The toilets and shower were basic and in a portable cabin they are a little tired but kept clean.
There little bit of traffic noise but no more than what you would experience on most side roads.
There is a small forest kids loved and they said there was a rope swing.
Field is a little uneven but not bad surrounded by horse fields
Close to major roads and handy for Bolton Wanderers Football Club if you go to watch a match.

Lovely little site great views and very peaceful. Went with 3 children and lots of room for them to play. The site has great views of Rivington and within walking distance of 3 lovely cafes. The site is a bit uneven but is clean. The toilets and shower were basic and in a portable cabin but usable and clean. The site is surrounded by horses and the owners are very friendly. Will definitely be visiting again.

This was our first time camping, we couldn't have picked a better spot if we tried. We had lovely weather.
This site has superb views of the reservoir, pigeon tower and pike, quite a good walk from camp but we loved it. Field is uneven, but not to bad near the tree.
Shower cabin was great, clean and maps that you can borrow, so we did.
Lovely walk to Liverpool Castle, tea shop with nice gift shop. Rivington is very picturesque.
Site is surrounded by horse fields as this is a working farm. Christine is very friendly.
She let my daughter have a walk around the farm.
We will be going again soon.

This little site is in a good position for exploring the countryside around Rivington. There is good walking and cycling direct from the site. The site is surrounded by fields with nice countryside views, but there is some traffic noise.
The field is uneven and sloping, so chocks are needed. There are a few electric hook-ups available.
There is one toilet and one shower (both unisex) in a portacabin. They function well but I felt they could be cleaner. The portacabin also contains some useful information about the local area.
We'd visit again and are happy to recommend it.

Nice friendly site. Beautiful surroundings. I was pleasantly surprised.
Decent shower, toilet, baby changing facility etc.
The reservoir is a lovely walk and is only a 2 minute walk to get there. Go ape is on the side of the reservoir that would be a bit hit with children.
Stayed here as we were visiting family nearby but were very pleased indeed with the site. Would go back. Very friendly site

This is a beautiful little site, basic but in a perfect area, with lovely surroundings right on the edge of the reservoir. Just a short walk to the barn and cafe, a lovely little base before and after attempting to climb the pike. There is also a nice pub in the other direction and shops/takeaways in the town.
This was our 1st family camping holiday, we'd only bought the tent 4 days before so chose the site as it was close to home, but we felt very welcome and could have easily mistaken being abroad (the weather was great too luckily).
Christine, who runs the farm, was very friendly and was there every day greeting and helping the guests and cleaning the facilities, inbetween milking the cows and generally everything there is to do on a working farm (full credit to her). We were invited to have a walk round the farm and told times certain jobs were taking place. The kids loved watching the milking of the cows.
The camping field is on a slight slope, surrounded by a field of beautiful horses. There is a few hardstanding pitches on one side and EHU's dotted around. The site also have splitters for the EHU's, if needed, but don't put a metal knife in your toaster as it blows the electric for everyone :( sorry Christine! We learned quite a few helpful tips from an experienced camper who stays virtually every weekend (no paul it wasn't my straighteners that blew the electric!).
The facilities are basic but clean and include everything you need. There is a portaloo with a sink in 1 corner and a portacabin on the other side of the field, which housed a shower room with a baby bath and a mop and bucket (so you can clean up your splashes - which unfortunately some people didn't), a cleaning cupboard (Christine's base), a toilet/washroom and a kitchen area, where you will also find a box full of maps and tourist routes of the area to borrow. The portacabin has a number coded lock on the door, which Christine gives you the code for and luckily stops the kids from going in messing around.
The only thing that was missing was a play area for the kids, but this was improvised as there was lots of trees for them to explore in, where they discovered a couple of tree swings that someone had rigged up and the field was big enough for all the kids to play football in the middle, which kept them entertained.
This is a lovely little site and to quote Scoobybuz, 'I would like to keep a little secret for myself'. We only paid £10 a night for an 8 berth tent with EHU (think it was £7 without EHU). And, you don't need to be a club member (as stated on the review). They have also started recycling items and have different bins for your rubbish.
We will definitely be going back soon, many thanks Christine

This site has superb views of the reservoir and pike, field is uneven and slopes take chocks.
Shower cabin was great, clean and maps and walks that you can borrow, so we did.Lovely walk to Liverpool Castle, tea shop with cheap cuppa and nice gift shop. Rivington is very small but picturesque.
Site is surrounded by horse fields as this is a working farm. Christine is very friendly. Pizza and Indian takeaway towards Chorley 5 mins drive , pub 5 min walk and farm food shop 5 min drive.
Only downside was a couple camped out with about 5 dogs running round the pitches pinching food. The dogs yapped every time you walked past and yapped at 6am
Bit of a shame they don't recycle.

Fab little site, was a little shocked at first at how basic it was, but totally friendly, the loo looks like a portaloo, but it is flushable, so great, hook up was brill and worked fine. I would like to keep this little site a secret for myself. The site owner was very helpful. Even though the address is Anderton, it is on the border of rivington and is a stones throw away from the reservoir, and a hop skip and a jump from rivington barn, tea shops and gift shops, and a fab walk up to the pike. Very tranquil and lots of horses walking past. Id recommend to anyone who doesn't mind not having a shower as there are none, (shame) but didn't bother me one bit as was only there for a couple of days.
Give it a go !

The site is very basic no showers or fixed toilet block just a field with a porta loo. Ground is on a slight slope. It is a working farm and the owners seem to be pleasant and at five pound a night you cant complain. There is no pubs or stuff to do at night, not that I could find anyway, so take some board games.
It is a great base to get out and see rivington
Overall not a bad site for the money would revisit

Home farm is a little beautiful site located near Rivington Lakes. It is really easy to find if using Tom Tom via the postcode and the campsite is well signposted. We were met by the really lovely campsite owner 'Christine' who was extremely helpful and made us feel extremely welcome.
On arrival we were delighted by the views and surroundings ( I think the large backdrop hill is called 'Winters Hill' - and the view was stunning) - even though this is just off the road that takes you to Rivington lakes, the traffic was almost a non entity for us as we couldn't really hear it and it didn't bother us .
The campsite itself is a on a real working farm which has dairy cattle and horses - the first field that you see on your left is the camp field which is just a fairly flat field / gentle slope and horses on another field to your right.
Although , the site is basic it has approx 6 EHU point and a new portacabin / wash point which was well cleaned everyday. The portacabin has a toilet and a small sink with hand wash and a towel/ mirror - it was thoroughly cleaned everyday by Christine (the lovely campsite owner/ farmers wife)
Christine collected the children up in morning and took them to see the new calves and the horses which my children loved!
There are waste bins at the top of the field for rubbish, a chemical waste disposal point and a fresh water supply. There are also a scattering of picnic tables with umbrellas which were nice to eat at and just under a gorgeous large tree.
Although there are no shower facilities /toilet block, nor is there any washing up facilities we had a really lovely relaxing time (we boiled water and then washed up in a bowl - don't forget your washing up bowl!) . We were even allowed a small fire off the ground in a bucket which was fab.
If you like camping as it should be (basic), then this is well worth a visit. We (me and OH and x 2 kids) loved this site and will definitely be going back as is perfect for a weekend for us. Christine did say that they are looking to add facilities for next year e.G washing up facilities, perhaps fixed toilets etc. So watch this space!
We are so glad we stumbled over this site and will be booking to go again soon! You are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome!
