Stayed here for 10 nights with other members of the family who have been coming here for a few years now.
Site really easy to find. All pitches on grass but well drained, on a slope so levelling blocks needed for a caravan.
We liked the fact that the bins and drinking water taps were close to all pitches, chemical disposal is at the central toilet / kitchen /laundry block which was very clean with free hot showers.
On a Sunday there is a car boot sale run by Looe Lions Club, in the field next to the site.
There were some swings in the centre of the site for children, also a dog walk around the outside of the car boot field.
The site was full when we were there and although the pitches were quite large, some may feel rather cramped. Lots of children playing round the site but not intrusive and it was quiet after about 10:30pm
Will certainly go again as it is a Value for Money site.

We stayed on the site again this year for the third year running. It's a brilliant site.
Brenda the lady at reception is a really nice person and tells it like it is but nothing is too much trouble for her.
The toilets and showers are good and clean and the pitches are big enough
The chip wagon on site is really good with large portions if you are big eaters.
Well worth the money.
The shop is well stocked with all you could ask for and staff are very nice to you.
It is one of the best site we have been to.

I thought that this site was brilliant. The washing up rooms and toilets were cleaned at least twice daily and there was always plenty of hot water for a shower and always loo paper.
The chippy on site was so good I couldn't stop my boys from eating there even if we had already had our tea! It was also very good value for money.
The site was patrolled in the evening and so there was never any problem with noise.
There is a shop on site but this closes between 12 pm and 4. 00 pm. They do not do a freezer block chilling service but ask you to put a £1 deposit on one of theirs and charge you 10p for a replacement, so don't forget to take them back.
If you walk to the back of the site there is a gate that will lead you to the road down to Talland Bay which is gorgeous. From there you can walk to Looe to Polperro.
I especially loved the bell calling the monks to mass from the monastery next door but beware this calls them at 6 am then 7 am but nothing really too obtrusive.
The price was also very very good and I will definitely return again.

My family and I thought this site was perfect for us. We are 2 adults, 3 children, age 11, 8 and 3 and we all enjoyed ourselves. The toilets and showers were very clean. Free hairdryers. I used the laundry facilities and found these were good. The shop was always well stocked and the prices were good too. You can hire cooler bricks from the shop for £1 deposit then pay 10p each in exchange. The kids loved the small park and made lots of friends, we could sit out at night with a glass of wine whilst the kids were on the park til 10 o'clock at night. It's a lovely, family site and the ladies who run this site are fantastic. Whilst there, there was one person who broke the curfew and first thing the next morning they kicked him off the site. The ladies are up very early cleaning the showers and picking up any litter.
Looe and Polperro are gorgeous. Lots of little shops in Looe. Talland Bay is my favourite place when we visit West Wayland, it's a gorgeous beach with a cafe and small car park, it's a steep hill if you're walking! There are lots of boat trips out of Looe and Polperro, mainly fishing trips. Went crabbing in Looe which the kids loved. There is loads and loads to do if you visit Looe. You will have a fabulous time!
We stayed for a week and the weather was very good, only 1 night when it rained. A very happy family who enjoyed a brilliant 1 week holiday for only £13. 40 a night! Will definitely be going again in July 2012. Brilliant site for us. If you want clubs, amusements, swimming pools and entertainment then this is not the holiday for you, but if you like the simple things and a lovely quiet holiday where your children can make new friends in beautiful surroundings then come to West Wayland.

Site really easy to find. Very easy access road and tarmac. Small shop. All pitches seems to be on grass but well drained.
We liked the fact that the bins were close to all pitches, that the site was well lit at night and water points were more than adequate.
In the centre of the site, is situated the toilet block which was very clean with showers. Also a wash up area and washing machines.
There is a gate at the bottom of the field where you can walk to Talland Bay to a small beach. There is a cafe down there with limited parking. Similarly one can walk to Polperro on the coastal path.
On a Sunday there is a car boot sale in the field next to the site.
There were some swings in the centre of the site for children, also a down walk around the outside of the car boot field.
The site was about half full when we were there and although the pitches were quite large, I would not wish to stay during July/August in very high season as it may be rather cramped.
Will certainly go again and would love it if they were open all year.

