Managed to pick a couple of not bad weather days to stay, which is rare for this summer. Kids had a ball with all the animals and large open spaces. Good walks and a good bike trail for all the family. Facilities ok, but definitely not the worst. As with all the forest sites good pitches and plenty of space for the kids to runs about. I would avoid pitches at the top of the site if you don't want to hear the cockerel too loud in the morning, it starts about 6am.

First time in Gosford, been around the demense a few times but decided to try a night there.
Plenty of space and clean in the pitch areas. Facilities were OK, not great but have been at worse. Had to get a key for the gate by a £2 deposit in case I needed the car out in a hurry.
Great location with plenty of walks, long and short and a few ducks and the like to look at. Only spoilt by a bunch of idiots all night who ended up breaking tree branches off to burn in their bbq / campfire, and that would be the only criticism, no 'ranger' anywhere to be found at night to save their forests.
Otherwise a good spot for a quiet weekend or as a stopover.

This is our third year staying at Gosford. It really is a lovely site let down by terrible facilities. With our summer being so wet it was expected that there would be mud around, but we didn't expect that to be the case in the showers and toilets! The toilet block really does need to be refurbished. I feel that while people continue to accept this level of hygiene then nothing will ever be done.
Back to the good points. A great site for children, there is a large farm area of birds, rare breed cattle, sheep & goats anddeer. The kids spend most of their day there putting ducks and chickens back into their pens (they must like jumping out!). The area is lovely for cycling with some beautiful scenery. The old castle is lovely to look around, although now boarded up the kids still like the scare themselves at it when dusk comes.
Market Hill is just literally across the road, a busy road, but within walking distance. Nice shops and friendly locals.
A little bit of refurbishment of facilities would make me come back time after time, but in it's current state we use it once a year to meet up with friends. Come on Forestry Service, get your finger out!

Stayed here for a weekend, thankfully the weather was good. Each pitch has its own electric hookup and has quite a lot of room. The toilet facilities are in extremely bad shape and need renovated. Other forestry owned sites are much better.
The forest park has plenty of space to walk and ride bicycles. There are a number of guided trails. Also there is a area which has rear breed hes, ducks etc in pens that the kids loved to look round. There is a small restaurant in the park, but we did not use it.
Armagh City is a10 minute drive away and has two Cathedrals that are well worth visiting. Would visit again.
