Just arrived back from 2 weeks at this site and would certainly return again! First time camping in France and not disappointed.
Our pitch was huge, plenty of room for large dome tent, car and badminton net in front. We are used to having problems finding sites with large enough pitches in England, so this was great.
Toilets, although shared male/female were cleaned three times a day. We never queued for showers and the water was always lovely and warm. Pool area was great. Outdoor pool was quite cold, but it didn't bother our 7 and 10 year olds. Indoor pool was warmer. Again very clean.
Majority of campers were Dutch and they were very friendly. British that we spoke to would all return. Although site is very large, campsite was quiet by 11am.
Shop was adequate, fresh bread was lovely. Ice creams are expensive. There were local Festivals which are worth a visit, good food, music and fireworks.Local villages are lovely, markets close by and beaches only 10 minute drive.
Just remember toilet roll and a plug for the sinks!

We stayed here for 12 nights in August 2009.
Location: Very easy to find, well signed, apart from last mile or so normal roads. Last mile narrower, but absolutely no problem for 2 vans passing.
Facilities: Pitches, even the small pitches are plenty big enough, we have a Ranger 550/6, 22 foot long and had no problems navigating through the site or onto the pitch, even though we had to push the van onto the pitch. Toilets cleaned 3 times a day, very clean. We went at the peak time, and even so was always on a decent state.
More tents than vans, mostly Dutch then French then English. All staff on site speak English. Decent enough shop, not the cheapest, but for bread etc perfectly acceptable. Pool area nice, indoor and outdoor pool, can get very busy but still copes well. Kids loved the pool areas.
Would recommend looking on the website and choosing your pitch away from the toilet blocks, due to high season was noisy sometimes at night, but again it was high season.
Would go again.
Nearest supermarket 10 mins by car. Nowhere near on foot. Good beaches etc 15 mins by car.
Not cheap though, but again due to location is expected.

Fantastic area, Fantastic Site, Fantastic weather.
The only draw back was that it was a Dutch Run site in France.
Don't get me wrong the Dutch are lovely but this meant that 90% of the pitches were Dutch occupied. All the entertainment was in Dutch or French and the kids club also so if you don't speak the lingo like us then it causes problems. Prices in the site were OK.
The facilities were 5 star.
I would recommend to a friend and would re-visit this area but maybe would choose a more pro-English site.

We have been to Guyonniere several times during June and late August / Sept and always enjoyed spacious pitches, great pool area and great free fishing for my husband.
Toilets and showers kept clean, tractor rides for parents and young children and very friendly owner Pierre.
Inland site but not very far to good beaches at Bretignolles. Nearby quarry does give some noise during the weekdays but it does not detract too much from enjoying site.

We had a fantastic holiday here, the pitch was very large, we had a field of goats next to us who amused the kids. Moles digging under the tent was a new experience!
The facilities were spotless and cleaned a few times each day. The shop on the site had all the basic items and sold ice creams out of a window onto the pool side. The takeaway had great pizza.
The childrens playpark, tennis courts, fishing on the lake, horse riding on the site and excellent pool, to name a few things that this site offers.
We were there before the English school holidays and found the site to be full of very friendly Dutch people, no other fellow Scots!
This is a beautiful area and this site was in the middle of lovely countryside. This was our first experience of camping in France and we are planning to return here again next year.

I would agree with everything the previous reviewer said. My children 7 and 5 loved the goat field we were pitched next to and gave them all names and fed them each day.
There were more English people there when we were there, however our children did find it hard to mingle at Kids Club due to Dutch being the majority. Yet they did make some lovely friends of both nationalities too.
The take away pizzas were delicious.
The site felt very safe for little people to wander around in.
We found the area to be pretty and enjoyed a couple of events at the annual 'Fete du lac Jaunay' - one was an open air Edith Piaf tribute concert and the other boat races and traditional country feast by the nearby lake.
If we return to the Vendee we would stay here again for sure.

I have to agree with the comments on the size of the pitches and general upkeep of the site. We have a large frame tent, car, trailer, gazebo and got it all in one of the smaller pitches.
The facilities are excellent and for us both pools where warm. For the first week the foreign (french and Dutch) split was about 50 - 50, but for the second week it was nearly all Brits. The site was fully booked for both weeks but still had lots of space and no feeling of overcrowding. I tend not to return to any sites as there are so many new ones to find, but if I did I would go back to this one. Several of the families we met where on the third or fourth visit.
The only negative was the goats. They were directly next to us and made a hell of a noise in the early hours of the morning. I would recommend looking at the map of the site and requesting a pitch away from them, however if you are a good sleeper, the up side of this is that all your uneaten food can simply be fed to the goats!

Just returned from a great holiday, would definitely recommend this campsite, the pitches were a great size and the campsite itself huge. There is a tractor ride every morning for the kids, which takes you round the whole site, a good way to see how big it is! The pool was great with plenty of sun beds every day and an indoor pool if the weather isn't too good. All the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very laid back and relaxing. All of our kids had a great time, which was great as there is quite a few years difference between them, 14, 8 & nearly 2. All ages are well catered for.
I did notice the difference in Dutch to English, but that seemed to change while we were there, a lot of English arrived in the middle of our stay and it seems people like to come at this time to take in all the festivals that happen around the time of 15th August. Loads of stuff going on with fireworks and bands, one in the next field to the campsite.
Most families that we spoke to had been before and would keep coming back. That stands for us as well. Already planning next years trip!

We have just got back from Village de La Guyonniere. We had a fantastic pitch. It was huge with a large play area opposite for the children to play in / on. The sanitary block was spotless and I only had to wait once for a shower. Be warned though remember toilet paper as it is not provided!
The site is very Dutch . I think our first week there it was about 98% Dutch 2% English. It didn't bother the adults at all but our 6 year old sometimes found it hard at kids club - that being said she still wanted to go everyday! The open mike night was amusing though as all in Dutch with the odd translation. The kids club 'animateurs' were lovely and made the children feel really special.
The indoor pool was great for our three year old as it was heated. But it did get very very busy. The outside pool was good too but a little chilly!
There was a small kids play area and a tennis court.
The bar area and restaurant were very pleasant.
The surrounding area is lovely and approximately fifteen minutes drive from glorious beaches!
We loved the site and would definitely recommend it but dont go if you want to be surrounded by lots of British people!
