We recently had our first visit to the Caravan Club site at Garlieston in Scotland, what a lovely site, as usual with all the clubs sites, the wardens are very friendly and helpful and the sites facility's were immaculately clean. The location is great for exploring this area, or if you prefer to stay local, the area and it's views are beautiful, and when you've had enough walking the local pub is only 5 minutes walk from the site and does excellent food. We will definitely be returning to this site again.

Lovely site with excellent views over the water. Were able to find a sheltered pitch from the high October winds. Good facilities well maintained. Easy walk to the pub and shop. Good walking along the coast wished we had taken our bikes.

We don't tend to use the club sites too often, but this experience could change that. Lovely site, well kept, friendly staff, quiet. All in all, a gem. Beautiful location right on the seafront, secure. Nice little Inn just 50yds down the road, perfect. Although we only stayed the one night due to work constraints, I'm pretty sure that we will return. Well done to the caravan club and the staff at Garlieston!

What a beautiful peaceful site with friendly and helpful wardens. We are on a tour of Scotland and picked this site for our wedding anniversary before meeting up with friends to go further North and East. We initially wondered about travelling so fast wet before going North but it was certainly worth the effort. We would certainly have missed out it we hadn't visited this site. We found the pitch size more than adequate - we have a Vanmaster 640 and an almost full size awning. Although we weren't on a pitch right on the harbour wall we still had an excellent view of the bay due to the way the pitches were laid out. This is not a big site but that is part of the appeal. The site has 2 areas - one part overlooking the harbour and the other in a walled garden which was more secluded. The whole site was immaculately kept by the hard working wardens. The floral display by the entrance was particularly nice. Both of the toilet blocks were spotless and cleaned thoroughly every day.
We would certainly recommend this site for a relaxing and peaceful stay. As it mentioned it does not have a play area but that was one of the appealing factors to us. Although there are no dedicated dog walking areas there are plenty of walks close to the site as well as the beach when the tide is out.
A real gem of a site

This is a small peaceful site in a lovely area. The main part of the site offers views of the bay; however, the pitches are a bit on the small side, so it felt very cramped to us. It does mention that most of these pitches are not big enough for awnings, but we did not appreciate how close the adjacent pitches would be. The toilet block is dated but spotlessly clean. Nice village with a small shop and a pub. We just had a drink there but people were having evening meals. As the Caravan Club states, this is a quiet site with no facilities for children or any space for them to play, so not recommended for families.
Beware if travelling from Glasgow/ Ayrshire that your sat nav might try and take you through the Galloway forest as it is the most direct route; however it is a single track road with very few passing places, so I suggest taking the longer route.

A lovely site which is well looked after by the very friendly wardens. We were fortunate to have a pitch on the water side, though any pitch would be more than acceptable on this pretty site. The facilities were very clean. They could possibly do with a little updating, with the addition of more toilets and showers for busy times. This is an opinion rather than a criticism as other than that the site is almost perfect for a quiet, relaxing break.
The local pub serves delicious meals, at very low cost. We can definitely recommend eating there--especially the steak pie and the lasagne! The pub is dog friendly, in fact the resident dog wouldn't let us in until we had stroked it. The village shop is small but quite well stocked.
We have recommended the Garlieston site to caravanning family and friends and will definitely stay there again.

Just spent 5 enjoyable nights at this lovely site. A warm welcome from Ann & Martin who are in their first season here. Facilities were immaculate. We stayed on a 'harbour' pitch (very relaxing watching the tide) with lovely views over the bay and to the unspoilt village of Garlieston which has a small shop and friendly local pub. The site is also handy to catch the local bus to Newton Stewart, Wigtown (Scotland's book town) and Isle if Whithorn. Enjoyed a walk in nearby Galloway House Gardens. A trip to the Mull of Galloway (most southerly point of Scotland) is worthwhile. Glad we discovered Garlieston!

Lovely site in two halves sheltered walled area and waterside. No shop, but local shops walkable and village pub does homely food at a reasonable price with a roaring fire. Lots of buses to choose from if you want to venture further, good walks for dogs too. Wardens friendly and toilets and showers clean and warm.

We stayed for four nights at this small intimate site. We had a lovely friendly welcome on arrival. The wardens are very chatty and give you ideas what to do in the area.
The site is split into two. One on the harbour side with the wardens office and the other across the small road into a walled garden with a closed gate.
There were two toilet blocks one on each site. All lovely and clean. We stayed on the harbour side but it only had two showers, so sometimes you had to queue.
A lot of pitches on the harbour side were non awning pitches, just a few at the back on the perimeter is where you could have an awning up. Possibly giving everyone a chance to see the views.
The site very peaceful and relaxing. Walking off site both ways along the water front as far as you want to go, lovely. No beaches as such only very rocky with the water coming into the edge. When the tide goes out the sea. It disappears.
The site too small for children not much anywhere for them to do.
Mobile phone signal good
A small general shop and a pub in the village. Also bus stop.
