Stayed here for a couple of days just before the August bank holiday, mainly on the strength of reviews on website. On the whole the camp site lived up to expectations. The only area of improvement I would comment on are groups of campers. I was with my 2 young children in a small tent and we were next to a group with 4 or 5 large tents similar to a small holiday resort. The children from the group were kicking a football around just next to our tent until night fall. If groups of tents are permitted it may be a good idea to restrict them to a certain area of the site so campers like ourselves and another small family nearby can enjoy peaceful camping in the future.

I have stayed on this site on a couple of occasions, and have found it very convenient for the local area and beaches. The site itself is well laid out, with a field for touring caravans on the right on the way in, and tents on the left - followed by a static caravan area, loo block in the middle, and then areas for tent and caravans on a further 3 banks on the left of the site. It is a large site, with a mixture of units (tents statics tourer vans) though is peaceful - the first stay was very quiet noise wise in Aug 06, slightly noisier in July 07 when I visited last. On both occasions I had a hard standing pitch, first occasion with water and electric next to the pitch, second occasion the water was further away. But no problem. The loo block was clean, and has plenty of facilities in the gents (unsure about ladies) it has washing up area, tourist information, and some washing facilities for clothes etc. It was well priced, and I enjoyed both ocassions when I stayed there

Excellent campsite, we went for my boyfriends birthday and took some friends who had not been camping before. We all loved it. The facilities are clean and accessible and the location is perfect. It was a lovely experience to be able to build our own fire and to be by the river. Definitley recommend this campsite, we are going again in two weeks.

Fantastic camp site! The facilities block is always clean and well stocked. There are toilets, showers, sinks, mirrors, a hairdryer, a launderette with washing machines and a tumble dryer. A pay phone (that starts at 20p!) and a campers kitchen that has a table and benches, a hob, a microwave (that works on a coin meter), a fridge, a freezer, and a tv! The campsite is lovely and peaceful, there is a river at the bottom where you can relax and go for a swim if the weather is nice! The whole campsite is very well looked after, the grass was short and neat, there was no rubbish or litter, and overall I would say it is a lovely place where me and my fiance will definitely visit again!

Just back from two nights at this lovely site. Nice level pitches and plenty of space. Too wet for a camp fire :( but great, clean facilities and friendly owner. Handy for CAT and Bala Lake. Can't fault it really! Oh, and I was raised on Izal toilet paper so the type of loo roll was not an issue for me - more like a trip down memory lane!

This was my second visit to Dolgamedd at the same time of year and it has now become my favourite campsite. The shower block is lovely, clean, plenty of hot water and room to move. The toilets are more than adequate. There is a handy campers kitchen with TV and phone for those who can't leave it all at home. The best thing for me is being beside the river and having a campfire. Opening up in the morning with the river in front of you it gives the impression of wild camping but it isn't. Sitting round the campfire with tea lights hanging from the trees in the late evening is lovely. The campsite is not far from Barmouth and the sea and there is a good supermarket not far away in Dolgellau. I didn't check out the pubs as we preferred to have our drinks round the fire. Can't wait to go again.

Great site! Had a super large pitch right by the river (after heavy rain wasn't too noisy - more soothing really.) Most pitches included a rustic picnic table which was a nice addition. Campfires every night, and the river was a mecca for the kids. It became somewhat busier nearing the weekend, rather more squished together which was a pity (a neighbour had a rather noisy family get together). Facilities were top notch, uber clean (never saw anyone cleaning loo's/ showers but they obviously did very often - like little fairies) owner very kind & helpful, dog friendly. Need I go on? No queing for a shower - not a soul about before 8 am. Is this normal??! Barmouth beach is enormous! Hardly saw a soul! The town though was heaving - bucket & spade/ ice cream & burger vendors/ arcades / fair rides. Not everyones cup of tea, Aberdovey however was just lovely, a super family friendly beach, picturesque sea front and charming shops try 'The Sandwich Shop'!, only half an hours scenic drive from the camp site. The site caters for caravans & statics too but these are in separate areas, not near the lovely lovely river. All in all ACE! but please don't all go ;) - its mine!

Excellent campsite. Best one we have been to. They even allow you to light your own campfire! And to make it easy they sell firewood on site at a brilliant price. We camped down by the river which was lovely and the sound of the river at night didn't disturb us in the slightest. The campsite is in a good location- beautiful surroundings, close to mount Cadair Idris and the small country road nearby isn't noisy. The toilet block and facilities were again very good, although as previous reviews have mentioned the toilet paper is like tracing paper so do take a good roll with you. The town of Dolgellau is a small drive away and it has a spa and small somerfield to buy food and supplies. The lady owner was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely easter break!

My family of five stayed here over the bank holiday weekend, along with our friends. Good points - brilliant facilities. Owners lovely. Camp fires fantastic. Down points - my two youngest children were to young to go in the river (runs quite fast after rain) and there was nothing else on site for entertainment. Also the area seemed to have a lot of wasps around. We had twelve in our tent AT THE SAME TIME ! The owner explained they had found wasp nests in the nearby trees. Two of my children were stung and two of my friends were. Not bad over all but the children are not keen to go back.
