Lovely small site in very quiet fishing village. Very good for dogs and easy walking. Local pub very good value (decent pint £2. 50, good bar meals with veggie choices at £4. 95 - about 1/2 the price of lake district pubs! Extra feature of site is the fact part of site will flood when a 10m high tide coincides with low pressure and southery winds! (but only up to lower part of wheels!)
Enjoyed our short stay.

Small caravan club site right on the harbour at Garlieston - great views from the harbourside pitches. Nice place with coastal walks and a local pub and a wee shop on the harbour.
Mix of hardstanding and grass pitches, all very level, good toilet facilities as would be expected from the Caravan Club.
Would go again - although a bit disappointed in Wigtown - maybe it is more attractive when it isn't raining.

We turned up at this site about 4pm on a Sunday afternoon without a booking and were very lucky to get the last available pitch.
The wardens were very helpful, and happy to chat when they had time. All of the facilities, and the site, were in excellent condition, with clean toilets and showers.
Although our pitch was close to the entrance to the site, we didn't find it at all noisy. The best pitches are those overlooking the sea (although these don't have much room for awnings), but I imagine you have to book a long time ahead to get one of those! There are other pitches in a separate part of the site across the road, which don't have a sea view.
There are a couple of small shops in the village, a few minutes walk away, and a pub which sells food. There is also a bus service (every two hours or so) to Wigtown and Whithorn, so it would be possible to get a bus along the coast and walk back.
A lovely site which we hope to go back to for a longer stay.

This is a great site in a very friendly town. If you are lucky you can get seawall pitch and spend hours just looking out at sea. The pitches are very good and roomy and the site is very well maintained. The showers and washroom is clean and there are plenty of showers. I found the wardens helpful and friendly.
There are some good walks around the coast and you can see parts of the famous Mulberry Harbour that was build and erected here before the invasion of France during the WW2.
I would recommend this site to anyone who wants to get away from the world and have some peace in nice surroundings.

We have just returned from 4 nights at this site, as expected from club sites it was immaculate. Everything clean and tidy. We had a pitch by the harbour wall and had the most amazing views. The weather was gorgeous and we went for long walks and cycle rides in the area.
The wardens were really friendly and helpful advising us on the local area. We tried the pub but did not eat there, reasonable prices and the menu looked fine.
Fresh fish can be bought from a van on Tuesday nights, it was lovely, really recommend the smoked haddock.
Garleston is a lovely fishing village, very quiet and friendly people.
I notice on a previous post that the deli in Whithorn was recommended, unfortunately it has now closed.
We visited the Whiskey distillery at Bladnoch, recommend the produce!
This is a lovely site and is the best club site we have been to as far as location is concerned.

Members only site rang whilst touring on a Bank Holiday weekend. There is no doubt having read the other Reviews that your stay impressions will depend on which Wardens are in charge. I should have known something was wrong when booking on the phone the Lady stated can I hold as the Husband deals with bookings.
On arrival it is pointed out to you that you must park with your vehicle or Caravan centre of the marker post. I failed by 5 inches and as the 6 Caravaners who were regulars behind they soon had the Warden visit me who informed me to move it.
The site is immaculate clean toilets lovely showers. The walks in the area are stunning. Did not visit the pub. Everybody will tell you to visit Wigtown Market on a Saturday about 7 stalls fall of junk.
Lovely site shame about warden.

An excellent site, well kept and well located. Lovely views from harbourside across the bay and good walking from the site.
Local pub may lack decorative charm but the food is excellent and exceptional value for money.
Worth noting that access through the village is tight due to parked cars and new arrivals would do well to heed the 12 o'clock rule to avoid difficult encounters.
So many people arrived early (some before 11am) and caused problems with parking and units trying to leave. A little less selfishness by members would go a long way, and all credit to the wardens for dealing with it all so cheerfully!

We arrived here at 7.30 pm Bank Holiday Saturday after a prolonged journey (x2 major accidents on the M6)but made better by a reassuring phone call from the Warden telling us which pitches were free for us to use when we arrived. This made it so much easier so we could just pitch and settle in, CC card through the letter box and settle up the next morning - smashing.
As already mentioned the site is in a great location, shop (licensed), harbour, pub and beach all 5 mins walk. The sea frontage at Garlieston is quaint with its coloured cottages and the small bowling green.
The Harbour Inn is cosy, good beers and food cheap and well cooked.Friendly folk in village and pub.
Would recommend drive to Whithorn, good shops especially Deli/cafe on main street near to War memorial.
We managed 2 good walks from site on the coastal paths - South round to Cruggleston Bay (picnic benches) past Galloway House and gardens and woods and North through woods and fields to small rocky coves, both stunning in different ways.
All site facilities excellent and friendly wardens.
Worth noting that although Calor sold on site the size we required was not in stock, next nearest stockist is Alan's garage just outside the village at crossroads however we had to pick some up in Whithorn (opposite war memorial) as they had sold out too.

What a fantastic site. We had wonderful views across the harbour and as I love watching oyster-catchers I was really chuffed. The condition of the facilities is a credit to the club wardens and as there are two separate areas to the site, you have got a choice of two toilet blocks - plenty of hot showers and a good motorhome stop-off area (not often provided).
We went on a lovely walk from the site onto a small remote beach and saw seals, cormorants drying their wings as well as the usual waders once the sea had gone out.
Visited the local pub just once - very friendly locals and from what we gathered the food was good.
The site is definitely worth a visit.

It was our first stay on CC site and what a fantastic place to start. We were lucky to be pitched right on the harbour with amazing views. I think we had the best pitch on the site, opening the curtains every morning to that view made our holiday!
The toilet/shower block is kept clean, with hot water and powerful showers.
Garlieston is a charming village, a small shop is close to the site, and the Harbour pub is just on the corner, very good value the best homemade steak pie at a good price, and the beer is cheap too. Its also very dog friendly.
If you are looking for somewhere to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings then Garlieston CC site would be the place.
