Just back from this site , this would be a good choice if you are planning a expedition up Ben Nevis, the pitches for non hook up clients are very steep and the wind howls. Unlucky that we had a bit of rain but the site drainage was none existent. The club was good and the staff were polite and helpful , the swimming pool was good size unlike the changing rooms which were tiny and no showers. Really can not understand why they give you a key for the toilet block, one key between 4 of us so we played who had the key last all week , really annoying after the ten minute hike down hill to the block. Widemouth bay manor pub great 5 mins away by car good food and service. Would not go back to this site too steep and to windy.

Lovely site, clean and tidy, the warden was very friendly and helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble for him. He offered help if we needed. We suffered a power cut while we were there but this was resolved very quickly and with much apologising! All of the staff were very understanding of our Autistic son and his needs - couldn't ask for better! There were not very many level pitches but we did get used to sleeping on a bit of a hill! Not a huge amount of showers but we didn't have a problem with queues - lots of hot water. The shop was a bit pricey and small but no more than we expected on a camp site. There is a Morrisons in Bude just 10 minutes away. Mobile phone coverage very good. Beaches lovely - but we did need a car to get to them! We will definitely go back to this site in the summer.

We have just returned from 5 nights on this very pleasant site. We were at the top of the hill overlooking the sea. The warden Rob is very helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble! The swimming pool was a little cool for my liking and an unpleasant smell emanated whenever the gents changing room door was opened. The club is well laid out, but would benefit from being separated into smoking and non smoking areas. Get in early if you want a seat - children's club starts at 6pm and by 7pm there are no seats left! The children's entertainers were excellent, however my teenage children were not keen to participate and were at a loss for something to do. My main criticism of the facilities would be that there are not enough toilet / shower blocks (only two sets for three large fields) during peak times leading to long queues for the toilet and showers. Also the facilities are closed for cleaning at peak times during the morning leaving campers to walk a fair distance to the second toilet block! Most inconvenient when your 5 year old is desperate! We would use the site again if in the area.

First time I have ever been shown and helped to pitch by the Warden. Site very easy to find. Facilities very good, showers and toilets can be crowded but if you pick your time, no problems. Ideal for touring base for north Cornwall and south Devon. Hookups more than adequate. Good club and swimming pool on site. Looks like some unlevel pitches but we were pitched fairly level and on hard standing.
Warden very helpful and would return to this site. To travel to Black Rock beach wasn't too bad a walk but families with young children would probably be better with transport. Superb beach well supervised.

August 2005 We found very few flat pitches hence leveling equipment is a necessity. Club and pool very crowded and entry restrictive due to low person capacity. Toilets still use a key system but definitly require more regular cleaning and re-stocking. Site shop comprehensive but at £1.11 for a standard sliced loaf expensive. Widemouth Bay is great for the sea and body/surf boarding. Best provisions available at Morrison's Bude (second Bude turning).

August 2005 went to this site because the blurb said " a few minutes walk to the beach ", maybe if you are a professional runner! The club house was very noisy and far too crowded, I took all my teenage and adult children, so I'm used to noise, but it was a bit too much! By far the worst bit was the toilets. The camp was very full and the toilets were only cleaned once a day, therefore they became very dirty and the paper run out all the time,no idea why they had a key to get in, it was a pain. On a positive note, the site was in a wonderful setting, Widemouth bay is a great beach and there are several nearby pubs to go to for great food etc.

July 2005 Just returned from a wonderful week camping at this park. All staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent facilities on site. The entertainment team were great with the children and they had a great time at the foxy club. We had an electric hook up and the pitch was on a bit of a slope but the view over the hills and sea made up for it. The site was very busy but we did not find it too noisy.
Widemouth Bay is a short (uphill) walk away from the site. You can walk into Bude along the coast path from this site but it is over 3 miles and you would need to be fit! Will definitely return to this site again.

August 2003 Swimming pool and club house very crowded doesn't seem big enough for the size of site. Toilets and showers very good kids found key system difficult in the dark. Very few flat pitches kept sliding to one end of tent(we left early and found another site with more level pitches and not so crowded)

June 2003 The Camp site was a short drive to the beach, very nice Coastal views. The Tent pitches where not perfectly flat making it difficult to sleep without all of use (5) sliding down one end.
The club house and the facilities where very good, Live entertainment , Good beer ,Swimming Pool ,Enclosed Playing field , mini gold etc.
Very nice Trip.

August 2002 Nice campsite - we were lucky enough to have great weather, found the clubhouse a bit noisy (only due to the loudness of the hostesses!), pool was too small, but shower block and toilet block was very clean. Only problem was the key system - a bit awkward in the dark and if the kids had gone to the loo and you wanted to have a shower. Nearby pubs (walking distance) were great for food and entertainment. Widemouth bay was fantastically flat but access was by steps only and there was a lot of rocks. We were fortunate enough to sample Cornish hot weather and "glass-like" seas...... Give it a visit. Hilly and a couple of miles outside Bude.
