A beautiful site. Very warm welcome. The hilly tent area is very quiet and we had a huge choice of spots - I chose the wrong spot as there were too many stones. A long walk to the toilets - took the car once and I love walking!
The toilets / showers/ dish sinks were covered in bird poo and wildlife. £16 a night is very expensive especially when there is no playpark but I'm told this is the going rate for this area.

We've been visiting this site for the past 10 years so I've decided it was time to leave a review. When we go camping we like to camp. We never have an EHU and find being away from the T.V etc is just what you need to recharge your batteries every now and again. Pound Farm is the perfect place for this. It's in beautiful surroundings and although you don't get your modern 'underfloor heated showerblock' its very clean. Pound farm is very much 'does what it says on the tin' its a campsite! It's in a good location for site seeing in the lakes. We've also found it one of the best child friendly sites. Fair enough it doesn't have swings etc but to be honest the one thing it does have which all children love is space. As long as your kids don't go running down the gravel drive when a cars driving towards them then its an extremely safe for them to explore.
When we visited last year they site had new managers which we found very friendly and helpful.
On that note however I would also like to say prior to that visit the 'pride' of pound farm for us had been the previous managers Greta and Eddie who I believe have now retired. They gave 110% to all who camped there as I'm sure the new managers will.

Just got back from what I'm sure will be remembered for being the hottest weekend of 2010. Our visit to pound farm was excellent. It's a smallish, but lovely site.
The ground is free of stones so no problems with bent pegs. It was also very quiet with only a few more tents and one campervan on the site! I've read other reviews about the price and don't agree.
The site is spotless, service is excellent and friendly, the toilets and showers very clean (showers are free, ignore the meter) and I've paid more money elsewhere and not been as happy with the quality of the site. I've just booked to go on a site with identical facilities for this weekend and it's costing £30 per night so I think the £16 per night at pound farm is well worth it. I don't want a club on site and shops are a short drive if you forgot any essentials.
It's about 4 miles from Kendal which has a decent town centre, plenty of shops and pubs and a Mcdonalds if the kids are getting withdrawal symptoms! Castle cars charge £8 to get there.
Only one small problem was mobile phone signals, struggled to get a signal on the site to ring the taxi although depending how hectic your life is it may be a welcome relief to be out of range for a weekend.
I'll definitely be going back again sometime and fingers crossed I'll get the weather again too.

My husband and I went to this site for our very first camping trip. We are in the more mature age group and were not sure what to expect, very apprehensive. However we were immediately put at ease by the very friendly wardens, Greta and Eddie who were very helpful. We were a bit worried about the sloping ground that we pitched on but soon adjusted and we thought that the amenity block was a bit far away from our tent but never having been to any other site we could'nt make comparisons.I t was very clean and plenty of hot water but not enough toilets or showers for the size of the site.I agree with the other comments that it is a bit pricey for what there is, or not, but it is a fabulous location for touring the lakes. We will return perhaps next year.

This is the third year we have stayed at Pound Farm and it never disappoints. The site is, as some have said, basic but don't let this put you off. Staveley village is just a 5 minute drive away and the Sun Inn about 2 mins, where you can eat some of the finest pub grub I have tasted.
The flat pitches are very lush and green, the toilets and showers are beautifully clean, just a great place to explore the south Lakes from.

Nice site, basic but very clean facilities, only 2 showers and 3 toilets for the whole site - mind you I never had to queue - lucky I guess.! The campsite owners are very friendly and walkabout to make sure all is OK. Good location for Kendal and the Lakes. As previous review has said - not many flat bits to pitch your tent - you just have to adjust your sleeping arrangements to accommodate the hills. Watch out for the moles - by the time we left there were certainly more hills than when we arrived. There is one thing that I will say - altho' the weekend was generally windy all over the North West - the campsite was VERY VERY windy - on talking to a local farmer we found out Pound Farm is known for being windy - sits in a 'bowl' so creates a vortex like effect with the wind. Last thing - a bit pricey I feel. £16 for 2 adults per night, extra for Gazebos, kids, dogs etc.

Nice site, if a little hilly for tents, not really any flat pitches. Flat pitches around the edges of grass are for campers, caravans and electric hook-up. Facilities were clean and basic, two showers and three toilets and a washing up area which also had a washing machine if needed (£2.40) The site is well kept but we felt it was expensive for the level of facilities available. For myself, my husband and 12yr old daughter it cost £19 per night. There were no open spaces for games and campfires not allowed, so we were disappointed by these two aspects. Don't mind paying that per night if there are more facilities and more open spaces to play.

Lovely, friendly, helpful campsite in the Lake District. Family and pet orientated, and very welcoming for all. Accommodates all types of camper styles - caravans, tents, trailer tents, camper vans, motor homes.
Staff even gave us all a map of what facilities are nearby, which he produced himself, this was VERY helpful.
Very well run and highly recommended. We only planned on staying a couple of nights, and ended up staying the whole week ! ! Good base for all the Lakes areas - Hardknott Pass particularly spectacular ! Make sure you vehicle has good brakes, as its very, very steep.
We will definitely go back there again.
