Just got back from a stay at Wicksteed park. We knew the shower block would be basic (1 Loo & 1 shower) There was 4 adults & 5 kids in our group & I can honestly say that we never had to queue for the either unless we took the kids with us! The pitches were huge, the view from camp field really nice. We limited the kids to the free park & row boats most days (£4 a boat) then wrist bands on one day (£50 for a 2 adult 2 children) The gate entry people were very friendly. We had a really great time, we even stayed an extra night (4 in total) On one night we only had 6 other tents in a huge field with us. On the Fri morning lots of caravans started to turn up & they would just pitch it were they liked with no thought for tents already there, but caravans are banned Mon-Thurs. Tesco, Lidl & Aldi all nearby, as well as Mcdonalds, Pizza Hut, Nandos & we could see Frankie & Bennys in the distance. The park itself could do with staying open later (rides close at 5pm) If you are planning to chill around your tent having a drink, playing with the kids etc then this is a excellent place to go. The noise from the park is not noisy, even though some rides are close by. We shall be going back again to stay & once the new shower block is built it will be a 5* place to stay.

Went with a friend with 6 kids between us between the ages of 3 and 8. We booked for only one night as we were aware that the bathroom facilities were a bit lacking and there was no electric hook up. The camping field was enormous and there was more than enough room for the few campers who had risked the changeable weather. The weather varied between scorching sunshine and torrential rain but we had a fantastic time. The park is excellent and you can spend as much or as little money on entertainment as you like. There is a huge free playpark along with rides you pay for by ticket/wristband. There is a Pizza hut and a Mcdonalds nearby for kids meals along with a cafe on site. The temporary toilet and shower facilities are horrible but for an overnight stay this did not worry us. When they put in electric and proper shower facilities(next year I believe?) we will be regular visitors.

We had a great weekend. Ideal for groups of friends. The children had freedom and the field was fine. However, this was one of the hottest weekends I can remember and a shower would have been most welcome- we kept running out of drinks for the children- there's a Tescos nearby, but some facilities for freeze blocks for cool boxes and would have been nice. Nevertheless, good value for money, easy to reach and plenty to do. If we go again, we might visit Kettering Leisure Centure- for a wash!

Spent one night camping at Wicksteed, never again! I got the impression that they only make a token effort to provide camping facilities. After about 5:30pm there is only one toilet open for the entire camp site, one shower and two wash basins. All of which were filthy. Even to use these you need to pay a £10 deposit to get a key. Considering this site is aimed at families with small children this is totally unacceptable today. Don’t expect to be able to shave, unless you have a battery shaver, there are no shaver points and no mirrors for a wet shave. The actual park and the rides are very good but camping don’t bother. If you want to visit Wicksteed park and camp, I would suggest camping at Billing aquadrome, just a short drive away.

What a weekend, what an atmosphere. The weather was well a storm lasting an hour and a half. As for the facilities a very basic toilet block and a way to walk. The plus side is the theme park. A very nice local pub called the piper. All the staff are very friendly and polite. Next time we stay we will be going fishing has the lake looked so lovely and relaxing. Dennis and Hilary

Wicksteed is a very basic campsite, in the sense that it has some bins, a fresh water tap and a loo block that is a long way from the field, there is no electric hookup or showers, but who needs that for a weekend camping anyway! But on the upside, what a brilliant campsite, absolutely tons of space, pitch where you like, freedom for the kids to play without being near other units, superb. As I said the toilet block is long walk from the camping field, especially if you pitch right down at the far end, but a porta potti or caravan would be sufficient to get past this problem. There is a train track that runs near to the site, but you don't really notice it as the trains did not run that often. This is not the flattest field in the world, however it is so large, that I doubt you would struggle to find a suitable flat pitch for your unit. This site could get busy during the summer, as it is a great family site. We went as part of a group of four units and the sheer size of the field meant we were able to pitch all together and still be a long way from the other campers on the field. The site itself is great, if you like walking or fishing this is all available on the site, with extensive grounds and lots of fishing lakes. If you have kids then the theme park on site is great, you can either buy a daily wristband or individual tickets, it worked out cheaper for us to get the kids a daily wristband for £15 each, as they certainly got their monies worth, as did us adults! The site has a roller coaster, water flumes, dodgems, bouncy castle, bumpy slide and so much more for children , and adults, of all ages. Food on the park was pricey, but if you are camping, just go back to your unit for lunch! There is a pub and restaurant on site, but if you leave the site there are shops and restaurants all within a couple of miles, with an Aldi, Tesco and more just a short drive away. There is lots to see in the area, but if you are with the kids, they will probably not let you go off site exploring, with so much to do on-site! Overall a great site that I would definitely come back to, especially if meeting friends as we did this time, for a weekend away with the kids, it is also a great venue. If you can live without hookup and showers then this is worth a go and a £10 a night, you cannot go wrong. Easy access off both the M1 and A1m, makes this a superb location too.

Visited Wickstead for an American Auto Club weekend. We were in the rally field with only basic but clean toilet facilities. We had a great weekend as the Club laid on entertainment. The theme park is great for young children (up to 10) and some is free of charge otherwise you can purchase day passes. Nicely landscaped and clean. Would recommend a visit with young kids.
