This is an excellent site. We don't like overly busy sites, with everyone packed in and all the mod cons and much prefer basic, friendly sites like this. Toilets and showers were fine and there was plenty of boiling hot water. Dogs are more than welcome and the cooked breakfast in the farmhouse kitchen is a must! Very friendly owners and the other users were also friendly. Dent is great - the George & Dragon does wonderful food but was really busy. We pre-booked to eat in the dining room but even the bar was full by 7.30pm.

I think this must be the best site we've ever stayed on. Yes, it's basic but when I go camping I don't need my hairdryer, heated underfloor bathrooms or tarmaced pathways. 4 of us went in 2 campervans, we set up on a perfect pitch, with views over the Howgills. There were others at the site but it wasn't cramped, like the big site down the road, which looked awful! This is a dog friendly site, with the owners' dogs pottering around (mainly looking for treats from happy campers!) and a lovely big ginger cat on site too. As others have noted, the toilets facilities aren't spectacular but they are OK, showers worked just fine and the water was piping hot. The owners are wonderfully friendly and we took advantage of the cooked breakfast, served in the farmhouse kitchen, both mornings. On Saturday night, we ate at the George & Dragon which was great but you need to book - it was packed by 7pm. As this site is only 45 mins from home, we will definitely go back for another lazy weekend in Dent. Excellent.

A group of us went here as a last minute trip with a friend who had been before. It was our first camping trip and was really just a taster for camping. Dent is one of the most picturesque places I have ever seen, a quintessential English village. You have to drive down lots of winding country lanes and through the cobbled village of Dent to to get to the site. The farm is in a kind of valley and the field is quite sloping so even though we were on the flatter bit we still felt a bit tilted! The farmhouse also advertised that it did full English Breakfast though we didn't try it. It is cheap to pitch, £4 for adults and £2 for children. We arrived at about 6.30pm on a hot Friday evening and the site was quite empty, however, by Saturday lunchtime it was practically full. The facilities were basic, with one shower and one toilet in the same room for the women. This was a problem with small children who wanted the toilet but were unable to go because the shower was in use. Also, the toilet had a leak so there was constantly muddy water and bits of grass on the floor. We ate at a pub in the village, the Sun Inn I think it was called, one evening and the food was reasonable and nice. There are also lots of little shops in the village selling all sorts. On Saturday we went to Ingleton Falls, again we had to drive down about 8 miles of narrow, winding roads to get to it and had to stop to open and close about 4 gates on the way (I am sure there is an easier way of getting to it!). Ingleton Falls is well worth a visit and all the children (youngest 30 months) enjoyed the four and a half mile walk. Walking shoes, or at least trainers, are a must. Despite the basic facilities and it being our first camping trip we still loved I it and I am sure we will be having many more camping holidays in the future, though perhaps somewhere a little better equiped!

Nice little campsite, people are nice. Showers do the job, and are clean (but basic). The best bit about the campsite is the 3 quid full english in the morning. 4 quid a night is ok value. Dent the place though is quite boring, but maybe interesting to walkers, cyclists ect. This camp site is very near to Wernside peak and in driving distance of Ingleborgh. Dent although is small has a great pub which sells some lovely food, a great lasagnae!

Just got back from a weekend at this site. As previously said, the site is on a good slope with only the bottom of the site to find a near enough level pitch. Toilet facilities were dissapointing. Unfortunately, this weekend was really hot and the site filled up with a cycling club rally so the water turned to a trickle and toilets wouldn't flush. There were not enough toilets and showers for this many people. We counted about 50 units each with 2 to 5 people in each one. There was no organisation as to where tents were placed. We were totally blocked in by other cars and tents so we were quite worried when everyone started the barbecues up on saturday night!
We chose this site as it was cheaper than the other in the village. When we rung to enquire we were told the price was £4 per adult & £2 per child, but on arrival we were only charged £10 for 2 adults & 3 children (ages 10, 8 & 4). Even so, we still thought this a bit steep considering the poor facilities.
Beautiful village to stay in. Great walks and an ideal base for walking the Dales if you don't mind roughing it!

July 2004 A quiet little campsite, only a couple of hundred yards from the centre of Dent. The facilities were very basic - 4 toilets and a couple of showers, but these were fairly clean. The showers are free, and very welcome after a hot day walking the Dalesway. The campsite is on a slope and you will be lucky to find a perfectly level pitch. A cooked breakfast is available from the farmhouse if you cannot be bothered cooking first thing in the morning. There a couple of good pubs in the village, I found the Sun very friendly and reasonably priced, they even have their own ales, brewed by the Dent Brewery! Overall, I found the site good value for £3 per night, and will not hesitate to stay again if I am in the area.
