a peaceful and enjoyable relaxing holiday then it has to be SEAWARD EVERY time.

Well what can I say.this has been the BEST site we have been on since we started camping! We can only say that this site has been a fantastic find and really deserves our review. The site itself is as it says peaceful, it is beautifully 'manicured' with a choice of large sized, well mowed grass pitches or hard standings, all of which have a view over the sea. The park and the pool are within view of all pitches which is great for families. The toilets and showers are very clean, and they have even put thought into the extra things such as a long mirror and hair dryers they also have two unisex rooms which each boast toilet, shower, hand basin and vanity unit so you can enjoy your own space.
All these facilities are FREE. It is clear when you arrive that alot of time is spent on this site and it does the owners proud! Also the shop is well stocked, they have a small lounge/bar TV and games room.what more could you wish for.
O a lovely short 'mowed pathway' walk to the beach with outstanding views again! and the best staff, who couldn't do enough for us and our children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cant wait to return.

Returned to Seaward for the new season, and what a difference the warders have made to the site. The shop and games room has been moved around, the shop is more modern and welcoming, with the reception at the front, they have added an office also. Looks like the heated pool is having a make over again as workmen were in the pool taking off the tiles. As I walked around the site I notices a lot more work as gone into the site itself. Well done,I have never seen the place looking so good. Keep up the good work.

I re-visited this site in August, it had been about two or three years since I was last there. I could not beleave the differance with in the site. New managers/wardens and the work and effort that they have put into the site since taking over is fantastic. When I was last there the site was just ticking over and it was busy if they had one tent and three or four tourers on site, it was a real great supprise to see the place being used to its great potential and being enjoyed by alot more people.
The new couple that have taken over are really friendly and are happy to assist in any way they can, nothing is any trouble and they always have time to stop and say hello with a friendly cheery smile. The shop is well stocked up now and you can get almost everything that you may need on a basic day to day, if not it is only two miles to Kirkcudbright. Definitely well worth a visit and plenty of places to visit for all ages and likes. Will be sure to return next year, if not before the season is over this year.
