The site manager communicated really well and was very friendly.
The site facilities are spotless.
Would be nice if the village had somewhere to sit down to eat as neither pub do food.
Takeaway Chinese or fish and chips!
Nice walks round lakes and dumfries a short car ride

Been to loch Kirk caravan site 5 times. Lovely outlook over loch kirk from our caravan. Welcomed by the people of the village and the 2 public Houses the Kings Arms and the Crown.
There is a great cafe/bakery for a nice breakfast if do not feel like cooking also and fantastic fish and chip shop they also make pizza's and kebabs.
If golf is your thing then you have a beautiful 18hole course that wraps around the loch to play and fishing is your thing free fishing on loch kirk if you are staying on the caravan site.
Peter who I book with goes out of his way to accommodate everything to make your stay a good one but unfortunately he cannot guarantee the weather.
The site has wc shower block which are cleaned daily also a laundry for a small fee. 16amp electric and water on the pitch you are allocated.
In my eyes a lovely hidden gem and thoroughly recommend you give it a try
You won't be disappointed

This is nice little site, convenient for the M74/M6 in a pretty location. We stopped over here for a single night on the way back South from The Highlands.
This site is run by the local Dumfries and Galloway Council and sits alongside a lovely loch in a pretty part of Lochmaben, with a pub sitting nearby.
The site looks like it was once a car park, pitches are mostly tarmac, not entirely flat, but they have water and a TV connection if you want it. The facilities are clean and modern, entry is via a keycode as this site is open for the public (no barrier by the entrance) to walk through.
There is no motorhome grey waste point, so we did have to empty with a bucket at the toilet block. Most of the pitches look like seasonal caravans that have the choice locations and make a visitor feel a bit of an outsider.
There was no check-in as the site is not always manned, so we had to call to get details by a phone call before arrival. The £32. 50 per night seemed a little steep and had to be paid at the time of booking ten weeks prior to our visit.
We were quite tired on arrival after a long journey, so didn't visit the town or pub, but hopefully will if we return.

Had an excellent time a Kirk loch campsite. Weather was amazing and the facilities were clean and perfect.
What made our stay even better was the residential people on site. John, jimmy, Trisha and Margaret song with everyone else were ever so friendly and polite to us that it made us book an extra night on the Sunday.
The local people staying in the village were also very welcoming and friendly especially a young keen fisherman.
My partner and This lovely young boy spoke away for hours about fishing along with the people on the site.
We will definitely be booking again for a weekend or maybe longer.

It was next to the loch so there was an opportunity for open water swimming which I did.
The showers were lovely and hot and quite powerful.
The site was basically a car park so not much room and quite pricey for what it was but it was next to a pub and in the centre of the town which was good.

Pros - Lovely lochside site, toilets newly done & clean, showers warm, bonus of The Crown pub at entrance, with great beer garden & great food at good prices.
Cons - Has no drive over grey waste disposal, we were told emm think it just goes in the elsan waste, def not ideal, you have to use a bucket, walking up& down stairs & decoding door every time, also back & forward to your motorhome or park infront of other vans but still the stairs & decoding door.
We also had to reverse upto another van to get water as our 5mtr hose would stretch from tap on post, which we were told to use to our pitch. Besides not getting to empty the waste, as no bucket & it would have taken too long,
We had a good stay, possibly £24 tad much for no drive over waste, but would definitely go back, only if I had a bucket.

E mailed request on day of visit
Prompt reply and follow up call.
Met by warden. Efficient and helpful
Quiet picturesque site.
Spaces a little tight for our size of motorhome but manageable.
Shower block reasonably good though bit if a drainage prob in gents.