Lovely peaceful site with great views of Talland bay. £73 for two for the week was a very good deal. The site is quiet and next to an abbey that rings gentle chimes around the day hours and mass times. Curfew time is 11pm and everyone (bar one family) stuck to it and had it not been our last night anyway, we would have complained. I get the clear impression the owners don't tolerate curfew breakers so a good plus point, and if you know you are one of those who cant keep curfew, you wont be camping for long!
Not much on site but that's the way we liked it, no swimming pool or bar means no noise at night, even better for us! Toilet block basic but clean with showers, hand soap dispensers and air dryer/shaver points and to the rear of the block washing up sinks. There is also a small shop near the entrance lane selling tins, dairy products, newspapers, toiletries, cutlery, camping accessories etc. The site is the halfway point between Looe and Polperro.
Walking down the hill to Talland bay you will come to a small beach with lovely view, and two cafes close by. From here you can choose to take the coastal paths to either Looe or Polperro. Turn left to Looe and you will see the lovely church overlooking the bay and a peaceful visit if you choose to go in.
I would recommend the following; Get to Looe bakery, the custard tarts are to die for and the walk to the banjo pier and sea front and many shops of all kinds for gifts some top quality!
The three pilchards public house and the Treble cafe at Polperro and Chip Ahoy are amongst the many place to rest and eat. Didn't think much to the Blue Peter pub or the crumplehorn but that's my opinion. The three pilchards has a two tier beer garden above the pub which overlooks most of Polperro harbour area. The Polperro Heritage museum is value for money all round, less than £2 an adult! There is also Looe museum with a similar fee and equally interesting.
There is a bus that will stop at the camp entrance and runs hourly either to Looe or Polperro and beyond so get the timetable from the camp shop. Also there is an on site takeaway from Tuesday to Saturday for your fish and chips/chicken/burgers and very good value and well cooked liberal portions!
Only problem with Polperro is if you need cash to hand, I didn't find a cash dispenser that had no fee for withdrawals, but I believe certain banks (not all) can be drawn on free of charge from the post office, . As well as a fee charging machine in the post office too! Otherwise get your cash to hand from Looe, there are two dispensers free of charges at least, HSBC and Barclays, you cant miss them.
Avoid a certain cafe tucked away behind the main road near the harbour side at Looe, chips were ok but its cod wasn't cod, heavens knows what it was I got, but it wasn't cod at the time of day I wanted cod! wont say the name but seating on the left and the back when you go in, and counter of the right. Instead use the main chip shop on the right side of the main road as you walk into the town centre (just before the public toilets and tourist info block)
Will we return, oh yes, when we can:-)

We spent two nights here last week and it is a lovely camp-site.Very safe for children and lovely facilities- so clean. Also very cheap. It cost us £15.00 for two nights, this was including electric.( 2 adults and a toddler)
The only negative to this site is it is quite windy, but not really a negative. Just want to give a fair outlook.
We will definitely be going back.

I spent 3 weeks in Uk in July and it's the best camp-site I went and the cheapest. I went and left with big rain and wind but the 4 days I stayed werre good enough. Toilets were simple but well painted (clear) and always clean. Big and no queue. Easy to wash and dry clothes. The Lady was kind and very helpful to recharge my batteries. No wifi zone. Nice place to stay with Polperro and Looe easy to go by bus (bus stop at campsite). I visit Cornwall (Edenproject, Fowey, St Yves etc. Very good value campsite !

This was our second visit to this site. The first was during the school holidays when of course it was much busier and noisier.
This time we were able to really appreciate it - extremely good value for money with excellent free hot showers.
A bonus was the car boot sale on the adjoining field!
Just a couple of 'buts' - there were no facilities for recycling, and some hand-soap would be a real bonus, but that is being picky!
We would thoroughly recommend this site and will definitely be going back there again next year.

We visited West Wayland in 2009 and 2010 and both times had a fantastic holiday. Our Children made many new friends and enjoyed the controlled freedom they had as most pitches overlook the central park area. Its so true what they say, if your children are happy, so are the parents!
Brenda is a hugely respected character whom will not put up with site rule breakers she frequently walks around the site with her clipboard keeping an eye on things!
The area is lovely with lots to do within close proximity.
The car boot sale is very good and so convenient!
Fish and chips from the site 'chip van' is adequate, fairly priced and very popular.
On site shop is also well stocked and fairly priced.
We recommend this site to all and we hope to return very soon.
