My Husband, son (6) and I stayed for a three night stay
we were impressed by the scenery and situation of the site, it had a lovely pub across the road (wharf tavern) which served hot food (a little pricey) but all of the staff were very friendly and keen to help.
The pub also had a small children's play area and small grassed football play area. The shower and toilet facilities were small but very clean 24 hours a day, and were situated next to the pub.
The only down side we found with the site was the septic tank was pretty smelly, so I would advise you camped as far away as possible from it.
All in all a definite site we will return to for peace and quiet.

Lovely looking site, very well maintained
Run by the Wharf pub which sits next to the canal
Electric pitches in n outer circle with non electric and tents in the middle field.
A small children's play area to the rear of the pub.
The facilities are basic but clean.
Had a lovely weekend here, spending Saturday evening sampling the real ales in outside the pub.
The only down side was the smell of raw sewage that occasionally drifted over from what we assumed was the chemical toilet disposal point.

What a lovely site, the entrance is a bit limited but my husband negotiated it without any difficulties.
The facilities on site are fine, although there is only one shower and one toilet for women, another one in the disabled toilet and two toilets and two showers in the mens toilet - my hubby says. These were sufficient facilities for the first few days but as it got busier they could not cope with the number of users.
There are no washing up facilities.
The pitches are a lovely size and there was plenty of room for our children to play. We took four children with us for four days and they never complained of being bored at any point.
It is in the middle of nowhere so take all supplies with you as it is a good drive to the nearest supermarket. There is a community shop in Cheswardine which is opened for limited hours and has limited stock but very friendly staff.
The water, chemical disposal and waste water facilities are brilliant and all seem brand new. We paid £14 per night, which is fabulous.
The staff in the pub were very friendly, although we didn't try the food.
Overall this is a beautiful site and we will definitely be going back.

This is a lovely site made up of central grass pitches with hardstandings on the outer. We stayed on a hardstanding pitch. The weather unfortunately was torrential rain, and the grassed area did not cope well with this, we had a very muddy awning, but this rain was extreme. Pricing is a very acceptable £12.50 per night.
The turn into the site is quite tight and a couple of vans had the misfortune of experiencing some damage. We did not use the toilet/shower facilities, but other reviews rate them well and we have no reason to doubt this.
Spacious pitches, and as the site was not fully booked the children had a good space to run around. There is a play area located at the rear of the pub, which was good for the older children, but not great for the younger ones due to the distance.
The pub which is a very short walk across the road was wonderful, the staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The menu had a very good selection (although the children's menu was a little lacking, as only 3 options Sausage, Nuggets or fish fingers and chips - a pasta dish would have been welcomed).
There were 21 of us in total including children, and even though each party ordered their food separately it was all served within minutes of each other so we were able to eat together, not sure even McDonalds could pull that off! the food was delicious, and we felt the prices to be very reasonable (eg. Lasagne, salad and fries £7.95).
We all enjoyed a walk along the canal toward Cheswardine (the tow path was very muddy and slippy), the local residents were very friendly and helpful and happy to have a brief chat. Stopped for a drink in the Red Lion, again a very good experience.
The Wharf is definitely on our do again list.

Visited here with our camper before we upgraded to a caravan. Pleasant site in lovely pretty area alongside the canal. Not much communication with the owners in the pub. Toilets and showers very clean but were at rear of pub a fair walk if you're desperate! Pub food was good but expensive, with cheapest steak around £15. Nice beer garden by the canal and pretty for walking along there too. Reasonable rates for camping though. Car transport definitely needed to see something of the area. Not much for children even the playing area was sparse.

Very popular site - fully booked when we were there - this speaks volumes about the quality of the site. It did not feel crowded in the slightest as pitches are large, with a mixture of grass pitches and hard-standings. Quiet, friendly and well set-out site.
Toilets and showers were spotless; very functional and comfortable. We never had to wait to use the facilities. Access is via a keypad-lock, so very secure.
There are numerous fresh water points throughout the site. There is no designated washing-up point as such (although the owners are looking into this), but, there is a (very) hot water tap located at the side of the pub so you can fill your washing-up bowl up. We found this to be no problem as we did not have much to wash.
Beautiful location, right next to the canal - lots of barges going up and down. The pub is right on the doorstep - only popped in there to pay but it looked very cosy and welcoming.
Five minutes drive to Market Drayton which is a charming town and has a range of shops.
Only cost £12.50/night for a spacious pitch with hook-up. Bargain! Hope to visit again soon.

