When we arrived the site has not been fully built with half of it looking like a building site with machinery in the corner. Less than half the site has been turfed the other is just soil or rough uneven & weedy right next to the busy A10.
We were told we could not pitch our awning on the new grass as they didn't want to ruin it, so had a choice of on the road or the prickly uneven grass next to the A10. The new turf will not be ready to be used for another 2 months and by the looks of it the rest of the site is going to be 6 months.
Yes there is a park, but it is not on site, it is a council play area that just happens to be near the entrance of the site. It cannot be seen from the campsite and children have to go out to the main street to access it.
We had to cope with just 1 shower and 2 toilets in gents, and 1 working shower & 2 working toilets in ladies(between 50 campers) this was when they weren't tripping out the electrics, which was quiet often and upsetting for my 10 year old when he was left stood in a shower in pitch black.
It has 2 washing up sinks in a small shed and you can just about fit 2 people in it, but there was no hot water, so had to boil kettle to wash up.
We now understand that the 2011 introductory rate is more of a compensation rate. Had we been informed when booking the site was not complete it would have been less of a shock and not as upsetting. On the good side though the site was very clean and tidy, which you would expect from a brand new site
Owner's comment: As of July 2011 there is now mains electric, 2 showers for the ladies and 2 for the gents, 3 toilets for the ladies and 2 for the gents. There is hot water in the toilets and all showers work and the washing up area also has hot water.
