Had a wonderful stay here,we stayed in the apple orchard looked very nice with apples just starting to drop off trees, lovely level site, showers are fantastic very clean and hot.
A few days spent fishing the lakes very peaceful a few catches. The lakes are just 5min walk down farm track, or you can drive with kit if needed, only 1 thing that would be handy is some where to refreeze freezer packs, will be going back.
Owners very friendly on arrival giving local information, love the recycling bins too.

A Cracking little campsite that a group of us stayed at over the last weekend in Sept (caravan/campervan and tents.10 of us)
Loads of space on each pitch, all grass with most pitches right in the apple orchid. For cider mmmmm
They let us choose where we wanted to set up
Free wifi if your within 150m of the main building
The wash house was small but perfectly clean though I reckon on a full site you may have to time it right for the showers/toilets if you're camping.
Nice walks round the lakes and local fields
Dog friendly
Very quiet area with a small town within 5 miles if you need anything
All of us in the group loved it and will be using this for weekend getaways as we only live just over an hour away.
9/10 purely for the fact the shower/toilets would probably (however we never experienced it) be quite busy if the site was full.
Can get a freeview picture easily!
Felt perfectly safe.
Has 2 lakes that you can fish on (though extra).
Arrive when you like (am/pm) and wasn't told we had to be off by a certain time either.
Very easy to get to and very well sign posted off the a303 coming from the east

As novice campers we decided to spend just one night here to break up our journey from Swansea to Portsmouth. Not knowing what to expect we were greeted by the very friendly owners who told us to pitch up wherever we liked. We didn't require an electrical hook up so picked a nice quiet spot by the trees. The pitch was flat with lovely green grass and we had a nice peaceful night, although I was informed by a neighbour the following morning that my snoring didn't go unnoticed! The facilities were very good with numerous toilets and a washing up area, and I even took advantage of the very good hot shower in the morning. A five minutes walk from the site was a nice set of fishing lakes within the farmgrounds but we gave the seemingly longer walk to the village a miss during our short stay. At £16 per night we would certainly use this site again.

What a lovely campsite, beautiful surroundings and helpful owners. The site itself is not large and has no shop, club or pub so is very peaceful. The fishing lakes are very well looked after and you can park the car next to where you are fishing. There are some lovely walks to go on around the site and lots of wildlife to see. The pitch sizes are generous, toilets and shower blocks were kept clean. Will definitely go back to this campsite and stay for longer next time.

Wow, we loved this site! Our main priority when camping is dog walks and this site had them in abundance - the owners have mown paths all around the fields (there must be about 4-5 fields) and there is a lovely walk around the lakes also so for dog owners this site is a paradise.
The site itself is very flat, and you camp amongst the apple trees. Nice and tidy camping area with a laid back attitude, owner said 'pitch where we like' and 'leave when you want' and no stuffy rules given out either. Think this reflected in the people staying here as well, even though there were quite a few children on site we had no noise and everyone seem chilled. The dawn chorus was amazing in the morning and so was sunset / sunrise.
The toilet block was adequate, plenty of hot water and showers were fine - there were 2 showers and 3 loos in the women's and what I liked about the loos is that they were huge - nothing worse than being cramped on the toilet! I would imagine in high season though there would be a bit of wait for a shower if the site was full.
Good set up for waste / recycling and lots of information in the washing up porch of local attractions / events and eateries in the area.
To sum up: this is what camping should be about - a relaxed atmosphere, peace & quiet, no clubhouse or gimmicks - just a pretty site set amongst unspoilt countryside. It was perfection for us.

We stayed for a week at the end of April and virtually had the place to ourselves.
On arrival we paid and were told to park where we wanted within the orchard. The grass was in really good condition though it was early in the season.
The toilet block was small and functional though I think it could do with an update and some heating that early in the season.
Good dog walks around the surrounding fields and down to the lake.
The fishing was very slow though the lake was large and had many swims.
The rural location of the site made it very quiet and dark at night with some stunning sunrise's and sunset's.
Tesco not too far away, though it was a car journey.
Very helpful owners.
The only thing I would have to consider before using this site again is how far it is away from major towns attractions etc.
If the fishing is good and that's what you went for then it is spot on if you want more than that then it may be just a little too rural.

Stayed here over the spring bank holiday. We arrived on thursday evening and virtually had the whole campsite to choose from. We had EHU and were directed to the orchard where we picked our own site near to the shower block (not too near).
The toilets were adequate on Friday but busier and queues on sat morning. The ladies (three) toilets were clean and plenty of t/rolls.
The showers were running cold by ten am on sat and sun, They were hot again by evening. Just need to pick your time really, Mums and kids seem to use the morning slot.
The washing up area is quite small.
The dog walking areas were more than adequate, we have two dogs and the owners have made a path all around the surrounding fields so easy to walk them.
We were directed to the pub in nearest village which did very good food and the dogs were allowed in the bar area.
All in all I was very impressed.

Visited this site August Bank Holiday 2008 as part of a group of 10 family's.
Toilet and shower blocks clean and tidy, could do with a slight upgrade though.
Site itself nice size for group bookings, but also nice for family's. Kids played for hours collecting the falling apple's from tree's scattered on site.
Very pretty small villages surround the area. Nice for walking and cycling. Tesco not far away, although would need to get there by car.
Would consider going back next year (weather permitting!)

Visited Thorney Lakes over the bank holiday weekend. Enjoyed our stay, apart from there was an illegal party that lasted all night which apparently happened last year on the August Bank Holiday as well. Beware that weekend! Good points: Quiet site, very little road noise etc Beautiful walks nearby and Muchelney is a lovely village Friendly owners Things that could be better: The shower block isn't great. There are solar showers which couldn't cope with demand over the bank hol weekend and so were cold, and you had to queue. They're not cleaned very often either A great site at the quieter times of year!

Have used this site a few times and always find it to be friendly no very friendly. The fishing is great and the locals are full of advice (nice that is)of what and where to fish for best results it is rumoured of 20lb plus carp but biggest I have had is 14lb. site reasonably flat you park between the trees nice in spring and summer. Toilet block is a bit lacking but does the job when needed will be back again and again.
