Yes I agree with previous reviews, car park and Doug man of few words, but I must say what a lovely little site, right on the edge of the loch, 2 minutes walk from small village, pub about a minute away which serves meals. There are a few sited caravans who seem to have the lochside pitches but never mind you can still see the loch from all the pitches. Toilets and showers were clean and warm. Fishing was not that good, although it could have been the weather which was terrible over the Easter break. If we are in the area we will definitely be returning and hoping for better weather next time.

Just back from a 5 day stay. Yes it is a little like a car park and it is quite public with footpath running through but it is still a lovely lochside location in a small ish town.
We were pitched on the grass up by the park which was great for our 2 kids. 3 1/2 and 9 1/2 yrs. We could watch them from the trailer and they had a bit of freedom. The loch was always very pretty. Edged by the golf course. Small bar fence at lochside but not childproof. Ours just wandered about with their life jackets on the whole time which wasn't a problem.
Dug, the warden is a man of few words but always willing to help. Facilities were always clean although basic and the washing machine is free at present although this is due to change this year as a coin mechanism is to be installed. Site has about 15 sited vans who seem to have a wee community going although we were made very welcome.
Slipway was helpful for launching our 11ft boat with electric outboard but no petrol engines allowed. We only saw one fish caught during our stay although we were assured that there are some very big 20lb plus fish in the water. The only thing mine caught were a few bags of golf balls which are plentiful over by the 8th hole.
Grass cutting on the golf course did start about 7.30am and I did hear it all but one morning but it wasn't too intrusive. I have a 3 1/2 year old who was usually on the move about this time so no great problem for us but if you like a longer lie it may be a consideration.
We have family in Dumfries so this was an ideal way to combine a holiday with visiting the relatives. Overall this was a nice basic site which we would visit again.

We have used this site for the past four years as a stop over.
Just as Guyrope says lovely Basic site wouldn't use for a holiday but ideal for a one or two night stop over. It is like a car park but at the side of the Loch.Which is unfenced!
You can fish for free and the use of small boats is allowed also, not power boats. There is a small park (Two swings) at the front of the park, but there is ducks and swans on the Loch.
Part time warden but he has the pet shop in the village.
The toilets/ showers have been upgraded and are clean, much cleaner than another site I stopped at in Edinburgh.
There is one washing machine which is free also.
Lochmaben is a small village with the A75 running through it only a few shops and a pub within two minutes of the site.

If you are looking for a quiet environment and don't mind roughing it, then this is the site for you. This small site is situated right beside kirk loch in the small town of Lochmaben, a short journey from Locharbie. On a lovely sunny day, a beautiful site with picturesque views, but very exposed in wet and windy weather.
The toilet facilities were basic, similar to school toilet block. The toilets were clean but the tiles on the shower showed mildew and water sprayed out onto floor with no where to drain, leaving a wet area to dry self in.
There is a right of way along the side of the loch, which is a pleasurable walk used by dog walkers. This site is less than two minutes from Lochmaben golf course.
A small grass area to the back of the site had swings for children.
The warden was most helpful and friendly.
We had an enjoyable few days but feel that the toilet facilities let this site down.