What a gem of a site. Set in the heart of Shropshire just a few miles from Market Drayton, Shrewesbury, Telford and Ironbridge. This site is stunning. Right by the canalside and a must for those who like peace and quiet of the countryside.
There are barges moored alongside the Wharf pub which sells good wholesome meals reasonably priced and there was a very warm welcome too, though if you have any inclination of taking your dog in the pub - forget it! they are not welcome!
A new toilet/shower facility is beautifully finished and spotless clean and heated too. Though the extractor in the shower is a little insufficient to take away the steam. But don't let that put you off at all it's a lovely site beautifully kept in a stunning location.
Yes we would prefer not to let our little secret out but what a shame others would not see this lovely site. We are definitely considering a seasonal pitch.

We stayed in Caravan with friends who brought their tent.
Lovely site, we pitched on the nice grass area. The weather helped too. As previous poster explains there are three fields, 2 of which have seasonal pitches £750per annum, plus £3 per night electric we were told.(Seasonal fields were 'gated'.)
Hardstandings around the edge of the oval grassed area, appeared a good size. Water points conveniently placed. For the touring field, bins and waste well placed too, although occasionally a smell from this direction.
Children loved this, they were relatively safe, due to the openness of the site, any traffic could be seen.
People towing need to be aware of the tight corner to get into the site, especially if you have a twin axle.
The pub is convenient, no football as no TV. Lovely beer garden overlooking the canal.Play ground, which suited our 6 and 7 year olds.
We found food a little more pricey than a lot of places, but very tasty. Very friendly staff,Sharon shared the essentials with us after helping us navigate the gateway and the bar staff offered a bowl of drinking water for the dog. A fair bit of noise until 11pm ish, weather was great, this wasn't a problem, but may not be what everyone wants.
Showers and toilets are across the road, behind the pub, with key code locks, family change is a lovely size and showers hot and easy to use. Bathrooms clean and tidy. (Shut 11-12 for cleaning)
All this and the canal walks £12.50 pn inc electric - I reckon a good deal.

This is a lovely little site for a few days away. There appears to be 2 seasonal fields which overlook the canal and then a 3rd touring field which is opposite the pub, with all pitches appearing relatively flat - hardstanding pitches around the outside and grass pitches in the middle - all electric.
All pitches seemed to be larger than normal with hardstanding large enough for your caravan and car and then grass for your awning with as much grass again to the side before the next pitch.
At £12.50 per night this is great value for money. The toilets / showers were immaculate although I think that perhaps they could do with a couple more - but then again, I use the facilities in our van and am sure other people also do.
The owners were really friendly and there was a really relaxed feel to the site during our couple of days there.
The canal is lovely to walk along and if you just fancy relaxing with a beer, then you can sit directly alongside the canal in the beer garden.
Some would consider the food at the pub to be a little pricey, but we found the food to be lovely, with the portion sizes bigger than usual.
All in all, this site is great value for money and we will definitely return for a weekend as it is only 45minutes away from us.

Quite disappointed with this site. It is as has been stated in a picturesque location right next to the canal. There are three fields two of which appeared to be taken up with 'seasonal' pitches. I filled the form in & was given a code for the showers / loos but not told where they were (in the opposite field) as I discovered.
The pitches are spacious with water etc within easy reach so all that's good & reasonably priced too at £12.50 per night.
The TV reception is dreadful no matter how much you fiddle & twiddle with the aerial as confirmed with other caravanners. It could possibly be better in the other fields as they are slightly elevated. I did not see a TV in the pub at all & on the day England played it shut at 3pm with not a flag in sight!
We had a meal at the pub which I would class as average.
The nearest shop for a paper, milk etc is approx 2 miles away in Cheswardine.
This site wasn't for us, but I'm sure it depends what you are looking for to have a few days break.
